I didn't know Stanford was the most competitive - I thought WashU was one of the toughest. Thanks for the encouragement! But really...this IS Stanford, the most competitive medical school to get in (aside from Mayo).
That's also what happened to Andrew Fire when he applied for undergrad....and look at what happened to him 😉
I already looked. Couldn't find one. 🙁Since you brought it up, oxeye. YOU get to find me an irish pic of VD![]()

Really?? Most competitive?? Even more so then HMS???
Oh weird - Andrew Fire and I grew up in the same town, and went to rival high schools. Same undergrad too. 😀
LMAO - hey if they reject you (which I DOUBT!) I bet you'd be calling them Stanfurd with me. 😛
And for the record, I wanted to go to Stanfurd over Berkeley, but they rejected my butt!
Yeah, Stanford only accepts like 3% of its applicants, Harvard 5%. (Mayo 2.2%)
Stanfurd rejected my butt from their MSTP.
Yup - family still lives there too. 🙂You grew up in Sunnyvale?

This literally made me LOL - http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Stanfurd
But if Stanfurd residency directors are reading this, I love your school. 😀![]()

Do breast surgeons eat breast sticks?I just got the nicest email from a breast surgeon about a case I rushed. Is really nice of them to take the time (and to brighten my day putting up with VA garbage). A reminder of what medicine is all about. 🙂
"Wanted to drop a quick note to let you know how much it meant to this patient that you were able to get her path back Fri night. She was crying on the phone she was so relieved and happy. As I mentioned to you, my patients and I have noticed how much faster path turnaround has been. When you called to let me know we would need to do more sections on her path, my office called to update her and to let her know we probably wouldn't get results back until next week. I really thought it would take that long for you to be able to x-ray the blocks and look at more sections. So, it was such a surprise to her and such a relief. As you and I have discussed--at the other end of those slides is always a very anxious patient. In this case is was a young single mother just finishing therapy for a locally advanced right breast cancer when this area popped up in the left breast--obviously devastating to her emotionally. She has been completely stoic through all of her treatment and this latest biopsy. When she broke down last night it was the first time that I had seen her do that. So, thanks again for working so hard to get this back quickly, it meant more to her than probably you and I will ever understand."

Seriously, beary, that's an awesome email to get. You're the bestest path resident ever. 😍
😱 That sounds like me and ochem and immuno!
My 19 month old is really starting to pick up words quickly now - it's so fun! Her latest is "blanket" which she pronounces "Bee-ah".
