I recently decided that I want to apply to podiatry schools. I am having a difficult time putting into words why I want to attend and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or would like to share some things they wrote in their statement.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you🙂

Personal statement can really take any course you want it to. Here's some ideas...

Some common themes include how you got interested in health care, your qualities which will help you succeed, a positive (or even negative) experience that you learned a lot from, etc. Talking about what you know about podiatry and what interests you is certainly a good idea.

Personal statements are tricky and vary in importance from program to program, but most schools will use them to learn a bit about you and gauge your dedication as well as to just see if you can communicate effective written English. Yes, they see your MCAT writing score, but that's just a grade and doesn't tell the whole story. Make sure to have the statement proofread, and avoid simple spelling mistakes or grammar errors like homonyms or punctuation.

I don't know how familiar you are with podiatry but I can tell you what I thought was great about podiatry. I was in your shoes 3 years ago and after visiting a podiatry office I was able to write about how great it was that the doctors where able to do both primary foot care and surgery. No other profession gives you that option. I also wrote about how happy those physicians were with their lives and career choice.
