Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship 2020/2021 cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Has anyone applied/considered applying to sleep fellowships at the same places where you applied for Pulm/CC? Starting to get desperate here!

It's been over two weeks since my last invite. Are other people still getting things pretty regularly?

I got 2 invites in the past week, so they are definitely still trickling in! Keep your heads up and fingers crossed! This season has certainly been brutal.

I would say keep the hope but also why not last year my friend told me sleep positions were all taken before SOAP

Can you apply for both in the same year? go through match for sleep (which is earlier) and then PCCM to see which one sticks? How does the timing works??!

I honestly have no idea but this is what my friend told me because I know some ppl would think of going to sleep incase PCCM doesn't work and they would think some positions might be available during SOAP

I believe that most of the CCM programs already filled their spots( except for the NY ones).
Unfortunately I did not receive offers from my top choices and I believe that my season is over.
Regarding the process, everyone is saying: this year has been extremely competitive, lot of qualified applicants bla bla bla etc...
do you guys think that this is the new norm for CCM programs? That means that next year is going to be more competitive?

What are you talking about? Most of the ccm programs in PA and NJ are still interviewing...

Interviews are still going on. I would say not even 50% of the programs are filled yet.

Is USC Greenville filled or was that marked in error?

I'm also curious about this. I have an interview scheduled with them next week and would hope they would notify if that were the case.

Did anyone get or heard about interview invitations from University of Arkansas PCCM program.

Any reason to do more than 10 interviews? Based on prior stats 8 is the magic number. I wonder tho if it is safer to do more given how unusual this year is. Thanks!

Got none this week, are you guys still getting interviews?
Nada. Only thing I got was an email UofA - Tucson Program (PCCM) saying that they're sending out interviews on 09/25 and so if you don't hear from them, good luck.

I wish there was a way for programs to just show that they rejected s since emailing is obviously too difficult. Then I could at least quit checking my email every 20 minutes.

Only reason I'd say yes is because all interviews are zoom and don't require paying for airfare/hotel. If you don't want to risk re-applying and don't care about where you specifically end up, then I wouldn't argue against using this method this year. It's PCCM - why risk having to re-apply?

I would love for everyone to cancel interviews but to be honest I would continue to knock em out until I can't do anymore. I know a guy who matched at his 15th choice last year which was his last rank and pulm only.

Also to those asking about interviews, I know someone who got 3 between Thursday and Friday so looks like some are still sending invites here and there.

Accepted a CCM spot today, so pending signing an offer will be dropping 8 PCCM interviews. Keep your heads up folks!
Also accepted a ccm position. Signed letter of intent but feels weird canceling interviews without signing a contract. Anyone know when to expect a contract? Ideally would like to cancel my interviews with enough time to give other people a chance to interview

Did you sign a LOI?

To my knowledge and what happened with me in my current fellowship, a letter of intent should be fine as programs usually send contract a couple of months after

Good grief guys, this has been a rough season so far, I’m still holding out hope but gosh this was unexpected... so much silence lol

I cant edit the google docs, but CCM ROWAN/jeff filled all of their spots this weekend if anyone wants cross them off. I believe I also saw someone mention UMD filled as well

I can’t edit the google doc either. Is this a common problem?

Anyone out there willing to trade interview days for Texas A&M BSW PCCM? PM me if so, please!

I agree it does feel weird and kinda like what if something happens and I loose it? Just accepted a CCM offer in the Bay Area but I felt odd emailing the other programs to remove myself from consideration. Oh well! Good luck and congrats to those who have accepted as well

Anyone heard back from Rosalind Franklin after emailing them back with interview date choices?

Mayo Clinic sent me rejection email 8 times in 5 min

Bahaha ME too! I was like, OK I GET IT. Also screw you aint no one wanna be in Rochester, MN...j/k that me justifying things since I'm bitter I never was interviewed 😛

Anyone knows if Nassau, Stony brook or U of Arkansas sent interviews or not?

Is it worse to send a late thank you email than to not send one at all?
