Now that I have just registered for my MCAT exam, I was just wondering what you scored on your actual exam and what you were getting on the practice exams under the same "testing conditions." I just want to get an idea of what I can expect. Thanks!

Which practice tests are you referring to? AAMC, TPR, kaplan?

The TPR series are known for being a bit harder than the real thing, kaplan easier, and the AAMC are more on the money.

Ditto on those AAMC tests.

I found that Kaplan practice tests are usually harder than the AAMC's but the scaled scores come out the same (e.g. you will miss more questions but get the same number score).

Oh yeah I forgot, one Kaplan tearcher told us to average the last 4 or 5 practice full lengths and that is the score you could expect on the MCAT within a couple of points high or low.

It happened in my case.

Compared to the scores I was getting using the recently retired tests, my actual scores varied as follows on the April '07 MCAT:

1 pt higher than my best score on Verbal
1 pt lower than my worst score on PS
Same as what I consistly scored on Bio

...so in my experience, it was a fairly accurate measurement of what I was likely to score. If it was me, I'd walk in assuming you'll get one point lower than your lowest score on each section, and if that's a score you are okay with, go for it. That way if it's slightly higher you'll be pleasantly surprised.

AAMC 7, 8 and 9 were very accurate.

yup...that sounds right for me. Kaplan tests were harder (but w/ a heavy scale) and the earlier AAMC (1-4) were a lot easier than later AAMC exams. Everyone is different...

glck :)

my BS was at the highest its been, PS was about right and verbal was an all time low...i blame lack of caring about verbal and more focus on sciences. nevertheless, i took every single kaplan test and EK test 1g and on all but like 3 of those tests i got exactly what i got on the real deal.

I scored the same on the verbal section for Kaplan, AAMC, and actual (usually around 13-14, 14 on actual). The Kaplan PS would kick my ass, but the actual was 3 pts higher. If you don't do too well on Kaplan science sections- there's still hope!

I agree, the last two scores from Kaplan's practice exam was exactly what I got on the MCAT.

I was about 1 point higher than my average of PS...I was on an upward trend though so I expected it.

I was the same for BS

Verbal was signficantly lower than anything I'd done before that. 3 points lower than my very first diagnostic and 4/5 points lower than my average on the AAMC tests.

I scored the same on Verbal as Kaplan tests...I gained 2 points both PS and BS....but there was a lot of content studying happening in the last week, so that was probably what raised my score more than differences in the tests.
