Morning Everyone!

Just a heads up for those of us in New England, looks like we're fixin to get about 5 inches of snow pretty quick today, followed by some freezing rain. So be careful out there.

Right, off to study.
Peace.

I can't decide whether this would dissuade me or persuade me to visit Ghana....

You can just take dox right now and get the dreams too. However the dreams started to aggravate me after a while.

yup, same here. :/

I'm at 15 as well, but am fixin to fall hard depending on what goes down in today's action. Picked a ton of second day upsets.

Peace.
if you're from New England, are you allowed to say "fixin to"? 😕

isn't there a bylaw somewhere that says you can't use that north of the Mason-Dixon? Bowtie- I call upon you to clarify this for me. 😀

😀 I have some southern expressions in my daily language but not this one. I must add it. Have a good day y'all.

yes, you have that Great Plains dual influence of the Dakotas/Minnesota (think "Fargo") and some of the more borderline southern states like Oklahoma and Missouri.

CT is ALL Yankee (and a little bit Red Sox, but I digress... :meanie: )

Yup...Although I laugh everytime I hear fixin'. You don't hear it much at all in my area but on a trip to arkansas to visit some friends, I wanted to correct them each and every time!

I have UK going all the way. 😀

*runs and ducks from the wrath of the Bowtie*
I have UK losing in the first round!

I'm from Ohio, just living in CT the past coupla years. Actually, technically I'm fro m Iowa, but I only lived there for 5 years....majority of my time in Ohio. Don't really know why I say fixin...hmm. I def. don't say "reckon". Seems like the two go together. I guess I just never noticed I say it.

I guess I also say other things different too. I say "Roof" like a dog instead of "Ruuf" I suppose.

When I first got to CT, I would call everyone "maam" and "sir"......wow, so many people got mad at me, especially middle age women.

Middle age woman to Bigserve99 at bank:
"I'm not a maam. Do I look like a maam to you!?"

*Bigserve has no idea what just happened. Stares blankly and asks for his receipt so he can leave.

are you from southern Ohio? It can get pretty southern down there... as you travel down through the state you can notice the accents change dramatically within a 100 miles or so around Columbus

Yah, from around the Dayton area. Plus the town I lived in was a very conservative southern type of town. I used to deliver pizza's in that town, and there def. a few I've delivered to with some Conf. flags flying high (def. intimidated me at first, but whatever).

What are you taking dox for? I had to take it to prevent malaria. I remember getting vivid dreams (common side effect).
Is that really a side effect? 😱

I'd noticed that but thought it was unrelated. Actually the dreams have been entertaining so I'm not worried. Just taking it for a run of the mill infection. Dude - how does Dox work on Malaria? I thought it was just for bacteria. 😕

blah blah blah southern ohio blah blah blah

born in Dayton, grew up in Cincinnati, no southern accent whatsoever, despite my father's best attempts to infuse his Kentuckian ways into me. I be a Northerner. y'all. :meanie:

for those of you that didnt know, i was FREAKED out that i would have to retake the exam since i ran out of time and with 10 minutes left had 18 questions left to go through. so yeah..... either many of the last 10 questions were "C" or i straight up lucked out.

Wow, yikes! I call everyone I don't know "ma'am" and "sir." I have never had anybody say anything about it - I feel like I'm being polite!

Whoa - that's news to this southerner...

That's how this girl used to say it, just so you don't get the wrong impression its pronounced: funna go if that makes sense.

This girl, my freshmen year, used to talk like that and she's the one that told me that.

She came from central Florida which was one of those truly southern kinda areas.

 Well the Texas accent is pretty distinct from the rest of the South... plus I don't really have one. But my friends say "fixin" usually. That's right before we jump on our horses and mosey right on outta dodge. :meanie:

Hahahaha you Texans got a special brand of southernism. its called a mix of Mexico to the south and a mix of typical US brand of southernism to create the Southwestern atmosphere.

The funny thing with Fl. is that you are in the true south the more north and central you go in Fl.

But the more south you go in Florida the less southern it becomes. I don't know if that's considered an Oxymoron or a paradox.

Well the part of Texas I live in is basically culturally Mexico. Seriously - I have a hard time with just about everything because I don't speak Spanish. You have no idea how many times a day I wish I did 😉

Now the city I was born in... well let's just say the nickname is "Cowtown" 😉

**** the 5 second rule

The refs handed the game to UNLV. I hope Kruger loses the rest of his games. That jackass didn't do **** for us when he was the coach at UF. I hope UNLV crashes into the ground the next game.

A bit of background...we have a Leonberger named Callie. She is a big dog. They typically are. Anyway, we love looking up all things Leo online because they are such great dogs. We found this this morning and it was hilarious. The Leo is obviously the big one.
