I dunno. These babies up yours would probably stink... I mean, sting... too.

This General Surgery clerk clocked a mere 6 hours in the hospital today. Free lunch to round off the day.

Somewhere in my youth or childhood, I must've gone and done something good.

Wow! Do you know that's almost a line from a song in The Sound of Music?

Alternatively, he was expressing astonishment that Canadians have heard of the Sound of Music.
yes, canadians are familiar with the concept of song. that's why they have a national anthem.

My ex-housemate (who was a cookie-baker extraordinaire - think Cadbury Mini-egg cookies) had a saying: "Raisins are doubly evil. First they're healthy. And second they trick you into thinking they are chocolate chips."

Yeah, the surg path fellow made fun of me and said what kind of pathologist are you going to be if you can't distinguish between raisins and chocolate chips? To him I replied, "go look at the cookie and you tell me."

oooo yaah got a lil snippy on surg path.

aight i'm out. time to get mah drink on!

Cranky yaah has been known to be entertaining.

But dammit - why is it that people who walk slowly (the waddlers) always walk in the center of the hallway and don't let you by? It's bothering me now.

This drives me nuts too! Also they often are in big groups so you have absolutely no chance of getting by.

It was awful in the cafeteria today. I got stuck behind a pack of slow walkers who of course fanned out and proceeded directly to the counter that I was going to. It took me about 15 minutes to get lunch. 😡 But there was some guy playing the saxophone in the cafeteria so I guess it's all ok. 🙄 Oh. And my lunch cost $8. 😡

I was studying in the hospital cafeteria today with one of my classmates when she put forth the line of the week. "For CYP2D6 methadone is both a substrate and an inhibitor? What the hell?!?!?!" It took me a few minutes to stop laughing at her.

My finals are done! It's officially Spring Break! YEAH!

Have fun on spring break! Think of me buried up to my elbows in cancers and lymph node dissections and piles of slides.

Congrats nanner, I bet it feels good!

:luck:

For shizzle! What's really annoying is if by some miracle you squeek around them, they look at YOU like YOU'RE rude. Um, excuse me- I'm not the one hogging the entire hall! FOrgive me for trying to get to the code, your royal slowness.

Thank you guys. 🙂 I have today, tomorrow, and Sunday off. Since one of my co-workers is scheduled to have a c-section on Sunday, I think that come Monday moring my little break will be over. But it just feels so good to not have any coursework lurking in the back of my brain. I have this fat "to do" list with like 35 things on it. Yesterday it had 43, so it's shrinking fast. I am going to get it done by the end of break, I swear! It'll be like the first time in 6 years that I have whittled my list to nothing.

I sometimes say "pardon me (or excuse me), I'm just going to scoot by you here" in a really pleasant voice and go around people who are hogging space. The only place this really happens is the grocery store though. If you want ppl to move in the hallway at work, get loud shoes. Then they automatically move to the side when they hear you coming.

They're still oblivious. They don't move at all. Interestingly, they are often people who drive like absolute maniacs and tailgate you while you are in the parking garage and driving slowly to not hit the things which suddenly appear (why there aren't more parking garage accidents I have no idea).

So you are one of the annoying people who drives at 2mph in the parking garage! I caught you! 😡

So, do you find dayplanners hilarious too? :meanie:

Well, I do not really drive like a snail. I actually drive pretty fast. I just don't drive fast in parking garages. I think there's a difference!

I found out today that hot lab girl has a boyfriend. I am actually quite relieved by the whole thing because I have been getting much more friendly with her and was almost getting to the point where I was going to ask her out just because I could and she was available. But now I don't have to! Thing is, I don't think we are really that compatible and plus I HATE work relationships, but because she was so darn hot it made me reconsider my objection. But now I don't have to anymore! We have gone on a couple of dates to the vending machines though. 😍

I'm relieved that I never have to date anyone again. It sucks so much that I've already decided to become a nun if anything ever happens to my husband.

"On this day (+2) in 1858, that august deliberative body, the U.S. House of Representatives was calmly discussing a matter of import to the nation. Well.....maybe 'calmly discussing' misses the point. The House was in mid- debate/mid-filibuster on the topic of admitting Kansas to statehood.....and whether such admission should be as a free state or slave state.

"The debate had been going since the prior day and as it moved into the wee small hours of February 6th the tension, partisanship and weariness began to show. Since night-time in February, in Washington, in the Capitol building, in the 1850's tended not to be too warm, several members of Congress were said to have sipped (or gulped) some alcoholic beverages.....just to stave off the chill.

"Rep. Keitt of S.C. made a rather uncomplimentary remark about Rep. Galusha Grow of PA. (who had the floor at the time). Rep. Grow responded with an equally unkind assessment of Keitt. Keitt went for Grow's neck, but was knocked to the ground. Soon most of the House was wrestling, spitting, kicking and punching their worthy and distinguished colleagues. Spittoons and inkwells flew through the air. The Speaker gaveled for order with no success. The Sergeant at Arms beat members with his staff (in a non-partisan way, of course).

"Rep. Grow was being pummeled by Barksdale of Mississippi when Washburn of Wisconsin rushed to Grow's defense. Washburn's intention was to grab Barksdale by the hair with his left hand and knock him out with a right uppercut. But when he grabbed Barksdale's hair, it came off in his hand. Shocked, Washburn screamed. The rioting representatives looked up and saw a suddenly bald Barksdale.....and Washburn waving his wig. 'My God, he's been scalped!' shouted someone and the riot broke up in riotous laughter."

It's a shame that things like that don't happen anymore. Nowadays, it is controversial in congress when one member points their finger at someone else. 🙄 We need a good beating in the senate. Like Orrin Hatch vs Ted Kennedy or something.

British parliament on CSPAN is good entertainment. They don't physically attack each other but there is an awful lot of booing and hissing and name calling. Much of it understated.

Is it the being at IHOP you don't like or the process of walking out the door? Seems like once you're there you can just relax.

Was it the Taiwanese parliament where they had that massive food fight over a significant disagreement over some legislation? I think it happened a few years ago but I'm not sure it was in Taiwan.

Taiwanese MPs hold a food fight
Already known for their heated debates, and even the odd fist fight, Taiwan's legislators now seem to have resorted to another form of insult - hurling food at each other.

One minute they were sitting in a conference hall having lunch, engaged in a strongly worded discussion about international arms sales.

The next minute it was the lunch that was doing the talking, as the island's lawmakers hurled rice, meat, vegetables and even hard-boiled eggs across the room.

According to the Associated Press news agency, a local TV crew caught the incident on camera, but said it was difficult to tell who had started the food fight.

Opposition member Chu Fong-chi was filmed shouting at ruling party delegates, and then ducking to avoid something being thrown in her direction.

She quickly responded, picking up a cardboard lunch box and throwing it at another legislator, Chen Chong-yi.

Mr Chen gave as good as he got, leaving Ms Chu with what appeared to be food stains on the back of her blouse.

"My whole body smells like a lunch box!" she is said to have yelled.

The ministerial food fight was all over in minutes, with the only evidence being a few pieces of egg and fistfuls of rice in various corners of the otherwise austere conference hall.

Taiwan has a history of rowdy behaviour in parliament, and a number of fights broke out there in the late 80s and early 90s.

I had pancakes for breakfast! 🙂

There is another pancake-breakfast chain that I visited in Central Oregon, I forget the name. Pancake Cafe or something non-memorable like that 🙄 Reputed to be better than IHOP. Blueberry pancakes, Bing cherry crepes, omelettes and grits oh my...
