I know different schools look at Post BACC GPA in different ways. I was wondering if you guys can post information about particular schools that how they look at POST BACC GPA. It will be helpfull to all of us who are thinking of doing it and will know how many units we need to do and what schools we have bst shot at.

Thanks

I will Start with Wayne State

  • Wayen State : 20 Units or more in Science in post bacc. They will ignore your undergrad GPA.

Are you sure about that? I mean my experience with medical schools is that they NEVER ignore undergrad GPA.

Most schools will use the column on AMCAS that is undergrad GPA plus ug postbac and use that as your cumulative ug GPA for purposes of the application. Thus you can lever up your GPA by acing a lengthy postbac. Generally it is difficult to get away from the undergrad GPA altogether, other than by averaging it up with a postbac in this way. In some cases, if the undergrad was long ago and the postbac years are substantial, schools reportedly will weight what you have done lately more heavilly.
There is a postbac board on SDN where this question probably fits better.

Well thats what lady at wayne state told me. I asked so what I do to increase my chances for next year. Since my GPA is what it is..and even if i take 30 more units it wont shift much.
She said with more than 20 units in post bacc we would look at that GPA rather than Undergrad.

This thread was moved to Post bacc forum earlier by another senior member who later brought it back to Pre-Allo forum after reading it fully. This thread doesnt talk about Post bacc programs but about application process for medical schools once you have completed the post bacc program.

Information about other schools policy about Post Bacc GPA will be greatly appreciated.

I spoke to them about this same thing a few months ago, they don't exactly "ignore" it, but they focus more on it than they do to your undergrad GPA.... and I "think" they apply this rule mostly to thier in-staters

that's also what the DEAN of wayne state told me.

Wow that's incredible. I mean I've got nearly 70 hours and if you only count that I've got a 3.9. I wonder if it's too late to send them a primary as well😀

Ok Folks the point of this thread was not to discuss Wayne State policy but compile as list of policies of all the schools. So please contribute to the thread.
