i missed Ga last night because of chem today which was alright but could have been better, and i'll miss the finale because of my phys exam tomorrow. And I am sick

Yeah, you know what the craziest part is? If you're suicidal and try to kill yourself with Tylenol, it gives you a window of several hours to change your mind. They have several hours to administer the N-acetylcysteine to you after you ingest it, along with pumping your stomach. On that happy note, I think I will go eat dinner. 😛

One other interesting factoid I've read somewhere is that if acetominophen were discovered today, it would probably not gain FDA approval. Neither would aspirin. 😀

goljan hates the stuff and thinks it should be taken off the market, he makes that clear in his audio. its the #1 cause of fulminant liver failure in the US.

You know, I think I am gonna absolutely LOVE medical school. 😀 At least the first two years of it....and hopefully I won't be too incompetent during the second two. 😳

everyone thinks that, then the honeymoon is over a couple of months into it and you turn into me. you may actually be different though, you're definitely crazy enough. studying medicine is really interesting and gratifying but in med school it just all gets crammed down your throat. its like trying to drink water from a fire hydrant.

yeah........ i will GLADLY leave 1st and 2nd year to you as i move on to the wards next month. 😀

i doubt that, your patients are going to be really lucky to have you as their doctor. you're brilliant! i'm sure you'll rawk ALL 4 years of medical school.

I AM SO PISSED RIGHT NOW!! I just had to completely reformat and rewrite my PS because of the TMDSAS stupid formating rules. It blows now! What do I do - I'M SO MAD!!! 😡 😡 😡

(BTW, should i leave the longer version for AMCAS since they let me use the extra space?)

In other news, I am considering starting The Society for the Protection of Dead Horses over in Pre-Allo. Anyone want to join? The requirements for membership are:

1. You must try really, really hard not to beat dead horses (the occasional lapse will, of course, be forgiven).
2. You must advocate for dead horses whenever you see them being beaten by posting the Society for the Protection of Dead Horses logo on any thread wherein a dead horse is being beaten. I am still in the process of designing this logo but it will based on something like this:

Yet another reason I am happy I do not live in Texas... Although I have spent about about half a year in that lone star state! I'm glad I haven't been back. Why would you need to reformat it? You made it too long? Either way, just tell them you know Chuck Norris and you're set.

It must be 80 characters by 62 lines. But if you put it in and the line is more than 80 characters across, they cut it off when you try to submit. Wow, thanks Tools, you could have just given me an error instead of making me go back through the entire thing. 😡

What the... how the heck are you supposed to figure that out? Why would that system even require formatting like that? Doesn't it skip to the next line when the little box is filled up? I don't understand Texas at all. I bet president Bush had something to do with this because he is from Texas. 😛

Yes, graduation was this weekend (I didn't go). I'm finally done!!!! My paper was utter crapola but at least it's over. 😀

isnt that from the movie "Time Cop"? ie, "the same matter cannot occupy the same space." now tell me, how the **** do i remember some quote from the movie time cop but not the different side effects of all the different antibiotic classes that i read this weekend?!?! ugh

It's all a matter of priorities, A-man. 🙂 I'll help you a little. I've been reading about Gram-positives this week. First I read about the cocci. You can differentiate Staph from Strep b/c Staph is catalase-positive, and also by how they grow. Staph forms globs or clusters, while Strep forms chains or pairs. They are both facultative organisms (not sure how Strep spp. can survive in O2 w/out catalase though 😕 ). There are four lettered groups of Streptococci; S. pyogenes is group A and is the cause of strep throat.

Now I've started in on the rods. The non-spore-forming Gram positive rods are Lysteria and Corynebacterium (hope I spelled those ok) and the spore-forming ones are Bacillus and Cloistridium. I haven't finished reading about the last two yet. Cornyebacterium causes diptheria, and Lysteria causes food poisoning. You can tell them apart because Lysteria are motile at RT and Cornyebacterium aren't.

Ok, there is your bacteriology review. 😀

But did you hear that the MCAT in 2007 is going to be shorter and computerized? How will this change the scoring? Will there still be breaks? Can I go back to questions? Won't the fact that it is shorter make it easier, making the curve harder. :scared:
