Tito bringing in Pedro for the 7th is quite possibly the worst managing move I have ever seen.
A 7 run lead.
Derek Lowe mowing them down.
Experienced bullpen people in reserve.
Yankees and their crowd somewhat lulled.
Hey, I have an idea, let's bring in the ONE GUY who will fire up the fans and the team, and who has some kind of mental block against his normal pitching when he faces them. And let's do it early, so there is time for them to come back. And, wonder of wonders, the first batter he faces is Matsui who treats him like batting practice. He got out of the inning with only 2 runs given up, but gee whiz. Plus, with a 7 run lead, you have to at least
think about potential starters for the next series. Even if you don't want to do that, wouldn't you rather save Pedro for if someone else blows it and makes the game a little bit tighter? Wouldn't you rather have Pedro come in in the 9th with a two run lead to slam the door?
