Welcome to Part 6! Everyone did a bang up job by hitting 10k in less than 12 days--11 days 19 hours and 18 minutes to be exact. A new record! 😀

For those not familiar with what we do here, Molly has been kind enough to put together a nice description.

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

We've been through highs and lows in Part 5. From the final matches of Andre Agassi's career to the loss of the World's friend, Mr. Steve Irwin. May he rest in piece.

With all that said, let the green flag wave! Boogity Boogity Boogity!!!

I didn't get it at first either, but their food is just so good to me for some reason. Everything tastes so high quality because everything is fresh. I really liked the "moster" style which I don't think is on the menu either. It's basically adding caramelized onions and thousand island. Mmmmmm😍
I had it out in Cali. The fries are a strange spongy texture. The burger was good but nothing like "OMG I'm addicted"

The fires were ok, but that was probably because they are cut fresh everyday and aren't the chemical freakshow fries like most fast food places (which makes them taste good)

Part of the obsession is the fact that its a cultural thing. They are only located in that area of the country so it's some kind of unique thing, but I thought the burgers were awesome on top of it

I'm with Brett - I don't get the In N Out craze either and we have one here. The fries are nothing special (definitely taste "different") and the burger tastes like a burger.

Give me Burger King over In N Out anyday!

I saw this thread in the pre-allo forum. Click on the link in that thread to see the picture. I don't even want to post the actual picture here. WARNING!!! The picture in that link is rather grotesque. 😱 :scared: I had to look at it several times to see that the heck I was looking at.

I have such mixed feelings about that article....on one hand I understand why they would call it a homicide, but on the other hand, so many ER's are overflowing with patients and very under-staffed.

oops nevermind.....i should have read the whole article
very true. i havent done my adult ER rotation yet but i remember from cardio that any patient that presents to the ER with chest pain and with the symptoms that make you suspicious of an MI should get an EKG within 10 minutes. in real life i'm sure this doesnt happen for the reasons you said. who knows what happened that day in this ER, it might have just not looked that bad to the triage nurse. i've had people walk up to me outside the hospital when i'm in clinical dress and ask me where the ER was because they had chest pain. totally calm, not sweating, not freaking out... "hey, where is the ER, i have some bad chest pain and i think its my heart." sucks that this happened. one of the things they stressed to us was that women can have funky heart attack symptoms that dont match the classic ones, ie a woman with an MI may present with just headache and nausea instead of the pain radiating down your left arm symptom for example. "get an ekg on those little old ladies with the headache and nausea, you never know if thats the one with the MI." i guess this was one of those.

there are so many people that go to the ER (even for non emergency issues) so that they don't have to wait for the regular admission and of course they have to be seen regardless, but it makes the wait endless for those who have an actual emergency. my cousin (an RN) used to work in the ER in a trauma center and she said so many people came in with the craziest "emergency" i.e. pus filled toes and runny nose --- wtf? 🙄 😎

sounds like pedi ER where the emergency is the kid has a sore throat and the mom couldnt take him to the regular doctor because she was working. soooo common its crazy.

I don't think I'd ever want to go for care at a very busy hospital. Last time I went to the ER, there were maybe 5 other people waiting and the room could fit A LOT more people. I got to go first because I guess I needed to be cared for the fastest. 🙂

like in some orlando suburb? it was a private hospital right?

🙄 please don't get me started. I'll be in the ER tonight. I'll check the board and see how many "emergencies" there are.

Part of the Florida Hospital chain, Sand Lake.
the last time I went to the ER (for myself), I went to a community hospital to avoid the wait. I had a room within 10 minutes.

on the other hand, the service was absolutely crap, as I was informed that I shouldn't be crying, b/c the guy in the room next to me was having a possible MI, and all I had was a fractured fifth metatarsal. (so sue me- I held out on crying until after a 5 hr drive back here so that insurance would pay, and I was a little frustrated and in a lot of pain)

Florida Hospital is really the only one I know of in Orlando. HCA is further south in Kissimmee. The only other hospital I know of is Health Central and I think there's only 1 here.

Not trying to offend anyone, but I don't think I'm a big fan of the HCA hospital (at least here). Their company performance isn't all that great, but my friend's dad is the CEO of one of them in central FL (I didn't even know they have "CEOs" for each hospital) and I think they're all overpaid by A LOT.

ok, yeah, let me not get into this or i'll have an aneurysm. yes, these people are so overpaid its disgusting. not just the CEO but some of those really high up admin positions are huge sites of cash hemorrhage for hospitals. at my teaching hospital there is not one physician on the entire board, NOT ONE. its all made up of overpriced lawyers that....... ok, 1...2...3...4....

This is all I will tell you about HCA that my friend's dad (CEO) told me. They all had a meeting out of state somewhere. I can't remember where. The Chairman guy flew himself (he has a commercial pilot license) in his own Gulfstream GIV. A $50 million private jet. That's all I can say without getting pissed myself.

Speaking of hospitals........I would hate to work in a unionized hospital when I become a doc (p.s. I used to work in one so I'm speaking from experience) because so many union workers who should have been let go years ago continue to go under the radar or be ignored by administration.

deep breaths, sunshine. in through the nose, out through the mouth

I forgot to ask- do you want the *actual* story, or the version that my friends and I concocted to make it sound better?

 nice video

fun story: it involved a 4-poster bed and a 20 y/o Swedish acrobat named Sven 😳 😀 :hardy:

true story: I'm a clutz. I was leaving my mom's to come back here, and the doormat (one of those 1" thick ones) had shifted over to one side. So when I walked out the door with my bags packed, my left foot stepped on the edge of the doormat. I had on open-backed Steve Madden shoes, so the shoe stayed put, foot went left, *crack!* and I'm face down on the front porch with a wave of blackness and nausea coming over me. fun stuff.

oh, and then b/c I was poor and had crappy insurance, I took some Tylenol and drove the 350 miles back here to go to the hospital. Every time I stopped to get gas, I'd limp in and fill up a plastic bag with ice from the soda fountain. 10 min on/10 min off the entire way back. 👍
