oh i'm sorry.........this post makes me really sad. i don't know what your presentation is about but if there's anything i can help you with/look up right now then just let me know. If this presentation is not super important, then i would just try to put only the necessary info on the powerpoint and then you can add everything else as you are talking........i hope you can get some rest tomorrow and i hope you feel better......

thank you so much nik. 😍

luckily, my topic is nice and specific: cystic fibrosis. if it were something broad like leukemias or something i'd be screwed. but thank you again for offering to help.

our pbl presentations arent graded or anything, i just have to have something to present for 5-10 minutes and not look stupid.

Arsenic! I sure hope you feel better. It is really tough to study for the boards and deal with classwork all at the same time. Hang in there. :luck:

I got my Ph.D. in CF research!

Seriously, I can send you some of my talks and you could use the intro slides. I know a lot about the history and current progress in gene transfer for CF, so if you're going to mention that at all I can definitely help.

great--they aren't graded. Just put the bare minimum on the slides--some cool pictures--and make sure you know enough to B.S. the rest--sleep takes priority over powerpoint.....ok? good luck :luck:

ok and i just thought of one random CF fact--one copy of the mutated gene protects against typhoid (kinda like sickle cell protects against malaria). i don't know how i know that--i need sleep! good night!

wow i hope someday when I'm doing a presentation in the middle of the night a magic PhD will suddenly appear and help me.......sweet dreams

Well, just be sure to do your presentations on CF or Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (like you're come across that a lot in med school  ) and I'm there for ya. 🙂

Unfortunately I don't think I was able to help Arsenic very much because all my stuff is so ridiculously technical that I have almost no introductory clinical stuff. Now if he wants to talk about a novel adenovirus vector that has no viral genes and uses a CK-18 promoter instead of the strong viral promoters that most folks use in CFTR gene transfer, THAT I can help with. 🙄

Which did you like better, marble slab or maggie moos?? Have you ever been to Cold Stones?? If so, which of the 3 did you like best??

I haven't been to Marble Slab, but I liked Maggie Moos slightly better for Cold Stone, because Cold Stone gives you too much ice cream, where as Maggie Moos gives the right amount.

I like the selection (like fruit smoothies) at Maggie Moo's best. But, I think that Marble Slab is better overall. I don't know that I have ever been to Cold Stone.

hey guys! SDN promoted me to a super moderator! I'm now a mod all over SDN, not just mcat or clinical rotations! watch out mushy, i now have banning power! :meanie: 😛
🙁 I will never be able to beat you now. You are two steps ahead of me, but one day ... ONE DAY! And yes the race is STILL on. You're only a supermod but you still have to "discuss" bannings 😛

I think I chewed too much gum. :barf:

I am still tasting it and I have brushed my teeth twice...not to mention the fact that I haven't touched a piece in 12+ hours.

I'm outta here people...Gotta shower and head off to class.

Dear God,
Please let it be over quickly. I don't know how much more I can handle. The guy puts me to sleep. One of these days I am afraid it will be permanent.

Nice house, beary, congrats! Hope you feel better, A-man. Where is anastasis? How did her MCAT go? If she posted about this five pages ago, will someone recap for me? Did any of the rest of you take it too?

She took it and I'm sure she did awesome. (she doesn't think so from what I recall). I took it also and I think I did horribly. 🙁

Everyone thinks they did horribly, oxeye; you really can't judge based on how you felt at the end of the test day. (I would describe the feeling as something like "just having been run over by a Mack truck" myself.) I thought that I screwed up, too, especially on VR. Luckily, I was sitting down when I first saw my score.... 😛

i'm sure you did very well, oxeye! 😀 don't worry about it too much.

i'm still recuperating from my large migraine attack during VR. i'm not sure how i did...but i'm hoping it's an improvement from last time. i definitely went in feeling more confident.

and Q...the mack truck feeling is a perfect description.
