Hi everyone,
So, I'm planning to apply this cycle but I have some concerns regarding ROLs.
I have 2 professors who know me well and agreed to write me a good letter.
My concern starts here: I'm currently working in surgery at the hospital so I interact with number of surgeons.
I'm really interested in cardiothoarcic, and all the surgeons know that cause I'm always in the heart aisle. Anyway, there's is heart surgeon who I think likes me probably because I show so much interest. One day, he let me scrub in a heart case and let me hold a heart. It was a significant moment for me and I really wanted a letter from him because it was very special for me. I asked he said he would be happy to. But, I haven't been in any heart cases recently, and he doesn't know me well besides the fact that I'm really interested in heart surgery. And, since letter submissions don't start til June Idk if he will remember me as well or have the same good impression?
There is another general surgeon who I work with. We were on-call the same night and spent 8 hours in the OR until 2 am. He asked me some questions about premed stuff and later on told me during surgery that I will do great because I'm attentive, pays attention, and is eager to help out with whatever I can in surgery unlike the other medical school wanna-be's, and told me to come back after I become a surgeon. I probably worked with him more than the heart surgeon.
The dilemma is this: Should I get a letter from the general surgeon who knows that I work hard and is interested? or the heart surgeon who knows I'm interested and probably likes me more than the general surgeon? Or should I just ask for both?
I have 2 letters from professors, 1 from work supervisor so far. I don't want too many letters so I'm having trouble what to do. Please help me out!!
