Just went into anatomy lab to study... and I walked in on a doctor doing a sea turtle necropsy!!!!!!!!! SO COOL!!! I LOVE VET SCHOOL! 😍😍😍
 
So I did a clean re-installation of Windows 7 (the kind where you delete everything from your computer), and then I realized I didn't copy the folder that had this past week's worth of study guides I've made for classes and I got so pissed at myself. Turns out I didn't actually do a clean reinstall so I was able to save the file before doing an actual clean re-installation lol. I'm starting to like using my computer again. It was becoming a pain in the butt, being so slow and bogged down with things I don't use.

Yeah, it was the doctor, his tech, and three of us freshman that just happened to walk in. He was using our freshman anatomy lab to do it, so it was just all out there in the open. The doc was really awesome and was teaching us and quizzing us. We were right there when he discovered what caused it's death (tear in the left lung that he believed to be from some sort of trauma.). Anyway, it was really, really awesome. Between last night at food animal club where we found moo moo twins 😀, and seeing the sea turtle today, I've already been reminded about why I'm here 😍

Totally looked like a rockstar today (my day off). Went to a friend's party and their aussie shepherd puppy was everywhere. They forgot to put a baby gate up and he gorged on oatmeal raisin cookies. Totally shoved peroxide down his throat and made him vomit up like 5-10 cookies. Just happy that we had talked about raisins being bad that day.

I wonder if the raisins being cooked in the cookies would affect their toxicity. Like the proteins getting denatured by the heat. It fascinates me that we know so little about what makes them toxic. Good job on inducing vomiting!

It is my understanding that they are just as toxic. Oatmeal raisin cookies are one of the common causes of the toxicity that you will see (if you see much of it). For whatever reason, it seems to be something we can better educate owners on than say lilies in cats.

I got to talk to my entire family tonight. My grandma sounds great and says she feels amazing. 🙂

Makes me so happy. Her and my grandpa are going on cruise next month, they will be really close to Scotland. That is my grandma, stubborn and always on the go and never wanting to miss a beat or an opportunity to travel.

Also, my power is still on. 🙂
 
Tomorrow is my Last first day of Undergrad!! Only 110 days until graduation!! I can't believe how fast time flies! All I have to do is survive this semester and this application cycle and hopefully this time next year will be the first day of vet school!! :luck: 👍 :xf:
 
In 35 minutes, I will be shadowing for the vet receptionist position they are hiring for.

Also, the boyfriend thinks I look hot in scrubs.

That's a good boyfriend! We used to call scrubs birth control because most of them completely eliminate any bit of femininity. Good luck today!

My rave:

My best guy friend and his girlfriend of a year broke up. I was being texted by the roommate, other friends, basically everyone who knows both of us when it happened because no one liked her or their relationship.

I might love the boy, but we'll see if anything comes of this.

I read a memoir of someone who worked in a psychiatric hospital, and scrubs were a major turn-on for the author. :shrug:

Ugh, I WISH I knew something. How long does it take to read an email for heaven's sake?
I've been checking my phone obsessively for emails. I was joking earlier that I feel like it's vet school acceptance day bc Im checking it so much. Guess I should avoid rave threads like it's vet school acceptance day too 😀. Believe me, I will be screaming on one thread or the other when I found out :scared:
 
I got accepted to the Dual-degree DVM/MPH at SGU!

Now I need to decide if it is really something I want to do. Anyone have any insight on the value of an MPH in Veterinary Public Health vs more summer externships?

So after dislocating my knee on June 3rd, having knee surgery on June 5th, coming down with appendicitis and having an emergency appendectomy on July 14th, and having my knee manipulated under anesthesia on August 9th, I'm finally recovered enough to go back to work next week!!!!! It has been one complete hot mess of a summer, and I'm SOOOO glad it's almost over and I get to have my normal life back 😀😀:soexcited:. I probably will need to have my ACL and/or PCL reconstructed down the road but for now, I'm going to enjoy being able to walk, drive, and work in an ER instead of being a patient in one 😀

I don't know much about MPH's in the vet field, but whatever choice you do make, you're gonna be awesome!

And my mini rave of the day: histology is making so much freakin' sense! Like both lecture AND lab! I literally walk into lab, so the assigned work and it feels like I'm actually having fun in lab in vet school! Who woulda thought?

(on a side note, does this make me crazy???)

I was gonna comment before about their website - it's so terrible, I just don't understand why - but enough time had passed since you posted it that it would have been weird.

But seriously, do some practice taking notes with OneNote and get the hang of it. All your classmates will be jelly. Plus you don't have to a: waste money on printing out PPTs, or b: wait to use the printers in the morning when everyone else and their mother is printing stuff.

Ugh their website was failing me so bad. I ended up just calling and ordering it over the phone, since it was being so stupid. I'm still very, very excited. 😍 I used to draw a lot so I'm used to using a tablet for that, so I hope it won't be too hard to transition. 😀
 
It's different than a pad for drawing (so you really couldn't use it to draw fancy pictures, I'm not sure it works that well for that) but it's basically just like writing on a piece of paper. It's not hard to get used to.
 
I made my first international transfer of money to my bank account back in the US this weekend. I just checked my US bank account and the tranfer worked!! :soexcited:

I know such a minor rave, but I was really afraid that I had put some of the information in wrong and that it would have been sent to some place in Tanzania or something. I could have gone into the store, but they charge 12 pounds extra than you are charged online for an international transfer.

So excited that it worked out right!! 😀

Just found out that an old friend(10 years ago, from church) lives across the street from me!! 😀 :laugh: I bought something from her on facebook and she PM'd me her address. We had a good laugh about that tonight. Probably won't be hanging out though. She's married with 4 or 5 kids and we don't have much in common anymore. 😛 But, I still thought it was :laugh:

This isn't as big as some of your raves. I no longer hate going to work. I guess I didn't realize how much it affected me until I noticed today that I'm having a lot more fun every day, that I no longer feel drained on my days off, and that I don't dread going to work every day. I joke around a lot more and have been working out a little more consistently. I guess I was in a state of depression (I knew I was getting there, didn't realize how bad it was until it got better). So thanks for listening to me rant the last few months.

So glad to hear that you are happy dyachei and no longer hating going to work, you deserve it!!!

My rave: enjoying a nice quiet Friday night watching movies and relaxing on the couch under a warm blanket. 🙂
