I am very happy I didn't stay up for that game. Does it really get them better ratings to start the game so late? I mean, even on the west coast this game ended at 10pm. I tired of the continued persistence of starting a game that includes two east coast teams in an east coast city at a time that is more conducive to west coast fans. Bull****, I say. Tonight's game I have more sympathy for, I won't complain as much.

We only had 6 cases to sign out today on gyn path - three were tubal ligations. One other was a dermoid cyst with a lot of brains in it.
Last night's game was pretty awesome though. I paid for it today though...I was groggy all day. Thank goodness I got to come home at 5 pm today.

tonight's game looks pretty good too.

Go Longhorns!

Lots of turnovers so far. I kind of tuned out for a lot of the second quarter, every time I looked up someone was fumbling or getting intercepted. Reggie Bush hasn't been used that much from what I can tell.

Is it unpatriotic to put the TV on mute when the national anthem comes on? I usually do so when some bogus celebrity comes on to sing it with their own special "flair." This time was Leanne Rimes or however you say her name. MUTE.

I been tuning in and out as well. I missed the Reggie Bush fumble, for example. But Texas is up 16-7 now. It's looking good.

You should be deported.

Absolutely. Congrats quant on the PSU win! Only got four hours of sleep with the triple overtime! Awesome the Longhorns won as well!

I certainly will miss college football for the next several months.

It was no Music City Bowl, but a great game nonetheless. 😀

Sometimes pathology arguments are a pain in the ass. We had a vulvar SCC the other day, brought to tumor board. It mostly looked like a verrucous carcinoma, but in one area it was too deeply and irregularly invasive so it was called warty carcinoma. Now there is an argument about how to measure depth of invasion.

Kurman says "Measure the depth from the most superficial rete peg." Apparently clinicians disagree with this because as a large tumor the rete pegs are about 3 mm long, so the depth of invasion of 4.2 mm is MUCH MUCH too high. No, dip****s, that is WHY it is characterized the way it is. They have done studies. +pissed+

We had a clinical history today that I looked up where the patient was described as follows in the physical exam: "Abdominal: Well fed and non tender."

Well fed? Is this political correctness to the Nth degree?

Surgery note?

Did they do away with S/NT/ND/NABS?

No, actually they have maintained their abbreviations. There was one a few weeks ago which was insane, I wish I saved it. Said something like, "Pt with CT d/c 2/2 resolved PTX s/p CABG."

This particular note about the well fed abdomen was an OB/gyn office visit.

This week needs to not be busy. If I luck out and the clinicians keep their patients alive for one more week, I'm gonna be a HappyTesticle.

The Return of Deschutes' Creepily Cute Puppy Avatar!! *In B-Grade Movie Announcer Voice* Will AngryT adopt and deface it this time? Will the disapperance of AndyM have any bearing on its fate? Watch this space... 😛

Good luck deschutes, not that you need it! :luck: It will be nice to have you back at SDN!

I am marching back into the hospital for the first time in seven weeks and woke up feeling like crap. Psychogenic, maybe?

Good luck tomorrow (and the day after). What hack decided that Step 3 should still remain a 2-day exam?!?

Everybody...let's raise a glass (I raise my Remy Martin in hand here) and toast..."Let tomorrow not suck! May tomorrow be good to us!"

No autopsies today. Especially don't need one tomorrow! Keeping my fingers crossed. C'mon clinicians...if you can't keep your patients alive for the week, at least help a brutha out just for one stinkin' day!

My niece is truly in the terrible 2s. I still love her dearly though. 😍

My mom (her grandmother, to my niece): I love you so much.
My niece: I don't love you.
My mom: I know deep down in your heart that you do.
My niece: No I don't.

That was out of character because normally my niece is just so kind and loving to everybody. Pretty funny though.

Guess it's just about over by now. I think you should be able to take it in one day if you want. The second day is a lot shorter, I was done about 1pm. So overall even though you have like 16 hours to take it, I finished in about 9-10.

Our official forecast is for "heavy snow" tomorrow, with a total of less than a half inch of accumulation.

How heavy can it be if we are getting less than half an inch?? 😕

A friend of mine made a bet with his coworkers that if the Seahawks won the Superbowl he would break all of the knucles in his foot. :scared:

Yikes!! 😱

What happened to betting good old fashioned beer or money or something instead of serious bodily injury?

I won a chocolate milkshake when the Huskers won the Alamo Bowl. 😎

Woohoo! Go Huskers!

Hey are you coming to Seattle for interviews at all?

No. I have heard that Seattle is a beautiful city, and of course you're there 😉 , but I had a really hard time choosing programs to interview and ended up not going to the west coast at all. My family is in the midwest, and VERY STRONGLY wants me to stay here. The farthest away I went is Virginia, mostly because there is a strong Iowa <--> Virginia path connection. I really liked it too.

Anyway, hopefully we will get to meet another time! 👍

We are supposed to get heavy snow here as well, the same, 1-6 inches. I am on call tomorrow, already know I have to go in for a couple of rush biopsies 🙁

The snow here has really been heavy all day. It is a beautiful snow fall. I think for most of the day the temperature was above freezing and the ground was warm, so a lot of it melted as soon as it hit, but I would say we have 4-5 inches now and it is still coming down.

I have the world's strongest Burger King craving ever. Oh, what I wouldn't do for a Spicy TenderCrisp chicken sandwich, which I may actually be able to taste even though I am so congested, and a milkshake for my throat.

Problem: It is snowing like crazy, and they basically don't bother to plow in Iowa City.

Possible scenario: I give in to craving, get in car wreck, end up in hospital, miss step 2 CS on Monday, lose $1000 + hospital bill + car repair bill, don't graduate because missed Step 2 CS. 🙄

What would you do?

How was this guy pulling down almost a million a year in private practice??

Because people would contract with him to do the autopsies for their family member. A lot of MEs make money this way, they do private autopsies on the side when people request it. As I have said before, paranoia in this country is unbelievable, and occasionally when someone dies in a hospital that will provide an autopsy free of charge, the family declines it because they feel there will be a cover up. And they will pay hundreds of dollars (perhaps thousands) to an uninvolved individual. When someone attains a measure of celebrity, in some circles this passes for expertise and skill. He probably had associations with many lawyers and "advocacy" groups.

It's been a weird winter for weather here in Virginia. Three snow/ice storms before xmas, but January has been really nice (was in the 60's today and sunny 👍 )

Have it cabbed over to your house? People do it w/ drugs. There is no reason you can't do it with dinner.

We ended up getting a dusting of snow (but only on the grass) and the roads stayed clear and almost dry. So much for "winter weather advisory."

I came in this morning to get a rush renal biopsy but it was cancelled. Oh well. Guess I could have stayed home 😳

It's weird, the weather has been pretty good here recently. It's ironic that it hasn't snowed much in Boston so far (knock on wood).

I seem to remember a little snow in Boston last time I was there... 😛

Yeah, but when you were here, that was the worst of it. And you interviewed here quite a while ago...who are you again? 😛

The weather hasn't been bad since. The high is supposed to be 59 degrees today! A good day to have off, if I must say.

Hmm. Good idea. I ended up just risking the roads and got my yummy BK. The roads really weren't that bad, even though it had been snowing so much.

Move to the west coast!!! 🙂 Its been ~70's degrees here (in southern California). I don't think I could ever live on the east coast (or anywhere where it snows again).
