Regis University 2011 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got a call today around 2:30 letting me know I was accepted!

Congrats! I guess that means if I didn't get a call today I'm destined for the waiting list. Are you going to accept, or do you have other plans?

Thanks! I am not sure whether I am going to accept or not. I am still waiting to hear from three other schools... two of which are my top choices.

Don't give up hope!!! They told me at the interview that they accepted like 180 last year and ended up with around 75. I would think that means that if you are on the waitlist you have a pretty good shot.

anyone know if there is a discount for being regis interviewing student? i saw an email kara gave about hotels nearby but deleted it. any suggestions would be nice

Just got a acceptance call from Regis!!

I interviewed on 3/4 and got an call today (3/16) at about 2pm pacific time.

Holy crap!!! I just got the phone call from Regis offering me a spot in the Class of 2015! I am so excited and happy! I thought that I was going to be waitlisted there for sure. For those of you still waiting to hear back, don't give up hope!😀

Congrats! Looks like I will be on the waitlist boat alone for this interview cycle! lol

i also interviewed on 3/4, and yesterday i received an admissions invitation too. i missed the call, but a message was left. kind of ironic, i was in the middle of another interview. congrats to those who were accepted! good luck to those waiting!

I got an email telling me that I'm accepted to their school. Hooray! I'm not sure if I'm going to accept yet, because I still have two more upcoming interviews. How many of you who got accepted are for sure going to Regis?

Good luck everyone!

Me too. They didn't even call. I was waiting for the acceptance call to see what it feels like, cuz people have been bragging about how wonderful it felt to hear from them and how nicetouch the phone acceptance was. Oh well at least I am accepted phewww. I may decline the offer though, I like UNE COP so much more, just not a fan of the weather in Maine.

Congrats! I'm very happy for you! I hope you didn't take my post about getting accepted as me bragging about it. I was simply shocked to get a phone call of acceptance. I could have swore that I was going to be wait listed. 🙂

Sorry I guess I wasn't being clear about the phone thing. I heard people say that the phone acceptance was a nice touch and how wonderful they felt. I wanna know what it feels like too lol. But they sure how to make me feel depressed. Cuz I emailed them late Wednesday night to see if I was waitlisted, and didn't get any response lol. I was so irritated for 2 days; I guessed they wanted me to be surprised. My heart is set with UNE, but still the wait was killing me. lol. Congrats on your acceptance again. You will put down the deposit soon huh?

I probably will, just to hold a spot. I still have two more interviews at the end of this month. I just want to make sure I have somewhere to go in the fall. It's nice that Regis only asks for a $350 deposit.

Good luck! Yeah that's true.UNE's deposit is 2 payments of 1000. So $2000 is a lot to lose.

I interviewed on 3/10 and havent hesrd anything. Has anyone heard that interviewed than or after.

I'm in the same boat as you. I did not hear anything from the school either. Hope its not bad news :scared:

There was an interview conducted on 03/10? That was only 6 days after my interview cycle, which was on 03/04. Huh, they conducted interviews 2 weeks in a role? I got my acceptance email last Friday, and since you two did your interview a week after, I guess you may hear back this Friday?

hey guys i have my interview the veerry last day which is 4/1. idk if they will even be accepting people but im still going. I was wondering if anyone else was scared about it being candidate. My ? is do people graduating from candidate schools get to take the license exam? b/ i read somewhere tht in order to take it one has to get a pharmD from an accredited school.
also anyone else with the 4/1 interview date??!!

I'm not worried about this at all. A school cannot become fully accredited until it graduates their first class of students. Once the first class graduates, the school will receive full accreditation and, yes, even the first class can take the NAPLEX. Don't be nervous about the interview process. Everyone at Regis was extremely nice. The multiple mini interviews were very relaxed. Good luck!

Yea I was surprised how close both the interviews were. Hopefully, we here back today.. because today marks the 2 weeks.😕... If not, then I already know where I stand 🙁

Good luck! There were a few people from cycle one turning down their acceptance. My friend and I are more than likely will turn it down also. According to the staff, last year only 1/3 of the accepted students actually decided to attend. So they would offer a lot more acceptance than the actual seats available! Hang tight.

