so if a schools deadline is say like dec 1, so do we have to submit pharmcas 2-3 weeks before that, or can we do it on dec 1?

The school's deadline, as it is listed on PharmCAS, is the deadline by which you must e-submit your application online. So no, you don't have to e-submit to pharmCAS 2-3 weeks before the deadline. Of course, if you're applying to a school with rolling admissions, you'll want to submit your application as early as possible.

Thanks for your replies. It just seems pretty silly that we have to wait a couple more weeks for schools to receive our applications if PharmCAS is done with everything except for printing out the application and mailing it. I mean, come on, I can do that myself in just a few minutes.

I e-submitted pharmcas at the end of august, two weeks after I sent out my supplemental app. But I wasn't notified until mid October that they had received everything, so I think they probably don't check your pharmcas status online. To be on the safe side, e-submit pharmcas as early as possible.

I e-submitted my application about two weeks ago and have been constantly checking to see when my designated schools receive my application. When I checked today, PharmCAS had calculated my GPA in all the different categories and the message at the top says, "Your designated institutions have instant access to your entire application on-line including your PharmCAS GPAs. Part of this service, PharmCAS sends a printed copy of your application via UPS to all of your designated schools, which may take up to 2 weeks in the mail." Can the schools I applied to check my application right now online, or will they not even know about my application until they receive the hardcopy/printout from PharmCAS? I'm assuming the latter is correct which seems kind of stupid since a simple e-mail to the school would let them know that I applied and then they could just look at the application online - saving both time and money. Also, under school designations, it says printout not mailed by each of my designated schools. I'm wondering what else PharmCAS has left to do before they mail the printout since they've already calculated my GPA. Background check maybe? I know that many of you have commented that it takes a good four or five weeks for PharmCAS to do everything, but I guess I thought "everything" just meant verifying your transcripts and calculating your GPA - which has already been done in my case. So for those that have already applied, after your GPA is calculated, how much longer do I have to wait and worry before I know that the school is aware of my application? Thanks in advance for any replies and good luck to everyone applying.

Once PharmCas has calculated your GPA, they will then forward your application materials to your designated schools. Note that PharmCas sends out materials only on Mondays. I asked them this specifically. Your status should change on this next Monday. Please verify if I am correct.

I have not e-submited pharmcas yet
Can I mail them my transcripts before I e-submit?
And what is the Pharmcas address to send transcipts.
Anyone please give me a advice?
thank you

Of course!!! Mail in your transcripts ASAP --- it takes the longest to calculate your GPA so send it now!!! If you go to your application; into your college attended/attending, on the left side should be a column that says transcripts - click on it; fill it out; give it to the school to send out. GO do it tomorrow!!!

Hi y'all,

I lost my PCAT score report from June! Some schools require me to send them the score report in the application packet. Does anyone know how I can request one sent to me? I went to Harcourt's website and it seems I could only send them to schools. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know in order to request a PCAT score sent to you, you have to send a written request, with 20? i believe dollars in money order, sent to harcourt. thats it. You should ask the schools if you can send them a photocopy so you'll only waste 20dollars.

does pharmcas not process your application if you have a rec letter that has not been submitted yet? or does it wait for the letter to be sent in?

They will send out your application once they have your transcripts. If you are missing LOR they will send them on the schools once they receive them.

As of Tuesday 11am, the status next to my schools still reads "Printout not mailed." If you were told they only send out materials on Mondays, then that must be the case and I guess I'll be waiting until next Monday for my status to change. I'm guessing that there are still a few more things they have to do before they send it out. Background check or verify that my references are real or something else maybe? Either that, or I got kind of screwed. I just e-mailed them so if I found out anything new I'll be sure to post.

Some school require classes that some dont and vice versa. However under these pre-reqs there are almost always electives...social sciences etc. however how does pharmcas calculate your pre-req gpa? or do they? im wondering b/c i have like 4 social sciences..one of which i made a C in--the other's are A's. does pharmcas sub your highest class in that category or what? im just a little confused here....

Pharmcas does not do the math for prereq GPA. They average all reported classes together by what category you put them into. So your 3 A and 1 C were all averaged together.

No pre-req gpa. They only do groupings by class type (ie: science, math, etc).

Depends on the school. Some school's do pre-req GPA.

ok so pharmcas doesnt do that...but what about the universities that do? if you have mulitple classes that are canidates and say they only requre 6 hrs. which two classes do they choose? the one with the higher grades or the first/last ones you took?

Most likely, they will just check for the two classes but then average all of the (insert subject here) classes together... however some schools do only take the highest two. Look on their website.

That's a question for the specific schools you are applying to. Call them and find out.

So far, three of the four schools I've applied to have had a prereq worksheet where you input what classes you are using to meet their prereq's. This takes the guesswork out of it for you and the work out of it for them. The schools that don't, I'm sure they do the work for you, and probably have the articulation tables to see which classes they'll take from your school.

Ok, so I got an e-mail back a couple of days ago that reads, "Your application was verified on 11/04/06. PharmCAS generates a mailing every Friday, which is sent to the Pharmacy schools every Monday. Your application will be sent in the next mailing, which will be sent out Monday, November 13" which I think is consistent with the information you were given Tennis.

