I have never been to IHOP in my entire life!! There isn't one around here for me to go either. I love breakfast food too - it's my favorite.

There is a great place here in Iowa City where for some reason all the presidential candidates come hang out during the primary season. They have delicious chocolate chip pancakes.

I'm relieved that I never have to date anyone again. It sucks so much that I've already decided to become a nun if anything ever happens to my husband.

amen, sister- no pun intended 🙂

Oh, stormjen, we are painting now too.... what a pain! The fumes!!!!

Can't believe it's already late on saturday. 😳 Time flies!

There is a Rocky movie marathon competing with the NCAA tournament on tv. I am quite conflicted but I am sure that I do not want to go out and miss this!

Well I am going out! 😀 Into all that horizontally-falling snow.

Student Latin/Ballroom dance party? Check.
Indian lunch buffet tomorrow? Check.
Margarita or two with dinner? Definitely

Weather aside, why can't more of my weekends be like this!

Ironically, this would be like my nightmare weekend! Except for the margaritas of course. Yummy.

Oh come on. Where's your sense of adventure? I bet you've never set foot on a dance floor in your life, although we can change that... 😛

No, I have. Every wedding I go to always includes dancing. And I have been to a dance club or two. But I never enjoy it unless I am with people I like, and then I would prefer to be with them somewhere else!

I do have a sense of adventure, hence why I have tried these things before. But I also know what I don't like! Kind of kidding about the nightmare though. The real nightmare weekend would be a lot different.

Funny. That is the same with me and most alcohol.

Having said that, dance studio environments are quite different from dance clubs - or weddings for that matter! People don't go to a dance studio for a smoke or a drink or small talk or to show off their moves or to pick someone up...

What's the fun then? The fun is the dance 🙂

Yeah - I guess I just have never enjoyed dancing much. I have tried a bunch, but just don't like it. It's like people who just don't like sports. You can't convince them to like it, they know they don't. Of course, if you don't like sports you can still go, sit quietly, bring a book, or whatever. If you don't like dancing and you go to a dance hall you have to stand in the corner and look silly.

It's really weird being on this time zone, I must say. Everybody's in bed by the time I get back to my hotel room late at night to see what has happened on SDN

My problem is that I hate getting into the shower in the morning because it means I have to actually acknowledge that the day has started. So, I put it off as long as possible. More often than not, I show up to my bus stop within 60 seconds of the bus departure. This is why I do not snail the parking garage.

Anyhoo, so, about IHOP. I had a belgian waffle with the strawberries and whipped cream on the side. This time it was real whipped cream, not their fake ass dairy whip that isn't worth eating. My waffle was yummAy. And, my uncle was telling stories that were actually funny for once.

My uncle is a middle school principal. And, my aunt is a school district administrator. They were at some school related conference in a hotel. My aunt walks up to my uncle and says that she's cold and would he please put his arm around her. So, he does. Apparently the woman working at the front desk thought he had just met my aunt or something and was hitting on her in the hotel lobby. She made some wierd motion telling him to get his arm out from around her. Then, my uncle says loudly, "It's okay, I'm just trying to see if she'll sleep with me tonight."

Later, my uncle was driving in a caravan of cars, full of school personnel. He had the district superintendant in the passenger seat, and 3 principals int he back seat. When they stopped at a red light, my uncle yells out "Chinese firedrill!" and, everyone was kind of like "huh?" Then the Superintendant says, "Well, I guess if a principal says it, I have to do it." So, they all get out and run around the car at the red light. The next day, the superintendant was trying to explain what happend to a teacher who was in the car behind them. That person happened to be Chinese. So, my uncle was like, "No, Norwegian fire drill. It's called a Norwegian fire drill."

I'm sorry. But IHOP sucks. You might as well throw your money away at a diner that is identified by a sign called "Diner".

Your uncle sounds like my kind of people.

I went to McDonalds for breakfast this morning - I really like their pancakes. Sorry, "Hot"cakes. 🙄 When I order them I refuse to say hotcakes. I say pancakes. Hotcakes are lame.

Andy, you have apparently never experienced generic diner food. I was forced to eat at a hole in the wall named "The Rite Spot" for most of my childhood. When it burned down, I was so grateful to the arsonist. If you are ever out this way, I will take you to a total piece of crap ghetto restauraunt. Then, we can go to IHOP. And, you will be thouroughly enlightened.

My uncle always seemed more reserved than that. I guess he is alot more like my dad than I realized.

