morning kids, today starts the day that I have to start a schedule. I just signed up for a night class over the next two months for medical terminology which means that I will have alot of studying to do. I didn't feel like taking child and adolescent development right now. Although I will as I'm interested in pediatrics 😉 I'm trying to get a job in a hospital right now so I can make some money as we are broke. And I have to find a way to fund our honeymoon which I wanted to take next May after my hubby graduates from med school and has a few weeks off 😀 I can't decide between Europe, the Carribean or Mexico. I really want to just lay on a beach somewhere as I always imagined it but I really would like to go to Ireland, England, Scotland (and get my parents to go as well as my mom has always wanted to go as well - neither one of us has ever left N. America). Ohhhh! There's my next "I have never" 😀

This time last year I was on this exact trip- 2 weeks in England, Scotland, and Ireland. SO WORTH IT. So worth it. Dr. Mom's avatar brings back good memories.... OK now I'm sad and want to be back there. Thanks, Mush. 🙁 😛

never had a cavity - I think I may have one now but it hasn't been diagnosed so 😛

Okay - so if any of you think this is TMI - you asked for it. I know I will at least get al lthe married people:

I've never done the hunky chunky, horizontal mambo, bumped uglies (translation: I've never played my v-card)

TAKE IT- Married people!

(Yes, I'm a Christian and my boyfriend and I plan on waiting. I always used this with my youthgroups to prove to them that it is possible to reach 20 and remain a virgin. No judging people who have, just trying to discourage 16 year olds that think the only way their boyfriend will love them is if they sleep with them. One of the saddest parts of the job really.)

And no one needs to answer this one if they don't feel comfortable.

21 pts for me!!

She's so funny - when we didn't have any "kid" toothpaste (at my folks' house) she refused to use any and just used water.

Haha, I wonder if my daughter and your niece have the same Elmo toothbrush. 😉

And Nikki - I'm majorly impressed that you knew that bear on her toothpaste is Little Bear! I checked it out more closely when I brushed her teeth last night and you were right!

I think I'm going to buy this skirt today -

I think it's pretty and it looks really comfortable. I've never owned a white skirt before but I see other people wearing them and they look nice. 😉 I think bleach might need to become my friend, though.

Get this. I need to rant. Everybody in med school was buying a COBRA policy to extend their health insurance until residency coverage picks up since the med school drops us when we graduate and residency doesn't pick us up until we start. I did a whole bunch of research into this, and had a gigantic problem in that pre-existing conditions are not covered, and I'm NOT ELIGIBLE anyway because I have a pacemaker (apparently there are 6 categories of insurance, and I am flat out uninsurable, which is ridiculous). I thought this was a HIPAA violation??!! Anyway.

So I did all this talking to UIowa to see if I could extend my health insurance through them since I couldn't get any private coverage. The people I talked to told me that I was classified as an employee since I was a graduate student - therefore different than the med students - and my coverage would last until September 1. So I had absolutely no worries since my residency would pick up coverage by then. I confirmed this with two different people. I just got a letter in the mail that, oops, they were mistaken and my coverage was terminated the day after I graduated.

What the heck??!! So now I am totally uninsured. My mom is totally nagging me to get a dr here and to get my pacemaker checked which I haven't done for a long time. I can't tell her I don't have insurance because she would FREAK. So she's just going to keep yelling at me all the time. (This is pretty much the only thing we ever fight about). Also, this means I have to pay for my meds out of pocket this month which is a cool $2000. OK end rant. 😡 👎

I'm sorry, beary. I know I had coverage from Assurant Health for about $30/mo when I decided to quit my job and become self-employed. Now that I'm married and my husband has great insurance I don't have to worry.

Maybe you could look into that - short-tem health insurance: www.assuranthealth.com

i don't know if your pacemaker would be a huge issue or not. I had cancer 10 years ago and they covered me.

Thanks for the tip megboo. I have settled down a little bit now. 😉

I'm 22 and I'm a virgin too--just never wanted to have the extra worry. Let me tell ya--it can be a serious turn on for some guys (playa plz!) But lately--well let's just say that I definitely can't hold out much longer :meanie:

As for bikini waxes--I've had a few. And they hurt like a b*tch--I must be crazy to do that.

Been the driver in an accident? lol--yeah I drove my car into a huge ditch when I hit some black ice (I seriously thought I was going to die--I was going about 65 and the car spun around twice.) I also hit my mom's car when I first started driving--we were in the parking lot of a gas station--she will never let me live that down.

I've never been surfing either--I don't know why? I would definitely love to try. Preferably with a hot surf instructor who has an australian accent--thank you.

think i have 15 points now

BEARY!! $2000 FREAKIN' DOLLARS!!! I'm sorry about that--I hope you can get this all straightened out. Maybe it would be good if you could get some short-term insurance until you start residency.......I worry about my beary!

oxeye--that skirt is cute--those are really hot around here lately (insert amish joke here again)

I have not gone surfing (body surfing yes - and I'm not going to call what I attempted off the N. Coast as surfing - that would be an insult to surfers).