Oddly enough, I checked my designation status today and, next to each of my schools, it read, "Printout Mailed on Nov 09, 2006." So I thought maybe I'd shed some more light on exactly how PharmCAS operates to help those who are still applying, but I guess I'll just be adding to the confusion now. I guess the important thing to know (which most of us already do know) is that it will take a few weeks after you e-submit. I submitted on Oct. 21st and my printouts mailed on Nov. 9th. As to the exact activity that goes on at PharmCAS, I have no clue.

List all courses from a single transcript before you enter courses from the next transcript.

This is the instructions for entering your transcripts to pharmacas. When it says "single transcript" does that mean for instance I went to school 1 and school 2. Would I report everything from school 1 first even though I went to school 1 for one year school 2 the next year and then school 1 again. Or does it just mean "single transcript" as in each semester or whatever. I know my schools sends my whole history on 1 transcript. I dunno. I hope I didn't just confuse you all. Thanks.

For those that are admitted, is the average GPA say for UCSF the combined PharmCAS GPA or just the prerequisite GPA? I'm asking this because my PharmCAS overall GPA is like a 3.6 but my science GPA is like a 3.23. It also includes a lot of irrelevant courses in 'science.' I don't think it's a very accurate depiction..especially since it includes a lot of courses I had taken 6 years ago (via community college) that increasingly padded my GPA.

What other classes do they calculate in with the Science GPA?

Random other courses I took that were not particularly difficult but were still 'science' classes.

I don't understand why you are bothered by your gpa being padded by the CC classes, but mad that it makes your science gpa lower, even though those sciences courses were not particularly difficult?

I'm not mad, I'm just trying to distinguish the exactly definition of "average GPA of accepted students." This would mean that the schools' prerequisite GPA might actually be lower.

I think when they say "average GPA" they are referring to cumulative GPA--most schools will specify "science GPA" when they are referring to science GPA... this is just a thought though (I certainly hope average GPA is cumulative and not science, otherwise I'm even more screwed!) :luck:

When I receive my grades for this fall semester do we send PharmCAS a transcript so they can update my applications?

Not only pharmcas, but some schools require their own set. If you look at USC's fine print, you have to send them a copy too or they'll cancel your app.

Thank you, ADN1226 and Farmercyst. 👍

I looked at my transcript and at the pharmcas GPA, its completed different. Pharmcas lowered my GPA by alot. I'm not sure if this could be a possible error or that pharmcas calculates GPA differently than the school does.

Thanks for sharing, I guess it shows that people make mistakes, just like when you wrote completed different. You should call PharmCAS and tell them about it.

Hey I was wondering....I will be e-submitting my application on PharmCAS on the 1st, but I only have 2 references. I may be getting a third one later....can we still update references once it's submitted? Or is that the only thing we can update since it's not messing with the information that we have submitted in the first place?😳

Is there any way I can see what my pre-req GPA is in my pharmcas application. I noticed that they did not put any pre-req gpa.😕

Does anyone know if there is a way to go back and edit coursework planned on the pharmcas application after it has been e-submitted? I recently decided to add two more courses to my planned coursework for spring 2007 so that I can fulfill all the pre-req's for nova southeastern.

PHARMCAS doesn't calculate pre-req GPAs. Schools have different pre-requisites, so there's no way PHARMCAS would be able to calculate a pre-req GPA for each individual school.

You're best off asking pharmcas themselves, they're pretty nice people. It doesn't seem like they would send the updated reference to the schools... they might once they send in the course/ transcript updates? I'm sure you can request them to send the 3rd reference once its submitted but call to make sure.

Errors are always possible. Do you have classes that you've retaken or delete/repeated? Pharmcas takes into account every class that you've taken, even if your current school does not.

they also count your transfer classes even if your current school does not accept the transferred grade (but on a pass fail basis).

I hope so. I know they open it up so you can update your grades after fall quarter/semester, but I don't know if they will let you update the future coursework at the same time. I have two classes I couldn't take because of schedule conflicts (going to two schools at the same time🙄 )

Hey guys, I have a question about the electronic letter of reference on Pharmcas. I have completed my application, submitted my fees, and they got my transcripts and GPA's up, but my reference providers tell me they completed the electronic reference, but the status is still listed as IN PROGRESS. I was wondering if anybody thinks this is a glitch as a result of doing the LOR after e-submitting...?? or why does the status not get to complete??

I have never heard of an "in process" status for LOR's. Usually it's pending if the recommender has not opened the link yet, incomplete if the recommender has opened the link but not finished, and received if the recommender is done. But I am not positive. Good luck!😕

I was just going through my pharmcas stuff and on the designations status I sawthe regular application mail out date. But I also saw something about "revisions mailed on Jan 02, 2006" .....anybody got any clue what the hell that is??😕

you will have to revise your class grades to update them for the fall term. 🙂

Would this go under honors and awards or would it go under extracurricular activities?

It would go under Honors and Awards.

Thank you!

PharmCAS confused me because they used being on the deans list as an example for making an entry under extracurricular activities....confusing...
