I emailed them and got a reply. They said that my school didn't separate my AP Scores into categories, and just lumped all of them as 22 Credits transfered from AP scores. So, my AP Biology credits don't show up on my PharmCAS GPA calculation, and it says I have 0 credits in Biology and Other Life Sciences!! 😱😱😱

I'm am so freaked out right now. I already applied to University of Maryland, and their supplemental didn't have a section where you specifically list out your pre-requisite courses so I could make it clear that I DO have credits in Introductory Biology. What should I do???? I'm still planning to apply to a few other schools, hopefully they have supplementals where I list out the pre-requisite classes so I can make it clear that I have fulfilled the Introductory Biology credits requirement, but since I've already submitted my application to UMD, what should I do about that??

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Step 1: Contact the school.
Step 2: Do what the school tells you to do.

Don't leave your fate on something this important to random advice on the internet. Let the school know what is going on so they can be aware of the issue. Most schools are pretty helpful and accommodating.

I had to send in AP score reports to the schools, which unfortunately takes a really long time.

I just submitted it (12-15-08)

They said that the update window will be available today...i just looked back at the application and I don't see any update window..

I would call them. With you just submitting today, there may be a delay. They had issues early this morning, but had them fixed by this afternoon when I checked.

The update window comes up after they calculate the GPA.

This is what had me so pissed last year about PharmCAS. I submitted my application on January 17th,2008. They did not calculate my GPA until AFTER the academic update window closed.

You go into your "Coursework" tab and change everything from "Planned/In Progress" to "Complete." Then update your grades and hit "E-Submit Academic Update" at the bottom of the screen on your main application page.

But if you submitted Jan 17 you should have been able to enter your fall grades right away without needing to do an academic update.

Lol this is probably late...but don't they just ask for the title? i.e. it'd be Chem 101 only, I don't think they ask for the section or class number or anything.

Like can I get the officials, place them all in 1 large envelope, and mail to pharmcas? or is that not allowed?

they finally got the CC transcript today. dec 4th->dec 15th.

i guess it took a few weeks. now i can stress about the supplementals...

You can. It would be a waste of time as they would not accept them... but you can send them if you just "want" to for some reason.

When you input a your class and put in 'W' for withdrawn, do you have to still put 3 for the credit hours or just 0.

hopefully you discovered the answer already. no matter what your final status of the class ended up being, you still put however many credits it was. if it was a 3 credit course, put 3. that doesnt' change.

Quick question:

Is it mandatory to use the Academic Update? Can I just leave my application as it is, if I am not making any changes to my planned classes, and I have not been taking any classes in Fall 2008?

Thanks!

What does it really mean? Has the designated schools received my application? or that it has been simply mailed & will be received within a couple of days? I don't really understand the terminology.

When I submitted my applications, it took ~1 week to actually get to the schools. Some schools will use the "supplemental" tools to announce whether they have received the PharmCAS reports. If you have any questions, you can always contact the school--every one I contacted was extremely helpful.

^Thanks for the heads up! Mail will probably add more delay because of the holiday season, so we'll see. Watertown, MA isn't that far away from Worcester, MA as well...so it might get there sooner than later!

The mail it on the mail date but it is also available electronically to schools the same day. So a school will receive it electronically before they physically receive the paper copy.

Yeah, I was reading some previous posts from another thread regarding the mailing situation, but from what I could gather, a physical copy and an electronic copy will be sent on that day. I was hoping mine would get mailed out today because my GPA was calculated today, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Aaw shucks😛.

im not sure if we have to do it this time, but i'm pretty sure it doesn't hurt to make sure you provide a "pharmCAS transcript request form" to your registrar office to mail with your transcript.

to find the "pharmCAS transcript request form", on pharmcas, login, click my application, go to "colleges attended" and click on print next to the school you need to send a transcript from.

i haven't been able to get a response from pharmcas about this yet, but it wouldn't hurt to have that form included. it should make it easier for the pharmcas people to locate your file to match your transcript to.

best wishes to everyone and happy holidays.

last year i forgot to send the transcript request form with one of my transcripts. i called them and they said it would just take longer for them to process it. so i would make sure to send the form with transcripts so everything can be updated faster.

In this case, it sounds like there is nothing to "update", right?

so i submitted my pharmcas december 15th. they calculated the gpa a little while ago, etc....

it just shows that the main pharmcas app has not been mailed yet to the schools (deadline janurary 5th).

anyone have any info on this?

p.s. please spare me the lecture on applying early.... i know, i know... 🙄

anyone know if pharmcas is open during the holidays and working?

sent my main app december 15th and they still haven't sent them out....

