Well I just checked my online Michigan status and I'm "Mid-tier" Waitlisted which means I'll probably just withdraw considering...

I JUST GOT INTO BAYLOR!!!

:hardy: 😀 :wow:
(some mixture of those emotions)

I so thought I was done for. Seriously - I blew that interview. It was so bad... :barf:

I'm so conflicted! I'm so happy that I got in but part of me was so psyched up for Houston...

I dunno!!

I love Houston - it's got a great atmosphere... better student body than Baylor. Plus a big scholarship.

But HOLY **** IT'S BAYLOR!! I'd have to do be some kind of nuts to turn that down!! I could get into a really great IM residency from there. But I'm freaking out wondering if I'm really smart enough to hack it at Baylor, you know?

OOOOH!!! I so want to see that! I am jealous!!!

I don't want to see it at all. I'm in pathology and obviously work with dead bodies all the time but it makes me feel weird that dead bodies are being displayed as works of art.

listen anastasis, medical school is medical school. ie, if you can cut it at Houston you will cut it at Baylor. no doubt in my mind, dont be scared by it. if you want to go to baylor, GO. 😎

Totally agree with this. On the flip side, don't let residency considerations affect your decision - I think where you go to medical school has extremely minimal to no effect on your residency placement.

Thanks, hon. I think this is going to end up being a really hard decision.

Yeah - I guess I just meant that it's a really great school that's going to push me to succeed but maybe that's just my perception. I guess it comes down to being an average fish in an average pond or a small fish in a huge pond.

Yeah but isn't Baylor cheap normally? How does it compare to UTH with scholarship?

Well the cost of living is obviously the same because it's the same town.

Here's how tuition and fees break down:
Baylor: $6,550 tuition + $5,198 in fees = $11748
Houston: $13,199 - $10,000 in scholarship = $3,199

So overall it'll cost me about $35k more to go to Baylor... whoa. I'd never done the math on that. That's not a huge difference.

And I guess jury is still out on finaid from Baylor. Maybe it'll be less than that in the end.

either way those are amazing numbers. seriously, you dont want to see my tuition bills at miami. im ALREADY over 100k in debt and i still have a year left. and thats with a $5k/yr scholarship, my tuition is still about $24k/yr + fees + living expenses. it was either going to be Miami or Tufts for me, and Tufts was waaaaaaay more expensive. so for me, miami was the best financial option. to tell you the truth though i think i would have come here even if it was $40k/yr, i was so in love with this school. plus its my home town.

Yeah I say Baylor all the way!!!!!

If you're still trying to make me feel guilty about not applying to Miami you're not doing a great job :meanie:

I wish my dad would get home so we could go eat dinner!! He's taking me out to celebrate! 🙂

I'm thinking more along the lines of Fajitas and Corona 😉

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........ that works too. 😀

so happy for you anastasis!!!!!!!!
Thanks, sweetie 😍 I think I'm going to go ahead and make plans to drive to Houston next week and sort some stuff out/talk to some people. (Nice thing about not being in class right now).

Maybe Baylor will scholarship match (or at least attempt to)...

 great plan dudette!!

whatever you end up deciding, be glad that you are in the position to make that decision. I'm sure you can rock it out at Baylor or UTH...and seeing that the price difference really isn't huge...go with what your instincts say!! 🙂

btw, i wrote last week that i got accepted to Robert Wood Johnson medical school but i was waiting for the MD/Phd letter. well, the results are in. i got a letter from UMDNJ/Rutgers/Robert Wood Johnson/Princeton MD/PhD program...HIGH waitlist. JEEZ ARE THESE PEOPLE TRYING TO KILL ME WITH THE WAITLISTS?? This is number 3 for crying out loud. Better than a rejection, so it's not all bad, but still...:/

ugh, i hated waiting lists. so s&m, regardless of what happens with the MD/PhD waitlist you have a spot in the incoming class for the MD right?

Ugh - what the hell? Well "High Waitlist" is a good sign, right? 🙂

that is correct...still have an MD spot no matter what. so it's not really bad news at all...just not super super great news. and i'm assuming that "high" waitlist is better than "mid" or "low" waitlist...if those even exist there. who knows. we'll see i guess.

congrats Ana! you've been talking about Baylor since God knows when. Just go 😉 35k is chump change in the grand scheme of things... is Baylor public funded or something? That tuition is cheap!

thats wonderful! high waitlist sounds very good, i think you have an awesome shot s&m.

and S&M- congrats to you, too!!! you'll move from waitlists to acceptances in no time flat. 😀

my good news of the day is that I'm almost completely certain of what my unknowns are in organic lab, which means I should be able to finish them up next week. w00t!!! :hardy:

fajitas and corona....😍

UTH is but is she goin to UTH revisit?

not if she decides to attend Baylor 🙂

She's right. Because Baylor starts before July 30th I have to have my final decision made by April 15th :barf: Which is the Sunday of Houston's second look which means at that point, if i decide on Baylor, it'll be a moot point.

Thanks 🙂 Baylor is partially funded by the TX gov't which means that they need to keep it 70% TX residents and we end up getting super cheap tuition. 😀

See you in St. Louis on April 13!