I used to eat pancakes and waffles and stuff then I decided that was like eating candy for breakfast. I will do it occasionally, but not all the time. You know they just call them hotcakes to remind their employees not to serve them cold, right? They used to call them pancakes when I was a kid. The last time I had McDonalds pancakes/hotcakes was in 2001, after I worked an overnight shift.

I usually like diner food, I don't know what that says about me. But it's always quality. 👍
Well then, you too need to be educated as to how bad places can be. Have you ever been to a restauraunt with a piece of plywood nailed over the front door? I went to one with my grandmother at 8am on a Sunday morning and got hit on by men who were already drunk and totally obnoxious. Oh yeah, and the food was crap too.

There is a really yummy hole in the wall in Tacoma called the Sunriser. I like that place.

yaah said:
No, I can honestly say I have never been to a place with plywood over the front door.

Me neither. I am very paranoid about where I eat. I always figure if it's filthy (or has plywood over the front door  ) where the customers can see it, what is it like in the kitchen?? I just went to a restaurant the other day, sat down, got a menu, decided the restaurant wasn't clean enough for me, and got up and left.

I never know to be happy or displeased when I go to a restaurant with an open kitchen. Because sometimes you see the chef. :scared:

Is this in reference to curling?

I'm trying to remember the last time I saw anyone sit quietly at hockey/football/basketball/soccer/baseball 😛

You probably wouldn't be there in the first place. (Which is also what you've been saying all along, huh?)

Last night was fun! I think I will take up Latin/Ballroom and be a little more social in my dance pursuits instead of sticking to my obscure dance background.

Time to head out! My buffet awaits.

I have difficulty believing that such places exist in Iowa City.

I think this one place is pretty much the only one. It is a little hole in the wall place that I had never been before.

Well, I have seen people sit quietly at sports events. Often women who are there with their husband or something.

And if I was at a dance club it would be because someone made me go, continuously saying, "it'll be fun" and "try it" and stuff like that. And so I would go, but not enjoy it.

The store today was out of cherry limeade. 🙁

Shoestrings are ok, I guess. Have never been that impressed. I only eat them if they are there and there isn't another choice.

I have like 5 jugs of it. It was 99 cents at Safeway the other day. If you were closer, I would give you some of mine. I got a bottle of Grey Goose the other day. It's way better than other vodka. I think I'm hooked.

I fear it is being discontinued. The shelf at the Kroger still had the price for it listed, but no actual cartons of it. 🙁

Grey Goose is good, you are right. As is Chopin.

No! No! It's just getting more popular! Relax, man. 😎

Well, I hope you're right. I had to get a bunch of fruit punch and while that's good, it's still not the same. It's like getting eggplant lasagna when you meant to get meat lasagna. Yuck.

Not eggplant lasagna! That stuff is gross!

I discovered that it takes 1 day to make slush and 2 to make a brick. Then after 1 day int he fridge, you can pour out concentrated CL, but with more C than L. It was odd. I like it regular better.

Wow - you have studied this a lot more than I have. That's impressive!

As for eggplant lasagna, yes, ick. Sometimes the cafeteria at the hospital has it - I see it there, looks good, hey, it's lasagna! Then you see the sign: "Eggplant." Bah. 😡

Wow - sunday night already. Time flies! Although I talked to someone on friday who said that she often feels on friday night as though the weekend is already over.

I love eggplant lasagna, but then I don't eat meat.

I have a random non-pathology related question. On the main SDN forums page, some moderators' names are in green. I have never noticed this before. What does this mean?

This is a new batch of moderators. They are all in training for the time being.

Heh. On probation!

Alrighty, gotta go to bed after I get rid of the foul taste in my mouth from watching CSpan.

Hmm. I would either kick and scream and refuse to go - or learn the game.

I suppose one can sit quietly at tennis or squash.

If the event were wrestling or some ridiculous variation thereof, I would definitely kick and scream!

I don't even know what squash is, as a sport.

Agreed. I was at McCarran airport when the **** was going down. All I could think was, DasN is on speed!

I don't know what it is, I just think it's kind of annoying. Because all the threads that had been active are now thrown into disarray and if there were any ongoing conversations a lot of them have probably been disrupted. I mean, of course most of the threads get caught up in random tangents anyway, but at least there is some semblance of order. It's the kind of thing that makes people stop visiting a forum.

well couldn't you just put him on your ignore list and then his posts would disappear right?
