Happy Birthday Lissa!!!!

Aww happy late birthday, Lissa!

I got to see my in-laws this weekend for the first time since the wedding. The whole time, my father-in-law kept saying things to me and adding Mrs. (Name) at the end. My mother-in-law was like, "Hey we've been married for 28 years and you never said that to me!" Love them!

After my phone interview yesterday, now I'm going up to the practice at 10:30 this morning for shadowing/an interview! I guess the vet is going away tomorrow until Sunday, but wanted to meet with me asap. Wish me luck!

Yay! Good luck!! :luck:

Interview was awesome! I mostly just shadowed to see how everything works there and the vet and I chatted a little bit about my experience. It sounded really positive though, so I'm really hoping I get it. Yay eyeballs! So much more interesting than GP.

Good Luck!! I will be :xf: for you!! 😀

The only thing I feel kind of bad about is that I didn't mention the vet school thing... But I figure I have no clue whether or not I'm going to get in this year, so why put myself at risk for not getting the job if I might not even be leaving anytime soon. That's reasonable, right?

I think that's ok.

Sounds good to me. You will still be there for almost an entire year. Just be prepared to tell them sometime soon because come interview time, you are going to want their support.

So, I found out today that I am not only exempt from having to pay the city council tax, but that because I am a student I don't have to pay for water or sewage either... I love saving money, it makes me happy. 🙂

I actually just went through this. I was looking for another tech job, and in all of my interviews they asked me when I was planning on applying to veterinary school. I spoke with the veterinarians at my work about it after my first interviewer asked me this question and I awkwardly fumbled my way through it because I didn't want them to not hire me because of it, and said something like "Oh, I am not sure.. maybe this year, maybe not...". The veterinarians at my work encouraged me to be honest about applying to veterinary school this year at my future interviews. They said since they all went through the process it is not like a normal job where they would have no idea about the application process and you can come into work one day and say "oh hey, I got accepted to vet school so I'll be leaving in a few months". The vets at my work agreed they would feel betrayed by someone who lied about that and said it could tarnish future relationships with that clinic. Which makes sense, because if you get in to school and have to leave, they could have been spending these last few months training someone who would stay much longer. So I guess it is up to you, but I was still offered jobs even with them knowing I was applying (2 out of 5 - and the 3 that did not hire me all said it was due to me not being able to commit long-term, so it will affect their decision unfortunately). Plus I didn't have to feel guilty or secretive about it.

I was planning on telling them if it came up, but then there really was no interviewing part, I really just shadowed. I figured I would be asked what my plans were since I mentioned this was my last year of undergrad, but no one asked. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to let them know before they hire me.

I don't think there is an obligation to tell them if they don't ask. But if they do ask, I would talk about my plans.

I emailed one of my best friends from college who I haven't seen or actually spoken to in over a year about Samson. Three minutes later she called me to reassure me. 😍 her for taking time out of studying for vet school to spend 30 minutes calming me down.

My last ELOR has been submitted!! Yaaaay 😍 😀 :xf:: :luck: so excited!

Snazzy!

There's a fantastic rescue that is going to take Samson! I know it means I'll likely never see him again but it's better than him being put down and the rescue has such stringent requirements for adoption that he'll be getting a good home in the end.

This makes me sad and happy at the same time. Sad because I so wish I could take him for you. Even just to foster him until you got your own place. But happy that he won't be put to sleep and will find a good home.

I'm holding onto some stupid small little hope that maybe I can adopt him from the rescue when the time comes. He still needs a lot of work so he'll be in foster for a while and the rescue is selective so that's even more time. The behavior person at my shelter isn't letting my adopt Sam to surrender to the rescue because if I do that I wouldn't be able to adopt him but if he goes through our shelter I still could. It's stupid to wish for but I'll be in a different place in my life when he's ready to go and it might work.

GREAT news! And I'll keep hope that in the end that 'good home' turns out to be you at some point. :luck:

My sister gave me her home fetal doppler. I love it. I love finding the baby's heartbeat and just listening to it.

Oh awesome! Yay for babies!

OMG congrats Lissa! 😀 And that's so cool that you can listen to the heartbeat.

I know I said I had no interest in touching your belly...but that sounds kinda cool. haha.

I saw an Iphone ultrasound probe on pinterest. Looked pretty awesome, except for the 8K pricetag!

I showed that us probe to Jackie the other day lol. When the baby gets a little higher in my abdomen, I will let you listen. I have to practically take my pants off to listen to it now

The farmers' market was at my school today, so I decided to get a vegetable for dinner tonight. I got carnival squash. I've never had carnival squash before, ever.

Then I made this:

It's very fall (the chicken has maple syrup and apple cider in it) and very delicious. 😀 And I'm really proud of it because I basically made up the chicken recipe myself.

Kuromi, my former feral cat turned indoor ball of love and black fluff, had a check up at school today. The vet gave her a clean bill of health, bar the roundworms which I already knew about, and said I'm doing the right thing about the worms, just keep doing it and be patient. 🙂

Cincinatti Reds pitcher Homer Bailey just threw a no hitter against the Pirates at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Moments like this are one of the main reasons I love the game of baseball. Way to go, Homer! 👍

A glass of red wine and The Princess Bride movie to watch. Enough said.

Last night when I came home to park someone was taking up half a parking spot and the only choice was to park next to them so I did. This is what I woke up to this morning on my windshield

Wow... Sounds like something I'd write! Promise it wasn't me, though!

Yep me too, thats why I couldn't even get angry about it. My favorite part is the heart lol. I wish I knew who it was, I'd give them a high five. This girl and I could be good friends.

Haha amazing! As a fellow truck driver, I feel your pain re: trying to park. I always have to shake my head when someone in like, a Honda Civic is parked all over the place. If I can park my giant truck between the two lines, SURELY you can get your little car in there no problem.

This is why I never leave notes on ****tily parked cars. 95% of the time they weren't the one who started the problem, there was someone else parked horribly that they had to work around. And I've gotten (less entertaining) notes and felt bad before. 🙁

Yeah.... I didn't feel bad bc there are tons of parking spots and people are just too effing lazy to walk more than 5 feet to their front doors 🙄 (Like me when I took the crappy parking spot last night  )

Poofs!

I'm actually doing really well so far this year! It's amazing the difference between last year and this year. I don't know if it's that my anxiety is pretty well controlled with my medications or if I've finally figured out how to study for vet school or a combination of both, but I'm pleasantly surprised.

Or sometimes, the stupidly parked person is just stupid.

Went to a festival last year. Preface: it had been rainy all day the worst downpour I've ever driven in, but was cleared up by the time the evening came around and my little honda had to park on a dirt/grass field.

So I find a nice safe spot up against a fence, right near the exit so I dont have to navigate muddy spots.
Leave the car, go drink beer and dance. Come back out a few hours later to this beautiful situation (yes, I had to draw a diagram)

Needless to say, I was NOT impressed.
