Hi everyone,
I am an international student doing my DDS in University at Buffalo (I am not a foreign dentist). I did my undergrad in US too. My question is how do I go about getting hired by a dental company to work when i graduate? dont i have to be licensed in the state that i will eventually work in? how will this work out? please help!!!

hi,
if i understand the system correctly... you are licensed to practice anywhere in the USA becaus eyou will have qualified from an american university. however, depending on the state that you decide to reside in, you will have to take the board exams for that particular state so that you can practice in that state. Eg: you decide to stay in california after finishing up at Buffalo.. you are licensed to practice anywhere, however, you must take the california licensing exam to be eligible to practice ONLY in california. 10 years later...you decide to move to newyork.. you will then have to take the licensing exms from new york state.
hope that helps and answers your questions.
best wishes and regards..🙂

will some company hire me and give me a work visa? i will have to go where they ask me to...in that case how will i know in advance which states exam i will have to take?
