They kept trying to tell me I would be captivated if I was the one operating throughout the course, but given their years of training and lifestyle I'd rather not find out, anyway.

Couldn't agree more. 😍

Hey, Iatros, I felt the same way about surgery. Really loved floor work, the aggressiveness, and the beginning of cases (esp when I got to assist), but I felt bored in the middle of the case and wanted to go away. 😴

I think the aggressiveness is what I like most. My medicine attending even told me that I had an aggressive style and would fit in well with surgery (not sure if that is an insult or not  ).

Anyway, you think aggressiveness has a place in EM?

1. stop going to lecture

2. take SEVERAL study breaks while studying

3. survive 2nd year...i was so burnt out at that point with boards and all, good luck

I sometimes learn better by hearing, and some of the profs are entertaining, so it's not too bad to go to lecture. I took the whole summer off before this year in hopes of not burning out as early as I did last year (before Christmas). And yes, I do take many breaks, probably too many...

I think EM folks can be just as aggressive as surgeons, when it comes to management (tubing, interventions) and attitude, but yet the specialty is more like FM or something when it comes to teamwork and interacting with patients. In short, aggressive in a friendly way. 😀

OUr current dog just doesnt get along with other dogs. He doesnt like getting sniffed and does no sniffing (introducing) of himself. I have read one way to do this is to get a puppy. I am thinking about getting a shepherd/Rottie mix. Cute.

Most definitely. I am in neuro right now, the toughest section they have here. 10 weeks is a bit long too. 🙄

Everyone must be out having fun or stuck at work tonight. As for me, I studied til now, but just don't have the energy to go out and do something.

I liked neuro but it was a short stint. We were solely a consulting service so that made it pleasant.

I heard it's quite interesting, just really long. I think that's why everyone says it's extra difficult is because of the length. Not friendly for the ADD types at least. I found some non-ADDs to study in the lab with so that they can teach me and keep me on topic. Maybe if I hang around non-ADDs then I will actually be able to study for a length of time without breaking as often, therefore finishing earlier in the day. Ok, back to reality...it will never happen.

What are you doing this month that you have been able to post so much?

haha...I think I might be tired, but enjoying the time in the apt without my roommate.

IM on vacation until Monday.. plus since i am recovering from jet lag i have time to do bs.

Yeah im just trying to stay up for the next 1-2 hours.. then i can sleep until 7 or so tomorrow.

Oh I see. That would be a good reason to pad it up. I am busy watching some CSI show right now...only thing on tv at the time. I need to see more than just my bedroom and my study room, so I am enjoying my living room. Oh the simple excitement in life.

Not the neuro rotation...the neuro anatomy portion of the first two years.

Now I get what he meant. I was trying to figure it out. Hopefully I didn't understand it because my brain was fried and not because I was being blonde.

we got a new puppy. We will get him tomorrow after they fix him. ill post a pic then.

of course i work tomorrow. so it might be the day after.

Done studying for the night, but now I'm waiting for laundry to finish (which I almost forgot about, so it got started really late). Now I'll get 4.5 hrs of sleep if I'm lucky. At least I should have a little time to nap if (okay, when) needed tomorrow.

Sleep in lecture. 😀

good morning the jet lag fairy beat me this am at 520..

1 consult and 2 floor pages. That was my ortho experience last night. Now I'm all about having slowness every now and then. But it really sucks when your sleep schedule is fraked and you are awake all night and sleep during the day. I've gotten only 3 reductions in 2 weeks, and they were half ass reductions anyways. During the day, however, they've been poppin like crazy. This is very odd for the month of August.

BTW...still no white coats.
