It's really variable - depends a lot on the chemistry of the residents. For me, I got to go home a lot more in outside hospitals, not in the University Hospital setting. Talk to your classmates and see which rotations are easy and go for them. Some people even had a surgery sub-i where they left by noon every day - urology.

I did a grand total of 2 H&Ps in two weeks, nodded off regularly during clinic and got an Above Average on this Plastics rotation. Non-University Hospital of course 😀 Today was my last day and I got sent home at 1.

Next week: Gen Surg at the Centre of Excellence 🙁
I want a Pinot Noir and someone to share it with!
 
I got tomorrow off work, so I have time to post for a bit. 🙂

My dog pulled me down the last 2 steps when I was taking him out to potty and I landed on the front of my foot then pivoted my ankle. It hurts!

The good news is that my exam today was a surprise take home, so I am sure to do quite well on it. I do wish that it was over with, though.
 
A surprise take home? I know Pharm school is different, but geez! I swear to you, if they told people at my med school there was a test, then the day of the test they said "surprise, it's a take-home!" the students would riot.

It's the worst - in the hospital, although I'm busy, it makes the time go quickly. In a hospital setting, I can slink away to nap or read or surf the net... something. Here, I'm trapped with nowhere to go and nothing to do, excpet making small talk with female speech therapists who bear an uncomfortable resemblance to my middle school gym teacher :scared: And when it's a slow day in the hospital, the team will send me home early when they know I'm a future pathologist. Here, I am in a different clinic everyday, with new people - they want to keep me the whole time to pump me full of their subjective mumbo-jumbo. 3 more weeks... such an utter waste.

OK, I feel better now. This pinot noir will soothe my bitterness.

I kind of wish I got drunk last night. Instead, I didn't do squat and now I have to go in again today to finish three annoying big cases that had to fix and preview my slides and work on another presentation I have to give on thursday AM. Oy. Fun weekend ahead!

Well judging by my vast experience in this area you are in the minority. 😳 Well, it may mean they like me at least somewhat, but it doesn't mean they want me to ask them out necessarily.

I think you are right though that I am more conservative about this than most other ladies. I hate getting mixed signals so I am very careful about giving them.

So Andy's right about what that means when I come interview at Michigan and touch your shoulder. :laugh:

Tonight I have been planning a vacation for my one week off between defending my thesis and going back to med school. I am thinking about going to Colorado Springs. I have a little bit of money saved up, but not enough for the interview trail. Maybe I cannot afford my trip. 🙁

Thinking about it certainly was a nice diversion, though. 🙂

seriously though, the previous credit card bill had insane expensees from my january interviews (4 total...one of which was a total waste of time and money).

this past month, i've been rackin up bar tabs and then there was the purchase of the laptop...which by the way, totally kicks ass.

I love laptops so much that I have 2 (1 PC and 1 mac). My PC has serious issues and is practically unusable anymore though.

yeah the laptop that i brought to med school totally sucks ass now. it takes a whole hour for windows to load. there's probably a whole ton of spyware on it from my roommate surfin' the porn back during M1 year.

Macs blow. you should toss it.

Ha! Thing is, none of these are prospects.

1) Lab girl L is way too hot and probably not interested.
2) Lab girl G is practically married
3) Fellow resident, well I do not want to get involved with a fellow resident and I don't think she does either.
4) Girl at bar was at the bar with her boyfriend
5) Waitress was trying to get a better tip.

So you see, it is not that simple.

Macs do not blow!! I used to think that until I started using one all the time. Look at both of us having all these problems with our pcs - macs are much more reliable. I find them more intuitive, too (once I got used to it). The only thing that frustrates me is that there is so much good software that is only available for PCs anymore.

They whine too much. We have higher academic standards, blah blah blah, that's why we can't compete with the schools that cheat, blah blah blah. Bite me. ND is not much different from any other big university football program.

Every single year they have one of the best recruiting classes in the country and they always end up sucking anyway.
