Welcome to Part 6! Everyone did a bang up job by hitting 10k in less than 12 days--11 days 19 hours and 18 minutes to be exact. A new record! 😀

For those not familiar with what we do here, Molly has been kind enough to put together a nice description.

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

We've been through highs and lows in Part 5. From the final matches of Andre Agassi's career to the loss of the World's friend, Mr. Steve Irwin. May he rest in piece.

With all that said, let the green flag wave! Boogity Boogity Boogity!!!

Megboo, sorry to hear about your friend. 🙁 But she'll be in good hands in St. Louis. :luck:

Yeah, if they do end up having to do radiation/chemo, then she'll be doing it at the same place I got mine.

I actually feel really honored that she told me before any other friends.

But I'm still bummed. It's supposed to rain for the next 3 days. Maybe she'll get the good news when the sun comes out again!

An interesting side note - when my friend was telling me about her urologist - she said, "Do you know Dr. Stokes in Marion?"

I said, "Yeah! He sent me a nice flatware set for my wedding!"

Apparently he also does a weekly clinic at the hospital in my hometown and knows my parents really well, and hence was invited to my wedding last year!

At least we found humor!

oh wow jlw there's a whole movie about drunk penguins...it's called happy feet

no comment

is it on tv right now?

this drunk penguin is polishing off a bottle of a delicious white merlot while enjoying a lovely dish of fresh asparagus, mushrooms, and crabmeat in a cream sauce, served over angel hair pasta.

some people need to watch out, or I'm going to start looking for How to Cook a Pigeon recipes :meanie:

(and for the record, the bottle of wine only had one glass left in it, and has been in the fridge since July or early August. "Hi, my name is J, and I soooooo do not have a drinking problem!")

hmm if anyone ever tells you that the mafia doesn't exist, don't believe them. my grandparents always got the hook up everytime they went to new york and vegas. free limos, hotels, broadway tickets, whatever.

I totally believe mafias exist: Russian, Italian, Chinese, whatever! I think they're less of a problem with the government now than they used to be, but I definitely think they have their "niche" still.

John Gotti, anyone?

i think you will really be able to help keep her spirits up--I hope they won't have to end up doing chemo and radiation. that is funny how her urologist was at your wedding--it's a small world🙂

You should feel honored - that means a lot that she told you first!

I have been thinking about you and your friend all day. Sorry the weather sucks - that makes everything seem worse. 🙁

I know all about the mob because I watch the Sopranos. 😀

beary- back home safely? Mama Dub was asking about you, too!

Yep, just got back, thanks! Unloaded the car too, phew! 👍

So sweet your mom was asking about me! Tell her I said hi!

PS Nikki, your city smells like a stinkbomb went off in it. Seriously. I had to close the vents on my car.

Thanks for the well-wishes, beary. I'm trying to keep busy by eating chocolate, napping, studying for Ochem, and watching "Flavor of Love 2". What a combination!

I'll know more this week, but the worst part is happening now - that limbo area where you KNOW somethings wrong (cancer) but you you don't know if it's metastasized, if a simple operation will take care of it, etc.

I sooo remember that feeling so I really empathize with her.

which reminds me, I need to send her an e-mail.

jlw - tell your mama howdy! I hope she's not getting the crap weather that we seem to have. BTW is it like 50 degrees outside in STL? I haven't looked at the weather lately!

dammit, no. 😡 It cooled off with the rain earlier, but then the stupid humidity kicked back in, so it feels bleeeeeeeeechhh again (technical term, people. technical term)

One thing I DO NOT like with that store, though, is they nixed half their scents and went all weird with aromatherapy and high-priced face and body creams, serums, elixirs, etc.
it's a very different store now. I escaped before having to be tortured with working my 5th Christmas season 😱

(and I still have a stockpile of products)

I'm able to keep myself out of there most of the time, mostly due to having been told what the markup was on some of the products way back when I started there (we're talking 1995). There were many times where I struggled to justify paying for it at the 30% off employee discount, much less full price.

the exceptions:
the lip balm with the SPF 15 in it (and now the new American Girl lip gloss, b/c I'm a big ole dork 😳 )

over the summer they had a bitchin sale where they were selling shower gels for $3/bottle, full-size. that was totally worth it. I bought 6, I think.

original post:
I have a question...we all know that almost all med schools require 6 credits of english..I have 3 right now..to resolve this can i just take 3 this semester and put it down as Fall 2006..or could i even put it down as Spring 2007 if i wanted to take it next semester, or is that not even an option

Yes that's an option. YOu just need it by matriculation.

Do u guys agree that i do not have to take it this semester and can just put down spring 07 on my applications..or do i have to take it now??

Abadri, most schools just want it prior to matriculation. Some want it done by the end of the fall semester, but these are few and far between. Take it whenever is most convenient and don't sweat it. Of all the pre-reqs, English is the least important in adcom eyes.

Now back to our regularly scheduled random programming.

AMCAS only lets you put it as "Future Coursework," not specific dates. Take it whenever is most convenient and don't sweat it. Of all the pre-reqs, English is the least important in adcom eyes.

Ok great..thank you.i was sweatin it for a while but its good to hear that burden is off my shoulders...next semester it is...
