Hi all, welcome to my first thread/post. I'm currently applying, but due to some family/life situations I had going on in the summer, my apps went out Sep-Oct. I've been lucky to get one II from a reach, but I was wondering, would it be best to withdraw from the other schools I haven't heard from (all but the II one), and if I don't get into the reach (which probably will happen, bc its a reach haha), reapply next year?

In the meantime I could work at my job, and gain more clinical volunteering/shadowing exp (which I haven't done much of, and would be a compelling reason to wait a year, imo). Thanks for your help, I've been going crazy about this

I’m not sure why you’d withdraw at this point. You will still be considered a reapplication next cycle at all of the schools you applied to this year. You’ve completed the process so I’d wait. Maybe you’ll get lucky and get some interviews and maybe even an acceptance. But do keep up with your activities etc. in case you have to reapply.

Thanks CBG, I'll probably do as you say. Would love to hear from others before I send out some letters of interest- also, would being a re applicant bc I applied late be a big weakness if I apply early next cycle?

Suppose one of the schools you haven't heard from sends you an II this Friday.

Will you go?

Just because you already have an II from one school, that doesn't NOT mean you have an accept. In fact, you're a reject until you get the accept email in your Inbox

Being a reapplicant can be an issue. Schools will expect significant improvement on your application. Schools will know you applied late but they won’t know why and they might think you just decided to apply without much thought at all. And that can show a lack of judgement or planning.

Thanks Goro! As for your second point, I agree completely. For your first point, tbh I'm not quite sure. I guess I'm wondering if reapplying early is a bigger stab than just waiting it out.
And CBG- I see, during the year I would do some major clin/shadowing work and would gain 2 great recs, but that will be all of the changes- I won't be touching my stats GPA, MCAT wise. If I do reapply, I could bring up what happened in the summer and see how that goes over. Big thanks to you two!
