hi all
i have been visiting this site for a while.i know all the sdn members are very helpful and i really appreciate it.
but now i m in big dilemma.i have been here in US for almost 2 yrs.but now we are planning to go back to our home country india.so i have a question now that whether i should go for three month preceptorship programme to get a certificate and then return to india or just go back without doing that programme.i have a 2 yrs work experience in india.i was wondering that will i be able to get a job after such a long 2 yrs break in bangalore.can anyone help me in this condition.
please help me guys...really appreciate ...

thanx for the response sonibun and jgr.
i inquired bout preceptorship programme and found out that they dont allow u to do anything there u just have to observe there in the hospital.and the fees is $5000.do u still think this programme is worth doing.
do u know any other short term courses other than the preceptorship programme in UCLA i can do here.....

i think you can go for a few courses ...whenever you go back to india you will have an added asset and you wont feel that you have not gained anything.....in two years here in u.s.
secondly i have seen a few dentists in india who have done such advanced courses from u.s. and are having good practice in india now.....
i dont have much knowledge about these courses but one of the dentist had done advanced course from texas about aesthetic dentistry......you can try in other universities also......

good luck in whatever you decide finally...after all its a career thing

if you take up some course here before u leave to INDIA ,before u leave im sure it would definately be added advantage to u .
firstly it will upgrade profile for any job with some private practitioner or hospital. also when u later plan to start up with your own office , it will definately be a BONUS...
accrnd to my opinion ,u must go in for some cosmetic dentistry program here, if not, if u have few mnths available before u leave the best would be go in for some course on IMPLANTOLOGY...
back home in INDIA ,dentist r doing so many such courses.
there r private institutes in india which have faculty coming from american universities , and they conduct such courses , n the cost is around 2- 3lakhs week end courses for 6-7 mnths .
if im not wrong , u check up with buffulo UNIVERSITY ny, they have something like this for internation doctors

thanks a lot for ur reply. Can you tell me what other universities other than buffalo offer such courses. i am looking for a 6 month course which has clinicals. Also do you know if the UCLA preceptorship program is useful because I have heard they dont allow you to do clinicals.

nyu has international courses in ortho, implant, aesthetics, etc and they r one year's duration. check out nyu website and u will get complete details on the course u want. good luck!
