Nice. Thanks. 🙂

So glad to turn up here and see there aren't pink-and-red hearts flying through the air.

Yeah I feel like it's someone's responsibility to be the V-day Grinch 😛

here ya go!

That first image... is that the infamous so-called "boot-shaped heart"?

😉

I guess it does look kinda boot-like. You can't tell b/c it is so small, but it is actually a pic of somebody squeezing the buh-jebus out of a heart. It's my little shout out for all the V-Day haters out there. 🙂

I turn up, and everything starts moving super s-l-o-w. Mmfgh.

No. Assuming you mean this forum, things actually are much busier around here than they have been lately!

Heh no, I was actually referring to the speed of refresh. I had this answer typed up in one of the threads and hit Submit and it just... sat there. So I lost it. Frustrating!

Yeah, it seems like during the day and night SDN runs really slow...probably due to all the traffic on this site during peak hours.

SDN runs really fast early in the morning though 🙂 which is why I do most of my SDN surfing whenever I happen to be up early like today. I don't have as much patience to wait 5 minutes for a single thread to load up during the day.

Now, imagine what happens on ROL day...SDN will probably crash.

I think part of the problem is that that thread on the EM forum got linked to some high traffic blog, so there are many many visitors. A lot of them, I think, are registering to either post similar stories or complain about heartless physicians so that slows things down more.

I am happy to have so many new posts to read here! 🙂

I sure hope SDN doesn't crash the evening of rank day!

yaah, you are doing your part. you replied to like every thread this afternoon.
🙂

Yeah well I wasn't on this site for like 6 days so I had a lot of stuff to read. They had computers at USCAP but there was always a line for them so I didn't really feel like making everyone wait while I visited here. ALthough, it wouldn't have been as rude as the 70 year old woman pathologist who cut everyone off in line.

Speaking of computers and slowness of websites, I would like to say that Firefox totally pwns Internet Explorer. Peace out.

I think opera pwns IE as well - I have very little experience with firefox but the computers at USCAP had IE and firefox both installed and I tended to use firefox instead.

I went to UM-MSU last night. Poor Sparty. 😉 At the end of the game, the UM fans were chanting, "Just like football." They also had a few, "Can't read, can't write," chants in there. Was a good game, exciting actually which is much different from a normal UM basketball game which consists of one or two dunks, 10-20 three pointers, and a bunch of standing around.

Aahhhhh. Feels so nice!

See this in my right hand? It's what goes around.

See this in my left hand? It's what comes around. 😛

I saw part of that one - UM looked kind of listless as they often have lately. I am not sure if they will even make the tournament now. The road loss to Purdue and home loss to OSU both hurt.

It's so irritating when we don't get holidays off that most others get. Tomorrow is a national holiday, is it not?
Um...you don't get tomorrow off? We get tomorrow off, which means I put off all my previewing until tomorrow so that I can have a life this weekend.

No. We get only selected holidays off - christmas, new years, 4th of july, labor day, memorial day, thanksgiving. I think that's it (unless you are at the VA). It's really annoying. I always thought hospitals were about saving money, which could be done if you took the holiday off and didn't pay all the normal weekday employees for it.

 Guess you have never been to the giftshop here.

Well, gift shops also always have a little old lady volunteer. You just have to go at the right time. Fortunately our gift shop is in the main hallway and I pass it frequently.

What a bunch of ******s. They ended up stealing sh*tty beer.

I am starting my peds heme-onc sub-I today which looks to be another new level of misery.

I am so glad SDN is back!! My 7 week medicine sub-I is finally over and I just have a month of outpatient peds left (which consists of only 3.5 days/week 😀 ) and then I am done with med school!!!!!!!

Why in the world would you do something like that? 😕

Yet Another ****ing ******* OSCE Exam that may be the key to my staying on this landmass for any prolonged period of time.

My only source of comfort is that Emerg doesn't involve eternal rounds.

I still don't understand why you have to be in emergency. Can't you just go and do the OSCE without doing clinical time? And why do you have to do OSCEs, by the way?

We had a busy day today on frozens - diagnosed a carcinosarcoma which looked grossly like a leiomyoma, a mesothelioma, an lesion in an ocular muscle which could be a melanoma or a carcinoma, an ovarian fibroma that looked benign yet had a high mitotic count, a breast mass in a 20 year old girl that had malignant stroma, and an MFH in the thigh on a needle biopsy. That's like a pretty good day for random cases you don't see more than once a month.

It's the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada Exams, Part II. It's like Step 2 CS and Step 3 combined.

Doing the OSCE without doing clinical time is a possibility. But the thing is, by October it'll have been more than a year since I've used a stethoscope and it'll show. I should be able to do it with my Canadian training and pass, but the requirement is that you have 12 months of post-grad medical training before you can take it. I just have to resume the level of clinical competency that I was at when I graduated med school.

So I thought about my options for clinical experience, and talking to people who had taken the exam it seemed as if Emerg was the most high-yield in terms of exam relevance.

It's a C$1,450 exam, so I REALLY would like to not take it again.

Damn all these hoops.

One attending talking about another: "He's a dick"

The "dick" came into the frozen section room today and was shown a frozen section which was difficult. He said, "What, are you going to torture me when I just come in here like this?" Then he left.

Attending then said, "Next time, if you want to see some torture, bring your jumper cables, mother****er."

I very nearly died laughing.

Nice man, nice!

I lose my cool once in a while with surgeons too.
