I got this email from Dr William M Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine today... at first I thought it was a complete joke, then I saw...

Dear gradu8in2003,

Your interest in a healthcare career and your achievement on the MCAT indicate you may be a good match with the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University . Allow me to introduce you to this wonderful healthcare profession.


So.... why this advertisement NOW? Is it a possibility my new scores have been released? I didn't get any recruitment anything in April or since.. this is the first one from anywhere...
I got so excited that my scores possibly have been released I thought about emailing the lady back and asking her... hahaha. I'm not interested in podiatry, but still..... is it possibly my scores are floating around?? :scared::scared:

Definitely don't worry about the podiatry school spam. You could get a 45T and still hear from places like that.

Hey oxeye 😍

I felt EXACTLY the same way you do and I guarantee you all of your classmates do. I was talking with some colleagues the other day and we all agreed that the first year of med school was the most difficult in our careers. Third year is a tough transition, starting residency is tough, heck going from intern to senior resident is tough.

I know that that probably didn't help and I don't have any brilliant advice but you WILL GET THROUGH IT and end up doing fine academically and going on to be a great physician. Eventually you sort of get used to the information overload and just sort of reach a comfort level with it but it takes a long time.

I'm sure you probably heard me say this before but I BARELY passed anatomy (by 2 points in the entire course out of 450 points). It was extremely extremely stressful, thought I was going to get kicked out of MSTP, etc. I went on to have a fine med school career, got a good residency, and am doing a good job as a young pathologist. (And I'm in path, probably one of the more anatomy-based specialties!) Anyway, I hope that helps you some. I'm not at all saying you will fail or almost fail a class haha, but even if you do things will work out totally fine. I hope that helps.

Yeah the MCAT forum is usually a nicer part of SDN so don't know why people have decided to come on here and give false information to premeds.

Haha, I always get these e-mails from random healthcare-related programs...I never even open them - I clicked on this one because I remembered you posting about something like that.

My roommate and I get random things in the mail but I never get emails about such stuff just snail mail. I usually throw it out.

stick a fork in that puppy. I am home, safely, after driving through some nasty thunderstorms. after the car 30 yards in front of me one lane over hit a slick spot, fishtailed, did a 360, crossed over my lane and hit the guardrail with his back bumper, I decided it might be wise to pull over at the next exit and let some of it pass. :scared:

Thanks for the reassurance beary! Not that I'm happy to hear you almost failed anatomy but it is reassuring since I know you did great on the boards, and got a good residency, and you are now a fantastic ho-ho!!

My worst grades in college were my first two semesters. I shouldn't expect med school to be any different. I need to work on lowering my standards.
