When person applies to the pre-professional programs at Drexel (IMS, MSP, DPMS)....can they check all three boxes...will the adcoms assign us to the one they think is best suited for us?

Also...i do not mean to start a flame war here...but could someone give me some examples or an explanation of how one is qualified to do the DPMS? Could someone "numberwise" be acceptable to IMS or MSP but still get into DPMS?

Thanks

You have to be considered disadvantaged to get into the DPMS program. I would say that their stats are lower than people in the IMS program and maybe on par or a bit lower than those in the MSP program.

DPMS is smaller than the other programs and has that nice guarantee of med school if you complete the program to their specfications. However, unless you are disadvantaged/URM, you won't be getting into the DPMS program.

I can't say that if a person is qualified for the IMS program but fits the reqs for DPMS if they'll put them in one or the other. I'm inclined to say they'll go to the IMS program, because that really does give them a better shot of getting into other medical schools. DPMS students are locked into one choice (and only if they do well).

As for IMS vs. MSP, I think that they certainly evaluate which one you are better suited for. Given that MSP students go onto the IMS program their second year, it gives you an idea of the level of the students. IMS students generally have decent MCAT scores and are right under the average for med school matriculants. MSP students need to improve their MCAT in addition to working on their GPA.
