One attending talking about another: "He's a dick"

The "dick" came into the frozen section room today and was shown a frozen section which was difficult. He said, "What, are you going to torture me when I just come in here like this?" Then he left.

Attending then said, "Next time, if you want to see some torture, bring your jumper cables, mother****er."

I very nearly died laughing.

i would have loved to have seen that

Next week signout is with our new chair of AP. It is his first week on signout, I am the one who gets to be first. Should be good, he is a great teacher and an amazing surgical pathologist. Our case load so far for the week looks smallish though. 🙁 I might be the only one who roots for more complicated cases. 😳

I can imagine the first lines of dialogue:

yaah: Good morning sir.
NCOAP: You sure gotta purty mouf. So how you Michigan boys like your salad tossed? With jelly or syrup? I prefer syrup!

Actually it was more like signout began and ended in the time it took me to say "good morning." The rate limiting step was dictating the cases, which is rather rare since I speak fast.

Oh look...it's tossed-salad-man! 😉

I love it when signout goes fast! You don't learn **** sometimes but you got the rest of the day to sit on yer ass! Booyah bitches!

Saw this funny post on a blogsite:

The next time you're having a bad day, imagine this:

You're a Siamese twin
Your brother, attached to your shoulder, is gay
You're not
He has a date coming over tonight
You only have one ass

Actually the thing is I did learn a lot, possibly more than normal. Because we don't focus on the **** that everyone knows but on the dilemmas.

Sigh. It's too late I need to go to bed.

Yeah, you got work tomorrow! Sucka!

I'm purposely gonna go to bed late so that when I get to Vegas tomorrow I'm not tired after gaining 3 hours.

My brother is going to Vegas tomorrow too! Weird.

Today was also busy, it is starting to pick up again. Unfortunately now everything I gross in he will not see because he is off service. The good news though is that Appelman is covering next week and that is always an experience.

I'm sending a gopher. 😀
Damn, that is a hughjass gopher. 😱

I've just been on a stretch of clinical chemistry, taking vacation time off or otherwise growing my butt reading journal articles most days. Nothing much else. My life seems to consist of a lot of shuffle-reading right now - Lester, Webpath, Pocket Robbins, Osler course notes... and clinical medicine algorithms for my re-entry into clinical medicine.

And then this is the part where I say "there's also a guy involved" and you go "ahhh...~" 😉 BOOYAH!!

Actually we all go OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! 😉

I am wiped out. No St Patricks day drinking for me. Was on call last night and there doing frozens until 11pm, back in before 6:30 am. Spent the afternoon squishing fat in neck and groin lymph node dissections. Still have a few left to gross in, including

1) a 25 cm thigh sarcoma radical resection

2) An 8 cm ameloblastoma with maxilla

3) Half of a mandible with a squamous cell CA

🙁 I hate grossing in head and neck things with bone.

It lives!

I picked that gopher because I knew it would get your attention. And, it worked. Congrats on the "guy involved". hehe

On an unrelated note, everyone should vote on this poll http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=266354 and look at all the asinine comments from people who actually think someone is smarter because they work in the ER, anesthesia, whatever.
I'm too lazy 😛

Half-seriously, what do you mean "everyone should vote on this poll"? Are you suggesting there is a particular checkbox to be checked i.e. pathology? I was thinking it would be cool to have "Other" come out top and send the threadmaker into a tizzy 😉

"The Most Intelligent"... ffs. Don't they know how our patients perceive us doctors? Bumbling fools who don't keep our appointments and work inefficiently and don't know what tests to order and bill insane amounts of cash per hour. Intelligence has nothing to do with it.

Yes there is a pathology option, but it trails critical care by a lot. A lot of noobs I think just automatically assume that critical care is difficult because it sounds l ike it should be. Of course, these are the people who assume pathology is all about dead people.

See, I looked at the poll and I couldn't bring myself to "Vote for pathology just because I'm in it". That would be too much like some versions of institutionalized religion.

Exactly how much time are you spending with this guy? 😛

What does "Permanent Press" on the washing machine cycle mean? How is it different from "Ultra clean?"
I have never seen "Ultra clean" as a cycle option. What is it, automatic bleaching?

Technically speaking, very little 😉

yaah said:

Permanet Press wash means that clothes washed on hot or warm get cooled down with cold water before they go through the spin cycle. That is supposed to help keep them from getting wrinkles. If you wash on cold, I dunno if there is any difference. I suppose that it depends on how your machine's "ultra clean" cycle operates. I haven't heard of that cycle before. If it is for heavily soiled items, it might do more rinse/spin cycles or more agitation than other cycles. Perhaps it's time to Google your manual.

heh. I'm picturing everything coming out stark white and falling to shreds.

