Pharmcas took forever with my application(s). Do not wait untill the last minute. The more people applying (as the deadline draws nearer) the longer it takes.

Are you serious? I had the same problem with one of my references. I contacted the teacher, and she said she never received an email. I ask PharmCas to send my teacher another request. I have all of my references now! Have you contacted your teacher or PharmCas to see if maybe there was an email problem?
Be sure to instruct your professor to check their spam filter.

I applied last year and had all the same questions. If you're not sure about something...email them. They are very nice and will give you a good, quick, concise answer. AND can save you from waiting until the last minute thinking...should I have done this? Most likely, yes you should have. If somethings not updated when they say it should have been...inquire!

Good Luck!

Can I ask the cost? And time it took you to fill out the application?

She is a pharmacist and I went to the store where she works and asked if she received the email and she said she did. She said she filled out all the questions she just needed to do the actual letter part. That has been well over a month ago. I think she just might be a little lazy.

When I submitted my PharmCAS application, I double-checked everything and I got a message when I tried to submit it that everything on the "courses" list had to be on the transcript that I sent to PharmCAS from my University. I don't have my Spring 2006 planned classes on this transcript, so I deleted the Spring 2006 category under the "courses" version of the application.

But then AFTER I submitted the application I realized that, oh god, I still have Microeconomics as a Prepharm requisite in Spring 2006!! :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

So I'm just terribly confused right now. When I went to look under FAQs in the "courses" section it actually SAID "Do not include Spring 2006/Summer2006 classes" so I thought I wasn't supposed to put them on there...but I still have Prepharmacy classes to take in Spring 2006!

Should I sent out a new transcript and a transcript change request to PharmCAS ASAP?! I'm afraid colleges will reject me right off the bat because I don't have Microeconomics anywhere on my application...

Check with the school you are applying to.
I believe is not necessary to have all prereqs at the time of the application, as long as you take the class before you start your first year P1.
Also, I thought you can edit that Planed courses section in Pharmcas.
Anybody know anything about that?
😕

Don't worry, I'm in the same boat. When I finished my PharmCAS application I wasn't sure exactly when I would be taking Microeconomics & Public Speaking (neither of which I took in Undergrad) to complete my pre-reqs so I didn't include those classes anywhere on my application. I'm taking them Spring 2006 at the Commumity College by my house and plan on updating my PharmCAS app. during the 'academic update window,' which I believe opens around the 1st of the year. No need to panic... I looked at all the schools I'm applying to and most just require that the pre-reqs be completed either by the end of Spring 2006 or Summer 2006.

PharmCAS has this window of academic update thingy sometime in Dec through Jan., so it's okay. Those schools in which you have applied to with PharmCAS will see your academic progress as it's going, so don't worry! Most schools will want to see your future transcripts, up until the end of Spring 2006 to see which classes you have actually completed vs. your planned courses.

So I have a billion courses because I started as a Music Student and morphed into a premed.
I entered all my completed courses in PhamCAS, and checked them a bunch of times before submitting them.
Still I made a couple of mistakes on the amount of credits that they are worth. The system won't let me fix it! 😱

Has anybody made the same mistake? Did it hurt your chances of admission?

Thank you. I am worried. :scared:

If you want to fix it, you have to REDO the ENTIRE thing. I feel your pain. I had over 200 hours of courses to enter because I had an Art degree in addition to the BS I just finished. I had one small mistake and I couldn't figgure out how to edit it. I called PharmCAS and they said the only way to fix was to delete an entire session and START OVER. Yet another reason why that lame ass, poorly designed, non user-friendly site known as PharmCAS really SUCKS!!

I hated PharmCAS.

I already esubmitted. They verified it. I am stuck with it!!
Thank you for feeling my pain. Did it take long after you enter each course too?

Isn't it PharmCAS's job to change any mistakes after you have submitted - isn't that their "verification" process? If they didn't fix it, I would be really pissed at them! I would definitely call them.

The way I see it is PhamCAS job to point out where you made a mistake with your application for everyone to see!
GRRR 😡

I just think that their site design and data entry design is VERY poor. I mean, come on. You should be able to edit stuff without deleting everything and starting over 🙄 ....

