I'm hoping not to have too much downtime. I'm waiting until after the semester ends to get it done. I have to be put under for it :scared:

Yeah, the last thing I remember saying was "I haven't had my coffee today, so I'll be an easy person to put ooouttt...zzzzzzz"

hehe, both my top wisdom teeth were at 90 degree angles - one was even coming through the gums when I finally got them taken out.

Have fun - I didn't think the pain was as bad as most people made it out to be.
My bottom two are already through the gums. They are making my jaw sore and giving me headaches.

perhaps location was the difference. it was my bottom one that came in at that angle, and (bowtie, close your eyes now) they had to break it into a bunch of pieces in order to get it out. the pain was pretty unbearable for about 2 days, and I've got a fairly high tolerance.

Yeah, it was my top ones that were at the weird angle. One bottom one was already erupted, but the other one was completely impacted and also had to be broken into pieces.

Why aren't they removing all four B? I had one (the bottom one) that wasn't causing any trouble yet but they removed it while they did the rest of them because the wisdom teeth are hard to clean so more prone to decay.

The weirdest part of the whole thing were the holes in mouth where the teeth used to be. The holes took months and months to close up.

Really? It was my bottom two that were at the 90 degree angle (impacted is the correct term I believe) and poking out. The top two weren't coming through at all (and were straight), but they took all 4 out. I thought the extraction method Penguin mentioned was standard...but thankfully I was told that *after* the procedure

Well they're not sure I have a fourth. Its either non-existent or really deep in the bone and doesn't show on the X-ray.

I think breaking it is standard, but it is my understanding that it hurts more on the lower jaw. Someone who actually has an MD- more nerves down there? Proximity to the inner ear? I just remember laying on the couch sobbing from the pain, and nothing was even touching my jaw. I had mine done with local anesthesia and nitrous oxide. What a party. I only had three to start with (giving my family a lot of fodder for "we always knew you weren't quite all there" jokes), and they only removed the two on the left, so I still have my upper right. It's straight, but it occasionally causes me some problems. Not enough to pay the cash to have it removed, as I do not currently have dental coverage on my insurance. IIRC, they did it on Fri and I was back at work on Mon. Also, with the nitrous- I was very angry about the fact that they ran O2 through the line. Damn that nitrous was nice. 😳

This was my first experience with Vicodin, and I fell in 😍 hard and fast. :meanie:

Damn, I only got Tylenol 3's and I hated them...decided not to take them. Made me woozy

Now speaking of woozy, I better get some sleep soon or I'll be woozy tomorrow. Night night!!

I was studying Organic and I got so angry that I decided to watch basketball highlights. Hi all.

Bottom line, Organic is annoying the hell out of me.

All I remember of getting my wisdom teeth out is what I was told I said when waking back up. Apparently I asked for a margarita. The doctor laughed and went on to explain to avoid things very cold or very hot and I replied, "Oh it doesn't have to be a frozen margarita" :meanie:

takes one to know one :d

I'm still sitting on an unfilled script for the stuff after my wisdom tooth extraction. How much you offering?

I still have about 12 at home from my broken foot. And one more tooth which I could get pulled... or I could always break another bone.

No, seriously- my oral surgeon gave me a rx for 28 with a refill, and I never filled the refill before it expired. That was when I was young and stupid (24). I know much better now. :meanie:

Welcome to the club.

Morning! We have a severe thunderstorm about to hit in about 2 minutes. 👍

We already had ours overnight- I guess we're sending it your way! Just talked with Big Brother Penguin, who also says "Damn. We're about to get hammered" with a storm.

lmfao    you're so accomodating!

rotflol!

Can someone explain to me again why I'm taking hair advice from a straight guy? Seriously. That's just wierd.

Seriously now.
It's because you know I'm right. And I have excellent taste. 😛

who said he was straight?? 😀
Oh man, if you only knew me, you would know that this could never be a question.

Oh snap!

Hear that Evo?
Yeah, yeah. But you're going to be looking good. Trust me. 🙂

Can we have a moment of silence for my hair?

I had the girl cut off slightly less than I really wanted... figured if I hated it then it could be salvaged. It's alright. I guess. Maybe I just need to get used to significantly shorter hair (though it's still slightly past my shoulders).

niiiiiiiiice 😉

I don't have wisdom teeth. But I have had my front top two teeth root-canaled and replaced with crowns twice. Nowhere near as bad as wisdom tooth surgery from what I've heard tho. I feel for you Bowtie.

I think medfool had it right - orgo is annoying. It's not particularly hard like calculus, but just annoying to have to memorize the reactions and conditions!

silence observed.

Nice, Mushy 👍 Way to show us fledgling post-****** how to do it. 😀

Okay on a random note: Do any of your guys keep a really great personal planner? I know this might sound hard to believe but I'm more of a write it on scrap paper then lose the paper kind of girl. Shocking, I know. My best friend, who's a sucessful business type, says I should try out Franklin Covey or some system like that to get used to it before med school - so I'm not forgetting tests, labs, etc like I did in college. Any ideas/suggestions?

I'm old school too. Actually, I have no planner system. It's alll in my head 🙂

Did I mention that I often wander around with the vague feeling like I should be somewhere, but not sure where?

My life is pretty boring/scheduled, so I've gotten by with minimial organizational skills

*taps foot*
Okay so I took a bunch of pictures and they're not turning out all that well. My hair is so dark you can't see the layers in the pictures! 😱 Oh well - I'll post them on facebook later for anyone who's interested. (Canuck: no facebook right? I'll find a photo hosting site and post them then.)

i also recommend google calendar. it's awesome. if you put things in your personal calendar, you can set up reminder emails for certain times/days. and it's very easy to add things to google calendar as well. 👍
