Awesome jokes everyone

Is it just me, or does it take a really *long* time to get into SDN? Posting is fine, but the message boards take forever to load up

Penguinone
This gets its name from the similarity of its 2D structure to a penguin. The effect is slightly lost in the 3D model, though. It's real name is: 3,4,4,5-tetramethylcyclohexa-2,5-dienone.

WTG Will!

I was rooting for them over Ohio. Sorry Pingouin, but this OSU team were jerks.

For all you who are having a bad week with low grades, illness, or whatever, I want you to keep in mind it could be worse.

We got our tax bill today.

We owe $15K.

I win the pity party of the week. 👎

oh man, that is awful!! *hugs and many many dollar bills thrown your way*

I have such a headache today. Tax season + evil organic II exam = migraine.

My husband and I are both off on Friday, so we are going to the bank for a loan for the taxes.

*sigh* I feel a little better about it - I was literally crying while typing it here earlier.

It could be worse. It could always be worse.

Question for all of you who have taken it (which includes everyone but me)... In comparison to a lecture class on the same subject, how difficult (and time consuming) is a lab? My advisor wants me to take this the Fall:

Orgo I
Orgo Lab
Gen Chem II Lab (I didn't have time for it)
Physics I
Cell Bio

Any comments? I took too much this semester (time wise) and I don't want to make the same mistake.

:wow: holy crap. you definitely do win. I'll quit whining about my taxes.

so sorry. 🙁 🙁 🙁

Looks like a challenging but definintely doable schedule. IMHO a lab is mostly just busy work - you always have to show up, and then usually do a writeup afterwards. Don't think it is "difficult" per se.

The level of time consumption and what not is dependent on the school and how the school does labs. For instance, our physics labs didn't have much to it but other schools had much more involved labs where there was a lot of work. Same with any class. I'd ask students at your school and see what they think.

I agree with that. My o chem lab was very time consuming in terms of how many hours you had to be there for a stupid 2 credit course, but there wasn't a ton of work that needed to be done outside of class - maybe an hour or two a week at the very most.

Labs are going to just be Pre-labs, showing up and lab write-ups. We'll chalk the two of them up to be about 1 3 hour class.

So you're taking 4 science classes. I did Orgo I, Physics 3, Cell Bio, and Calc II with Orgo Lab. It was a pretty busy semester but things worked out. You know your own work ethic and how much you can handle. Don't sacrifice good grades for the sake of finishing classes.

That is a very full schedule. I'm assuming the physics class has a lab as well? So not only do you have 3 challenging lectures but also 3 labs to keep track of...no small feat. It really depends on the profs and TAs you are going to have....I know at my undergrad there were different levels of everything...and some classes were a million times easier with certain profs.

What did you take this semester?

yeah like brett said--just be honest with yourself. Once you mess up your GPA it's nearly impossible to fix it and nearly impossible to get into med school. do what you have to do to keep your science GPA up. It's worth searching around to find the right profs and right TAs.

morning! i got up really early to beat pbj to the first post 😀
haha, good job funk! 🙂

i was up earlier than that...i just didn't post anything 😛

beary, it's freaking freezing here too. what the heck is going on? where's spring??
