I am a sophomore biochemistry major. I have run into a dilemma and I would like to get opinions abut what I should do.

Currently, I am enrolled in 15 credit hours. The following are the classes I am taking:

  1. Macro molecular structure and function.
  2. physiology
  3. Organic Chemistry 2.
  4. Human Anatomy.
  5. Organic Chemistry 1 Lab.
In addition to this, I work in a cancer Immunology lab for about 15-20 hours a week. Through this, I have 4 co-authored publications, one of which is a 1st author.

In addition to this, I work 15-20 hours as a pharmacy tech, primarily for money.

In addition to this, I participate in aiding in the conduction of clinical research.

Clearly, I have taken too much on. It is a shame I didn't realize this sooner, in any case, now I'm just trying to figure out what my best option is.

Specifically, I have never received a B before. Of the classes I am taking, I have A's in all of them, except for Organic chemistry 2. Last semester, I got an A + in Organic chemistry 1; however, this is the result of an immense amount of studying that I have failed to do this semester.

For the first exam in Orgo 2, I got a low B. For the second, I got an F. With this in mind, it is pretty obvious I won't be able to get an A. My question is the following:

Is it better for me to find the time and study as much as I can and get a B (noting that it is very likely I will get a C) this semester in Orgo 2 OR withdraw from the class, take it over the summer, and get an A?

I know I am capable of getting an A over the summer with out much trouble at all, i just don't know if that is preferable to the other option of getting a B/C since I would have to withdraw.

Thanks.

In your case it may be useful to withdraw and take the class again (1-2 W's won't hurt you). Hopefully you won't be as busy over the summer. Use this as a learning experience to not take on too much at once.