So, is this an online guy then? Or, are you going on dates blindfolded?

Dude. If I wanted an online guy I would have just stuck around on SDN 😛

But not to worry y'all, I'm not one of the feared species of immigrants on the prowl to ensnare an👍 American husband (or wife).

Damn...nothing beats coming home at 3:30 on a surg path day.

What a great lifestyle this residency is! 😉

The real question here is why you would not want your clothes "ultra clean" every single time. To be honest I never want my clothes "somewhat clean" or even "clean". I want them ultra clean every freakin' time man.

So... this must be the post-match lull. Seriously there is like one post per day on this board these days... and its usually about D&D or WoW. You'd think some of you had jobs and stuff to do at noon on a Wednesday. Sheesh...

In my head I thought that I would be fine, but every once in a while I flipped out about it just because the consequences of failing would be so severe (no time to take it again, therefore I wouldn't graduate). Also, I forgot to wash my hands once! Oh no!

I am just glad to know for sure!

This week I got home at:

Monday: 11:30 (was on call as well)
Tuesday: 11pm
Wednesday: 10:30pm

Of course, tuesday I left for a few hours in the middle of the evening to do some other things.

Word. I was so happy when I found out I passed that I hung my step 2 CS report up on the fridge. Mostly I was glad that I didn't need to pay to take it again, 'cause that sucked. I heard a rumor that the POS CS exam might be "optional" in the near future. What kind of stupid crap is that? Issue No. 1, how the hell did we get so unlucky to be one of maybe 3 classes required to take it? Issue No.2- who in their right mind would take that f0cking POS exam without being forced to? Sure as
**** wouldn't be me. Excuse my long-haul trucker mouth.

I had a very vivid dream last night that I took my boards and failed them. The odd thing was, I did well on the AP section and passed the CP section well, but where I failed was the heretofore unknown "essay section." I cannot remember what the essay was about, but I am pretty sure it had something to do with discussing a differential diagnosis and instead of listing possibilities I just started writing about how I was putting my thoughts together and then ran out of time and got a zero. Then I went back to the program and this one attending who had been apprised of the results said how surprised he was when he saw the results.

The good news was that I realized I was still in second year so I had two more years left to try again.

Finally gonna get involved in the Boston ultimate frisbee community! God, I'm gonna be so out of shape today when I head out to the fields.

Oh woops...I logged onto this account to send you that PM regarding a previous post of mine. I forgot to switch accounts. I don't care though...I'm gonna lay low for a while. Well, I guess I've been doing that already 😉

Vote for Pedro and all your wildest dreams will come true!

I just got the world's biggest pile of paperwork to send back to Michigan. It even came in a FedEx box, not an envelope. :scared:

I just got a ton of stuff in a Fed Ex box also. It is going to take until July to get all of this done.

On another note...
April fool's day has passed and nobody pulled any pranks? I was expecting at least one "My friend just finished at MGH and had to take a job making 65k in rural Montana" thread. Oh well, there is always next year.

I just started filling it out and it's making me mad. In this day and age, we have to fill out on a billion forms our name, date of birth, social security #, address, education, graduation date, etc. Like all the relevant parties don't already know this stuff anyway.

And some of it that could be useful, like direct deposit, etc. - I don't yet have a Michigan address, bank account, or driver's license! 🙄

I don't have any of that with MA either yet... they also want to know my office address, billing information, what kind and what percent of patients I'll be seeing 😕 ?? There's something about providing 3 letters of reference too... goodness, I may have to hire a personal assistant by the time this is done to help me figure it out 😉

That's it- I give up... I'm going to bake cupcakes instead!!

Supah Sheep! I haven't seen you in here in ages !

I can't believe you guys actually got a BOX. that is just crazy. Mine came in a envelope the size of a suitcase. Between graduation, starting residency, moving, and planning a stuipd wedding I have the To Do list from hell.
 Maybe I should go do something about it instead of p!ssing and moaning. I will most likely do something else really important like play solitaire.

Yeah, I find that weird too - I ended up changing most of my info when I moved here and all my data changed. But I think a lot of it is for acquiring licenses and other such paperwork.

I have to do that too. Do you think we can just use our ERAS LOR's or do we need others?
