Hey deschutes, is it snowing there yet?

It is snowing here for the first time this year. 👍
It did. My desktop weather widget was very pretty 🙂 It fell to negative (Centigrade scale i.e. below freezing) at last!

So I was late getting in this morning because everyone was driving like a snail despite plowed roads.

The odd thing is that despite the progressively colder weather, my electricity bill is lower this month than previously (and it was already lower previously!)

I guess this means I can afford both a cosy personal heater for my feet and a hat or earband of some sort for my poor ears. Target here I come!

It is SO cold here today. The temp is 27 with 29 mph winds for a wind chill of 11. But it feels much much colder than that - maybe just because I am not used to it.

I agree, the drop in temp was quite sudden. We're clearly on the same cold front - it's windchill of 4 here at the moment with the same windspeeds!

I love having underground parking 😀

Yep, here too. Wasn't so bad this morning but when I left work you could feel the bite. Felt like Minnesota actually. It's about ****ing time! Last night was a pain in the ass.

You mean, last night was too hot there? 😕

I totally didn't understand what he meant either and almost wrote the same thing you did.

Darnit, I hate it when the lows are in the 40s!!! Too hot!!!

We have lows in the 30s here in dallas. That is dallas TEXAS people. We were having 80 degree weather just a few days ago. 😡

27 degrees north of San Antonio. Bbbbrrrrrrr. it's warmer in MI. I came here to get WARM, people.

I loathe blood bank
with every fibre of my being
with a rage that cannot be quenched.

How many M.D.'s does it take to toodle up to the blood bank to collect a component re-evaluation of appropriateness form? Not one, not two, but three.

I loathe Blood bank as well. The blood bank should be run by the people who always want the blood, that way they would have to ration it for themselves instead of always blaming us for being stingy.

At the U it's ****ing sicker than that. Here we yank our own chain by setting a future date for re-evals. As if the blood bank techs weren't going to call us before then if anything was really the matter anyway.

The s/p BMT kid is peeing blood... AGAIN. Do I really have to ambush the clinicians about the 50K parameter every 2 days?

You have rage. That is good.

Rage is healthy. Rage is good.

Yes, it makes one thin. And I am only half-joking.
Interesting. I'm full of rage recently (cuz I'm in dire need of a vacation which starts as of Friday night!). I'm not getting any thinner. Although, I must have lost pounds during residency cuz my pants wardrobe has tripled in size now that I can fit into my old pants (those I wore during grad school and had become tight during 3rd year med school cuz I hated clerkships, was probably depressed, and was forced to eat Wendy's everyday at the f*cking hospital!)

While we're on the subject of recent things that fill you with rage...

I really reeeally wish people wouldn't ask me questions that they don't like the answer to.

Saw the opening midnight show.

😉 In my dreams.

Saturday matinée. The plan is to wake up comfortably late, meet friend for brunch, then drive to the Mall of America, where AMC is showing 5 daylight sessions for $6.50.

Needless to say I will be extremely displeased if I end up in fourth-row-from-screen seats.

nothing sucks more than having to stay at home when all your friends are partying +pity+ ...but step3 is around the corner, and i bite the bullet.
deschutes- hope the movie is as good as the book...at least!

hey quant - congrats on the Big 10 championship! 👍

Hey thanks Beary....

Does feel sweet!

Iowa steamrolled Minn, congrats to you too....

Sorry Yaah and AndyM, Just wasn't meant to be for the wolverines i guess....

I think that was why deschutes went to a matinee to see Harry Potter, so she didn't have to see us slaughter the Gophers. 😉

That game sucked ass. Jim Hermann needs to get fired. Our defense always chokes in the last 5 minutes of any game.

oh well...looking forward to the bowl game. We'll probably end up playing Oklahoma and Nebraska which is a matchup I really want to see in the Outback Bowl. Whatever the matchup ends up being, it'll be like a cripple fight between two ******s with crutches. Except Michigan will win because neither Oklahoma or Nebraska has an offense.

Nebraska could beat Michigan though. But I really would love to see Lloyd Carr beat Bob Stoops.

Yeah that really was a miserable game. Terrible defense. They couldn't tackle anyone and the pass coverage was really strange - they played about 15 yards off of every receiver and let them complete any pass shorter than 15 yards. Now that's sound strategy! The 2000s so far are like a reverse of the 1990s in terms of UM-OSU.

Congratulations and all that, and I really mean it, except that hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream gets me more excited than college football - sorry! 😉

Actually I would have been quite disappointed with Iowa if they let the Gophers win.

The EM folks just started a thread that our "lead" is shrinking and they are trying to pass us.

If it matters to them, so be it. Personally I don't care where there are more posts.

Yeah. Who cares. Let them have their glory.

I kind of like the thread they have on there (they call it hall of fame) about record lab values. I see some strange lab values in hemepath. WBC of 350k in a new AML, eosinophils 50% on the diff on a patient with no known cause for it, platelets of 2.5 million (reactive!).

I like that thread, but prefer the "things I learned from my patients" thread. Some of the things on there are just hilarious.

It was weird being in Ann Arbor this time around. In some respects, I felt like I was at home. On the other hand, a part of me felt like a foreigner.

Do you have this whole week off? You sure deserve it!

Do we have to call you Angry instead of Andy now? :meanie:

I do have the whole week off. I feel better already. Completely decompressed and unwound. It feels good.

Angry or Dr. Rage would do. Andy is defunct.

Innit odd? It's like you freeze-frame a snapshot of the place and time in your mind, and when you go back people and places are the same and yet different.

Go to bed 🙂 It's not time to wake up yet!