But I have been in several car accidents - one when I was 13 - we were in this old @$$ '77 Cadilac and it saved our lives - God was looking out for me that day. My sister and I both wore glasses, when I came to I was like "Oh crap I can't see, my glasses much have shattered" - nope, they flew off, folded up nicely and landed on the dashboard. I'm not kidding. Then there were 2 ambulances, an off duty nurse and a doctor driving by at that exact moment.

You're hilarious Nikki. This made me laugh out loud.

I feel the same way a lot - I am glad I am not dating anybody so have no temptation! :meanie: (Wait till you're 28. 🙄 )

I got one pedicure. My feet are kind of nasty I guess (just like anybody's - not particularly nasty) and the lady was making fun of them. 😕

Just don't shave right before you go (like within 24 hours I think). That gives you little nicks in your skin where the nasty bacteria come in.

Ladies - I am making a lovely roast for pentacost. Who would like to come join me!?! 😀

Me!!!! 😀

I have never made a roast.

I am so excited about the NASCAR race today! More excited than usual. I have a dilemma. I hate Tony Stewart, but he broke his shoulder so is just going to drive until the first caution and then Ricky Rudd is taking over for him. I love Ricky and he came out of retirement to sub for Tony. But Tony still gets all the points. Do I root for Ricky/Tony??

haha, you guys are funny. i'm going to try to catch up on all the things i have/haven't done and add up my points. but first i am going to work on my essays and try to get out a rough draft of each today. i will be back in the eve.

Hell no. Any man who would sit in the same buttprint as Tony Stewart is a terrible human being.

Pedicures can be totally relaxing, but I agree - no shaving the day before (unless you're coming off the winter LOL) and I only go to one place that I KNOW is clean and sanitized after every client and on a schedule. I've had a dozen or so and no problems.

I LOVE making a roast - although since I acquired a crockpot I usually use that. Beef roast w/celery, carrots, potatos, onions - YUM. Pork roast w/apples & onions - double YUM!

Honestly, I've had about 4 or 5 major accidents. One I didn't see a car and turned in front of it (I was 16). Another one I got t-boned by a 16-year old when I was 23 (that one hurt a lot). Another one I was stopped at a stop sign waiting for traffic to clear to make a left turn and someone slid in the rain and plowed right into me. I fell alseep at the wheel once and bounced through a creek and 20 feet from a propane tank ( 😱 ). I've hit a deer and had some other bumps and nicks.

My-fault accidents stopped when I turned 20, but since then people seem to be gunning for me. It's a running joke with my husband about who's out to get me today because it seems every day I have a close call with someone crossing a center line in front of me or running stopsigns/lights in front of me, etc.

Hallelujah, my phone and internet are fixed!!

They had given me the same phone # as some other guy's cell phone. Now I have to give everybody I know my new #.

Do you like parsnips? I love them and tried adding them to my beef roast this time. Very good - make a nice combo with carrots too.

Okay - venting time....

I got a pissy response for saying that the MCAT "is just a test".

I think being married and having kids and other life experiences has really helped me remain calm in this MCAT process. Yes, I'm very anxious for my MCAT score, but I know it's not going to determine the rest of my life the way some other posters make it seem.

Okay - vent over. You will now be returned to your regularly scheduled program.

It wasn't actually fixed and the guy had to come back out. I was positively enraged. Now it appears to be working (obviously). I will not feel reassured until I have had several hours of internet though since it was sporadically working before.

Yeah - how rude of you to actually ask an MCAT-related question on SDN of all places! 🙄

That guy (or gal) needs to tune in to the rest of the world.

Meg and Ana - you two are awesome. 👍 Thanks for coming to my defense.

I really wanted to post to that person to get a little more perspective. And Ana - you hit the nail on the head with the implication that those of us who think it is just a test must not be as dedicated to medicine. That post *really* rubbed me the wrong way and I couldn't put my finger on why until you pointed that out. 😉

You know - medicine is going to be an extremely important part of my life, but it's not going to be everything in my life. I'm still always going to be a wife and mother first. I really think that helps me get perspective, because otherwise I might have turned into a "premed machine".

And meg - I've never left Walmart in a good mood, either! LOL neither has my 2.5 year old. I think it's just too much stimulus for her, because she always has a meltdown there. I won't even take her anymore.

Okay, time to go to Ann Taylor Loft for a little retail therapy. 😉 I was planning to buying that skirt anyway, but now I'm stressed (I hate internet debates) so I need to do some shopping to relieve that. 👍

I just need to avoid Baby Gap next door to Ann Taylor - I could *really* go broke!!!!!!!!!

Hey don't be stressed - in the big scheme of SDN debates (wow, what an oxymoron), that's not a bad one. Just someone who didn't think before they hit "post".

Hey, talking **** in another thread is not cool...
But you know best.

Wow - if you think that was talking **** I feel bad for you. I actually considered that sticking up for you.

Regardless.
When you have a difference of opinion with someone, you resolve it with them. Don't move to another thread and talk about them behind their back, if you will.

This is my last post on the topic. As I said in the Countdown thread, there are no bad feelings between us. Let's leave it at that.
