As long as she doesn't *always* use the third person I don't think it's a problem. It might even be a phase - a lot of kids watch Elmo and call themselves by their name or a nickname.

Sesame Street is a good show but Elmo drives me nuts!

On Direct TV they now have a baby channel with stuff like Baby Einstein, etc.

She almost always uses third person - we correct her and then she gets it right, but then she'll go back to using third person again. 😕

You are exactly right. I just told her to put me on her ignore list and I'll do the same for her and let it be.

My red-headedness catches up to me sometimes. That, and there's nothing on TV. I'm going to go read about gardening I think. Unless there are any more speech-language questions?
Look, she apologized. I think it's time for you to forgive her and let it all go. I don't want to have to close the random thread over this. 😛

Incorrect. I mistakenly said "yeah-your husband is an ex-con right?" (it's her ex-husband that's a con or ex-con or whatever. Just read her blog I'm sure the info is there). I did this after you attacked me in another thread that had nothing to do with homosexuality. I was having a bad day and overreacted. Realizing this, I edited that post before you had time to respond (or for many people to even read it)-but you decided to repost my original one-since you have responding posts sent to your email address. Then, you complained to the mods about it after I had edited it. I then additionally sent you a PM apologizing. Just like in real life, people can sometimes post things they regret. At least I was big enough to admit it and apologize, huh, Megboo?

You, on the other hand-attacked me for stating that you don't have to have the best grades to get into an FP residency-claiming that I was debasing the profession. Let me reiterate that I have nothing but the utmost respect for primary care and think that they provide a great service.

And you've now called me a jerk behind my back-you've also dropped in other threads I was posting in to add a 🙄 . Though I don't expect an apology from you-I do expect you to be honest. And if you are going to go exposing your personal life all over the internet-expect that a few people may make comments you don't like. And they may not be as big as me to apologize for it. So you know what? PLEASE put me back on your ignore list. Because you don't have a sense of humor, and you're just as judgemental as you claim me to be.

Was this REALLY necessary?

ENOUGH! Please, create another thread and argue about who is the bigger person. I agree w/Q...I don't want the Random thread closed or even trashed with this stuff.

Does she have a sense of "self"? Meaning, does she use "mine, me, or my" when referring to herself? She's probably going through a phase where her favorite characters use 3rd person and she hears everyone else call her by her name, so she thinks that's what she should call herself, too.

You could play some turn-taking games with 3 or more people where you ask, "Whose turn is it" and whichever person has the turn says "MY TURN!" dramatically. Then they describe what they are going to do by starting with "I (want, need, have, etc.)".

Sample:

Mommy: Who's turn is it?
Daddy: MY TURN!
Daddy: I want the green one!
Mommy: OK!
Mommy: Who's next? Whose turn is it? (While blatantly staring at child)
Child target response: Me! or My turn!
Mommy: Ok! Here you go! What do you want?
Child target response: I want.......

Hopefully you get the picture. You can do it with pretty much any toy as long as you have 3 or more people. You need a "speaker" and a "model turn-taker" and the child. You can do it with ball, coloring, blocks, farm, looking at pictures in books, whatever.

Thanks for the suggestions. 🙂 She definitely understands the concept of "MINE!!!" - especially if her baby sister wants something that she has.

I'll try the game with her tonight.

I think this is the best one yet. I ought to put some hair on her though so that people know she's a girl....that might be tough to do with the chem drawing software....

No problem. I swear, some of the kids I see are so normal, but what they need is someone to sort of "unlock" their language system by finding the right "games" or approaches.

One kid I saw said a handful of new words during an assessment. The mom was shocked, but really the kid just needed a different way to access his words. I spent a couple sessions showing mom a few tricks and that's all they needed!

Can you save it and use Paint or another program to draw hair?

I liked the "don't rock the boat" one.

Nikki loves twizzlers

twizzlers love Nikki

Target used to sell licorice twists of all flavors: cinnamon, grape, sour apply, cherry, strawberry, blueberry, coconut, banana, and more but I can't think of them right now.

So yummy. Haven't really looked for them lately, but if you like Twizzlers, you should check it out!

Oh man! I 😍 Target!

I wish one were closer. I have to go 1 hour to the nearest super Target, but it's worth it.

i live in the middle of nowhere but i live like 30 minutes from everything--they are opening 2 more targets so i will have FOUR targets all within 40 minutes of me

Nikki2002 said:
actually within an hour of me there will be seven--I will be in Target heaven!

*drooling* I think I need to take a trip to Target!
They have these really good candies called Choxies too, and great soda called Jones. I highly recommend the green apple. 😍 It doesn't even taste like it's diet.

Diet stuff gives me headaches. 🙁 Actually, nearly everything gives me headaches (strong perfumes, sugarless gum, diet soda, screaming children ....)

Sounds yummy, though!!

It's all your fault. :meanie: Actually, I'm watching a thread in the re-app forum right now that seems to be degenerating into an AA mudslinging contest. 👎