I'd say somebody s working cause they did update that they received my transcript for the academic update yesterday. However just like any business I'm sure they have a fair amount of people who take vacation this week in between the two holidays.

I sent mine December 1st and they still haven't calculated my GPA yet.

wow. are your transcripts in? i e submitted dec 15th, and then they calculated it like a week later (uni trans in dec 8, cc trans in dec 15).

i'm really hoping they're open on friday jan 2nd....

hmm I e submitted on 12/28 and the next day wen i checked they calculated my gpa already... but they didnt mail it out yet... If the school's deadline is 1/5 and they still didnt mail it out yet, does it mean we wont meet the deadline?

I e-submited 12/11
Mail my transcripts 12/15
They recieved my transcripts 12/18
And verifed my GPA 12/19 or 12/20 (pretty quickly cuz I bugged them! 😛)
ALL three of my LOR is was done electronically....and finished on 12/19!
And they still haven't mailed my application out yet!!! they are soooooooooooo SLOW!!!!😡😡😡

Anyone here taking the Jan PCAT for the first time? I am! 🙄

They will send your applications out soon as long as they already calculated your GPA. I got an email from them saying that my applications would be mailed to designated pharmacy schools soon and it took them a couple days later to do that. So I would not worry about it.

MiszRuby, don't worry about the deadline of the school if you already submitted your pharmCAS application.

That depends... for most schools, the PharmCAS deadline is the last date it can be submitted to PharmCAS, the actually due date for supplementals etc. is later (by up to 6 weeks) to allow time for PharmCAS to process - this is the information PharmCAS provided me when I sent them a panic filled email because my stuff was taking f o r e v e r to process.
That said, I have incountered one (Incarnate Word to be specific) that had a Pharmcas due date that is basically the same as their actual cut off date (going by the required last date for the supplemental application). Mailing seems to take about 10-14 days from when everything seems to be ready, and each school I've added has mailed on a monday. The one that took longer was because they didn't send out a mailing the week of Thanksgiving 😕

Hope that helps!

They never emailed me about sending my application out soon!!! so does that mean they are going to take forever with this?? You are lucky they already send your out!!! this must be bad luck b/c I applied so late! 🙄

Well they did send me an email saying that my GPA has been verfied...is this the SAME email that you are talking about??? I really hope so...here is the exact words....

This is an automated notification regarding your PharmCAS application. Your application has now been Verified, and will be included in the next PharmCAS mailing to your designated pharmacy schools. As part of the Verification process, PharmCAS representatives have checked your entered coursework against the official transcripts that you provided for your Colleges Attended and there may have been changes made to your Coursework section. Please review your Coursework section and the GPAs that are now available in the Status section of your PharmCAS application and contact PharmCAS Customer Service at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns. If you send an e-mail to this address, please use the subject line "PharmCAS Verification Inquiry" to allow us to provide you the most effective and prompt response possible.

While reviewing your PharmCAS application, keep in mind that your PharmCAS GPAs may not exactly match the GPAs stated on your official transcripts due to the grade standardization used by PharmCAS (http://www.pharmcas.org/applicants/gpa.htm). In addition, since you cannot enter non-U.S. coursework, you will not have any GPAs to review if you have not completed any courses at U.S. institutions.

Thank you,

PharmCAS Staff

Is this calculating GPA for the overall application or just for the academic update? I submitted my AU Dec 15, they received the updated transcripts 12/22 and recalculated my GPA yesterday (1/2). I hope they mail the revised GPA this Monday and not next.

I sent my updated transcript last week, so they haven't got it yet. Did they recalculate your GPA after academic update? How long after they received your updated transcript?

Yes, that is exactly what I got! Nice!

YES!!! I can't wait till they send my application out! I send pharmcas a million emails bugging them about sending my application out!!!! they already have everything verified PLUS all my LORS are ALL submitted. They have NO reason to take forever!!!!

Aside from the fact that they have thousands of other applications, not just yours.

Same here. I submitted mine on 12/9, gpa verified on 12/22 (they emailed applications this day btw) and and now it's finally emailed. Nova just sent me the supplemental information. Now I gotta go through the process of sending out Fall 2008 transcripts... wich means schools are gonna wait even longer to look at my application . Fun times.

Yeah, I hate when people try to lecture you on applying earlier when all you need is a simple answer. Things happen, ya know?

Anyway.... the deadline is 99.9999999% of the time referring to the day you e-submit.