I had to go in and redo a bunch of stuff... Took me forever to complete the application, because in proofing I would notice, "hey, I forgot a comma" or something like that, and instead of being able to go in and edit, I had to entirely REDO whatever section it was. What a miserable pain.

Again, PharmCAS sucks.

is there anything on pharmcas that changes when you've been accepted to a school? like do they change anything on the site that can give you a hint that you've been accepted somewhere? or does it just stay the same?

No.

I have a chemical engineering degree and have all teh pre-req done from college. Graduated in 2001. Looking at pharmacy as 2nd career. Does pharmcas only want the gpa of pre-req in science, math etc or all the science and math I took?? Pharmcas doesnt specify. Can someone clarify?

They litterally want every single class you have ever, ever taken. It's a huge pain.

what is Pharmcas?

i'm applying in texas and was just wondering if we didn't have that or i'm completely not in the loop.

I can help with this one.....TX schools don't use Pharmcas. (and be thankful for that. Seems like the Pharmcas process is a hassle...of course, TX schools have their own hoops to jump through).

Does anyone know if PharmCAS will send out an email notification for modifying course schedules or do I have to keep checking the messages on pharmCAS?

You will get an email from PharmCAS telling you that you can update your coursework. I believe it begins December 15th.

Does anyone know how a NC (no credit) grade on a C (credit)/NC class is considered in PharmCAS?

I signed up for a Bio Practicum late in this semester (last week) to finish a lab project. Yesterday, I found out I will receive a NC grade because I was not in the class for enough hours. I thought, "Great! Why would the school even allow someone to add the class this late in the semester just to give them a NC!!!" Isn't this considered like an F (no pass)??? If I would have known this, I would not even have bothered adding the class.

Wow that bites. Did you talk to the dean of your college about it? Sounds like something you could argue for...

I got an email from PharmCAS about Academic Update. I have a question about entering in coursework. It says to enter the course exactly as it appears on the transcript. Well, I don't have my Fall 2005 transcript yet and I won't until the middle of January, because the offices are all closed now because of the holidays. All I was able to do was put in a request so that the transcript can be sent out to PharmCAS when the office opens again in January. My school likes to abbreviate class names on the transcript; for example, Microbiology became "Micro" (not a good thing actually...) and I have no idea how they will abbreviate the class names this time but I need to know now so I can enter them in the Coursework section in PharmCAS. So, does anyone know if PharmCAS is anal about the way you enter class names? Does it REALLY have to be exactly the way it appears? Like if I were to enter "Organic Chem I" and it turns out the transcript really says "Org Chem I," would they have a major problem?

Sorry if this is a dumb/anal question...

Make sure you double check before you click esubmit.
I am not updating, but when entering my courses I made a mistake in 2 classes in the # of credit hours.
I hope is no big deal, but they verify and show it in a very conspicuous way!
I can't fix that! 😡

I was wondering have any of you already submitted AU on PharmCAS? I won't be able to until I get my Fall 2005 transcript, which will be in the middle of January. Is this "late"? I feel like it is, because a lot of my schools want my O Chem I grade before further review of my app.

I just recently e-submitted my application a few days ago. The Academic Update window doesn't even show up on my account. :scared: I'm kind of nervous I won't be able to update my fall grades before the January 1st deadline.

This is from the PHARMCAS FAQ's

Q: When is the Academic Update window?

A: Academic Update is open from December 15 through March 1 2005. Applicants must be delivered BEFORE February 1 to be considered for an Academic Update.

But I wouldn't procrastinate on this. I'm doing right when I get all my grades. Remember, you can only submit it once so make sure you have all your grades before updating. =)

Is the Academic Update available only after Pharmcas goes over the entire application and calculates the GPAs?

How about changing or adding another evaluator to Pharmcas application? Anyone know if it is okay to do that now?

I think so, but I'm not really sure though.

Does anyone know if it's okay to change or maybe add another evaluator to Pharmcas application at this point. My application was submitted on the 20th of November.
Thanks

This is really weird, but my updated GPAs are already showing up without submitting what I added in Academic Update.