Haha, it was nice talking to you all. But Regis just asked me to take a class in Religious Study and one class in Philosophy after accepting me. Don't they know that it's too late to register for any classes in the Spring and due to budget cut, summer school is almost a no-go? Oh well I am heading to Maine then!
Good luck to you all!

LOL! I just got the same e-mail about which classes I would need before starting in August. I've already taken a religious studies class, but they are saying I need to take a Philosophy and an Intro to Sociology class. I've taken a boat-load of classes, so I'm hoping some more of my credits will transfer over and eliminate these. I'm going to call them tomorrow to see what we can do. My summer is already full. :xf:

Yeah. Good luck with everything though. I think it's a pain for them to let us know that we are conditionally accepted after we were officially accepted. I think those classes are the required classes so we have to fulfill them no matter what. I was on the fence about going to Regis, so now no more headaches, plus it will open a spot for someone! 🙂. I only have to take CPR for the other school.

Hey guys, congratulations to all of you who have been accepted to a pharm school thus far! I wish you all the best of luck in your endeavors! I was wondering if anyone who had an interview on 3/17 has heard anything yet, although, it seems like the average wait time is about 12 to 14 days. I am keeping my fingers crossed! :xf:

WTH, I'll be damned! it seems like this school has interview every single week, and they said during our interview on March 04th that they already accepted 75/77 people. What are they doing? This is very weird indeed. Although many people decline their offers, they should just slow down, and what's up with people in the school not willing to step up to become Dean. They have to interview other people from different states for the Dean position?

I am not sure, but I do know that the last interview that they are supposed to be conducting for this cycle is supposed to be on April 1st, So I suppose that that means that they are quick about deciding who the accept and do not accept. I believe this also means, as mentioned by other members previously that the must let in a good amount of people in order to ensure that people will be granted acceptance upon other's declination of offered acceptance. That being said, I don't know about the dean situation, but I do really like the school!

Does anyone know specifically the type of philosphy or religous class they are wanting? I've been accepted but have read they are requesting additional courses... Anyone have any idea?

I DOO!!!! I'm so nervous about it htough

They seem to be not too picky on the philosophy and religion class.

I was signed up for intro to philosophy and a comparative religion class (also was in the philosophy category) and was told both of these were acceptable classes.

You might contact them with about the particular class you want to take just to be sure it will work.

me too! super nervous abt the mini interviews but check out some of the earlier threads some have talked abt topics of questions etc...helpful! but its daunting to think of making 9 first impressions lol...if u find out any info or any ? topics please let me knw n ill do the same!

The "mini" interviews were actually one of the better experiences I've had thus far--it was kind of fun. A number of topics were addressed but a few I had included: 1)You and your friend have planned a trip to Europe for a long time. You get to the airport and realize your passport is expired. What do you do? 2) You are a board member for some volunteer charity and a number of members have left citing inexperience of other members or lack of participation, how would you encourage the remaining members? 3) In hurricane Katrina a medical team (nurses and doctor) was caring for patients that were unable to leave the facility. At some point during the storm the team was ordered to evacuate--they didn't. They stayed as long as they could and when they were forced to leave, without their patients, they administered a lethal dose of medication to their patients before doing so. Discuss the ethical dilemmas presented in this situation. 4) What is the most recent book you've read, and what did you like about it?

Just checking in. Anyone hear anything back yet from the 3/17 interview? Getting close to 2 weeks. Any good news yet?

Hey! I am in the same boat you are! I heard from a dude that I met at that interview today, and he got a call this morning! I am keeping my fingers crossed! :xf: Where are you from?

I'm from San Diego. Did you get a postcard in the mail yesterday from Regis? Got me excited at first but I guess it's just a postcard. Let me know if you hear anything. Good luck!

Hey since it seems like some people are still interviewing on 4/1... Shouldn't you remove this to be fair to the previous interviewees?

Anyways I was on the 3/17 interview date and I got the postcard yesterday too! I'm from n. Cali

I interviewed on 3/17 also and have not heard anything, I'm so nervous, I just want to know :scared: I don't think I can sleep now knowing people from our cycle are getting calls already. Please let me know if anyone hears anything. I got the postcard too. :xf:

I understand your thoughts, but here were mine when I posted that. First, if you go under the "interview feedback" tab at the top of the page you will see that people "freely" post interview questions that were addressed during their interviews (including the 2011 cycle). There is no post for Regis, I think because of the program's recency, but the same logic holds...I've just placed it in plain sight. Next, every candidate goes into the interview with more or less background information than the others, so there is no real fairness to the process, so to speak. Last, whether or not I'm offered a spot at this time has no bearing on the candidates that interview after me; unless, that is, I'm placed on the waiting list. Considering this, I feel that the post I made was more than fair. If, however, you still feel passionate about 4/1 candidates having an unfair advantage because of what I wrote, let me know and I'll be more than happy to address it.

I got a call from Dr. Luckey today, around 2 PM, but I can't be sure what it was about. I was in class when my phone started ringing so I tried to silence it, but I hung up on him instead. I tried calling back but there was no answer. What I do know is that acceptance/denials/etc. are supposed to be sent out on Thursday (that's what I was told from admissions).

Hey guys! I am from Az, and I am glad to hear I am not the only one stressing out over this, lol! I got the post card too, which was nice! I also know that if you get a phone call, you are in! so, congratulations to all who have received the phone call thus far! I know you are also correct about thursday being the final day to hear anything for that interview date (3/17), so I wish us all luck, and I really sincerely hope we all get in! :xf: 🙂

I wouldn't worry too much.

Knowing the questions provides very little advantage, if any at all.

They're more interested in how you say it and how you justify what you say.

An unprepared yet genuine answer will get you further than a scripted response that addresses what you think they want to hear.

They'll easily see through BS.

Anyone who has yet to interview should consider skipping out on practicing responses. Just stay relaxed and be yourself. Let your personality and character guide your answers. They've heard the "standard" responses hundreds of times. Playing to the crowd and feeding them the "standard" line doesn't tell them anything about the person you are, something they are really looking to find out. At the level of the interview everyone is scholastically qualified to be admitted. They're looking for more than a GPA and PCAT scores.

Good luck to all who are on deck.

More than likely it's good news, cuz people from my cycle got phone calls Monday-Tuesday around that time too. I didn't receive any phone calls, but got the acceptance email on Friday. Be very happy for the acceptance for one day, and then try to look into summer classes, because they tend to change your acceptance to conditional acceptance and ask you to take Religious studies and Philosophy classes (if you haven't taken any) before school starts in August. I know a few people including myself being asked to do this. This is one of the reasons my friend and I are declining their acceptance @Regis. I am pretty biased though cuz I am leaning forward UNE. The P1 who wrote me the postcard note said that you can get these classes fulfilled online through Georgia over the summer, South Lake Tahoe college. Also, Regis also gives you the option to take them over the summer. Good luck!!!

Regis will take online courses as well.

I knew about the Dean situation, because one guy in my group actually asked one of the faculty while we were in the lab room. He didn't really want to address the issue. He said that the formal Dean missed teaching too much, he wanted to step down to teach (Kidda sketch), and the interim Dean feels like being Dean is not for her. Therefore, they are conducting interview for the Dean position. There are people from around the States flying to try and get the job, but so far they haven't found a GOOD FIT. 😳
Mr. GOOD CAT: Do you have any ideas about the Dean situation? Would you mind clarifying the info for people coming for class of 2015?

Wish I could give you some information but I really don't have much. I know they have interviewed but really haven't followed it anymore than that. I would like for them to fill the position but at the same time I don't want them to be regretful six months down the road. I was skeptical of the last Deans departure but I'm pretty sure he ended up at the other TBL program so I can't just dismiss the reasoning that I heard (about wanting to teach again). To be honest, I'm not that concerned about the Dean situation.

The other TBL program? You mean he moved to CA to teach at Northstate (cuz it's the only other school using TBL)? Interesting, after hearing about him stepping down to teach, I thought he was still with Regis teaching pharm.D. It's a bit skeptical that the Dean stepped down and no one steps up to fill the position, but I agree that it won't be a big deal for the accreditation process. There has NOT been any pharm.D school with candidates status not granted full-accreditation. I was just a bit bumped out after hearing how nice and organized Regis was (bad personal experience during and after the interview lol). Let's just hope for the best; besides, they need a new Dean to approve more rotation sites out of the States besides Ethiopia and Mexico right! The school I am going to has rotation site in Thailand and an Aids clinic in Ghana. It's amazing what pharmacy schools offer nowadays to attract more students.