I just called up pharmcas and the guy told me my academic update won't be available until they went over my application and sent it out. Deadline for the AU is January 31st. Since I e-submitted my app on the 19th of this month, I'll be cutting it pretty close considering it may take 5 weeks for them to finish looking over my application. :scared:

I don't believe you can make any changes to your application once it has been e-submitted.

Damn stupid PharmCAS!!! They put my account on hold for some reason and now I can't even login to look at my app! They said it was because my transcript hasn't been received yet. But my GPAs had been updated. This is ridiculous. Now my schools won't be able to see any updates online.

Because a stupid mistake PharmCAS made, my app is now on hold. I cannot even login. Is this a bad thing? They say they will remove the hold when they get my Fall 2005 transcript. They put it on hold because THEY made the mistake of updating my GPAs without receiving my Fall 2005 transcript. I'm just kinda worried.

I just submitted my AU. I was under the impression that schools will have access to your files, during the entire AU process, even if your fall transcripts are pending.

IMPORTANT: To expedite the update process, PharmCAS gives your designated pharmacy schools real-time, secure, and encrypted access to your entire application on-line. Upon receipt of your up-to-date official transcripts for course work that you have updated, PharmCAS will verify the updated information, recalculate your PharmCAS GPA scores, and resend hard copies of your application to all of your designated pharmacy programs.

BTW, I can still log on to my account. Maybe you can ask them to reverse whatever they did to fix yours. 😕

I asked them to, they won't do it. All cuz of their stupid mistake! 🙁 I'm so fried...!

I've been trying to submit my application since yesterday. But apparently the login site on pharmcas is down. And the application is due today. I've emailed the administrator and tell them to fix it already, but not sure when they'll get to it. What should I do? Thanks!

Actually (I could be wrong) I think that the applications are due on jan.2 because today's a sunday. I wouldn't stake my life on it, but i remember seeing that somewhere...

From the Pharmcas site:

After your application, official transcripts and fee are received, allow up to 5 weeks for PharmCAS to process your application. Whenever a deadline falls on a weekend or Federal holiday, the deadline is automatically extended to 11:59pm EASTERN time on the next business day.

Does anybody know if these are tax deductible?
What about the cost of interviewing?
I know this is not a tax forum, but we have all this in common:

1.We spend a ****-load applying for school.
2.We pay taxes.

As I read the tax guide, no. It is not a business expense nor is it a education expense, as defined as required AND paid to the school. It might be possible, if you get paid by the school as a work program, that you could declare moving expenses or the interview (if it's combined), but that's likely to just send up red flags.

I should know more after talking to my tax account later this week so I can post then, but I think this is just a lovely little 'just eat it' expense.

Thise guys are really starting to aggravate me. It's been 4 weeks since I sent my transcript to them and they still have not calculated my GPA. It is one transcript and the GPA is a 4.0. It would take somebody 2 minutes if they actually sat down and did it. On top of that, once they do the GPA, they have 2 week delivery via UPS. What kind of service is that? The super-duper express-saver donkey delivery? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the standard on first class mail 3 days? Maybe I should mail them a stamp.

I can't believe I paid Pharmcas all that money to sit on my stuff while the application cycle is ticking away. It is becoming harder as each day passes to restrain myself. But I'm certainly going to let them have a piece of my mind once this process is completed.

I feel u on that..they r xtremly slow despite all that money they take from applicants. I thot I was d only one feeling that way.

So after e-submitting.. can all of the schools we applied to view our applications? Do they have to wait until pharmcas calculates the GPA to consider us? If so, then is applying a week or day before the deadline pointless since the school would only get the app after 4-5 weeks?

I'm still a little fuzzy on this whole procedure. I e-submitted on the 19th of last month. 😳

I'm not sure about some of your questions but rest assured every other applicant is going through that same wait. So in relative terms, you're no farther behind than anyone else who is submitting things on the same day as you. Hang in there! 🙂
P.S. Yes, schools can see your PharmCas app online immediately.

I'm pretty sure after you e-submit the schools can see it immediately. I'd be willing to bet they wait until pharmcas calculates your gpa before they consider though, just so that they have all the info available to them.

As far as earliness is concerned, I think if you get everything in before the deadline, the schools prefer that. In my experience it's a very good idea to finish your app early, even if the school doesn't having rolling admissions. Rock on you guys, good luck with everything.
