GIPH is housed by itself as an institute. Because its an interdisciplinary program, faculty from Wagner, Stern, Social Work, Medicine, Dental etc. all serve as faculty. It seems and feels like a great approach to studying public health...

DING DING DING! Which is why the program is very notable and a worthy choice for an MPH.

Yes, I'm very surprised I didn't see more discussion of NYU of these threads.

I was also accepted to NYU and I'm highly considering the program. It's a little scary that there isn't much information on the program but it looks like a good opportunity plus I really like the focus on global health and it was recently fully accredited. Have you heard anything about financial aid?
I've been following the blog for awhile, but never commented because no one seemed to have applied to the same schools or concentration as me (Public Health Nutrition). NYU is one of my top choice schools and I know the GIPH will only be in its second year next year, but the MPH has been around for quite some time. I'm pretty sure the only major difference is that it is now housed in its own school and you can access courses in many other different NYU graduate schools, which in my mind is a great thing! I wish I could get out there and visit the school in person, but its just not a possibility for me.

Anyway, not sure about all financial aid, but I was awarded the NYU MPH Scholarship in my acceptance letter.

Since I haven't posted here are my stats:

UGPA: 3.45
Major/Minor: Health Science
GRE (including date taken): V158, Q153 W4.5
Experience/Research (please, be brief): clinical internship as a Physical Therapy Aide at top rehab hospital, 4 month internship in Tanzania teaching HIV/AIDS and nutrition, capstone project developing and implementing a 4 week nutrition/physical activity workshop for middle school students, current AmeriCorps member at state-wide food bank

Applied: NYU (Public Health Nutrition) (11/24), Tufts MPH/MS- Nutrition (MPH-Health Comm; MS-Food Policy) (11/24), Colorado School of Public Health (MPH-Nutrition), Berkeley (MPH-Nutrition) (SOPHAS admitted 11/6 mailed 11/28).
Accepted: NYU Public Health Nutrition (1/22), Tufts MPH (12/22)

Glad these posts on NYU have generated some interest! How much did you receive for the NYU MPH scholarship? I didn't see anything about that in my acceptance letter. The cost of NYU/living in NYC is slightly terrifying to say the least.

Got an email from GW (strange for a Sunday) with my official admission letter and a letter saying I am being considered or a merit scholarship and will know in March if I get one.

Same here, except they said that if I'm eligible for a scholarship, I'll have a notification letter in my official packet.

NYU offered me $9000 a year. Better then nothing, but doesn't really put a dent in the true cost of NYU including room and board. The cost of living is really horrifying, but I have to assume that would be if you lived in the village or anywhere in Manhattan. Living in an outer borough has to make that estimate lower...I hope!

Has anyone who was accepted to Yale received anything via snail mail? I was accepted 1/31 via email, but haven't gotten anything else.

I got that request over 4 weeks ago, responded the next day, and have heard nothing since. Don't hold your breath.

I just got a message from BU saying they received my additional info and will try and get back to me within 2 weeks.

My app was mailed 12/19 and sent for review 1/5 at BU and I haven't heard anything since - no request for extra info!? Should I be worried? I know everyone says 8 weeks...

I'm in the same situation, my app was received by BU 1/9 and haven't gotten a request for extra info or anything. 😕

My app was sent for review in early December, so you might have another month before you get the additional info request. Seems 8 weeks is a pretty optimistic estimate.

I sent mine in December and was admitted in mid-January, about 1 month after initial submission. There was no request for additional information. I was admitted w/ a merit scholarship. Not receiving the request may not mean anything - if nothing else, it could mean your app is complete as expected.

Just received a call from UW's COPHP program telling me I've been accepted! She said I will receive an email with more information soon. I'm so excited, this is my top choice!

Just got an email w acceptance to BU, with merit. The amount and details to be sent out by mail.

Has anyone heard from the Berkeley MPH in HPM by any chance? I've heard they started to send out some notices, but their website says they don't start notifying until mid Feb through March?

Also, looks people are slowly starting to hear from UW, which is nice! I applied to the MHA, but no one on the MHA thread has heard so I figured I check over here.

Do you mind my asking when your app was verified by SOPHAS? The expected timeframe gwu gave me on my confirmation email has come and gone by a few weeks now.

Got a mail from UNC Maternal and Child Health MPH program inviting me for an interview. Well, as an International student that will be a challenge so I mailed back and they said they'll consider a phone or skype interview. Hope that works out.

Congrats on the scholarship!

I know living expenses are shocking at first, but if you're not opposed to living in one of the other boroughs it becomes more manageable. I live in a nice 2 bedroom brownstone 3 blocks away from the C train in Brooklyn and my roommate and I only pay $750 a month (including utilities)...

$9,000 is better than nothing but really doesn't put a dent in the actual cost of NYU, I agree. Looks like I'm about to take on some huge financial aid debt. I'm hoping Columbia sends out decisions soon.

Just accepted to BU MPH Epi with merit (details in snail mail)

I went to undergrad in NYC and have lived in the city for several years. It may seem scary, but the cost of living in the city is definitely manageable. If you are willing to live in an outer borough and learn about all the cheap places to get food, do laundry, etc, you can make it through. Yes, you will probably live in a tiny apartment, but it's totally worth it to live in NYC.

So I've been accepted to UNC, but I was wondering how it works as far as accepting the offer, since I'm still waiting to hear back from other schools. It doesn't seem like there is a financial commitment, so should I just accept and then if I decide to go somewhere else turn it down? However there also doesn't seem to be a time limit by which I need to respond... so should I just stay in limbo until I hear back from others? Thanks for the help!

Hi all I was here the last MHA cycle, but was not successful in getting an admit. But this time have been lucky, except for the work experience everthing else remains the same...i mean my stats.....

Time to be a Bruin! 🙂 😱

Found out I was accepted to UCLA Fielding SPH Community Health Sciences (CHS) Dept via e-mail today (2/11) with $10,000 University Fellowship for the first year.

I still need to get the official acceptance from the graduate division, but I don't expect a different answer.

UCLA was my #1, so.... 😍:highfive::biglove:

Congratulations!

I received an accidental awards email a few days ago that was meant for admits to your Dept. Shortly after, I received an apology and was told that they are still working on the Epi Dept awards and that they will roll out in the next two weeks. Hopefully that means I am in line for a fellowship too :xf:

My app was verified on 10/18/12 and mailed on 10/25. However, GWU sent me an email in mid-December saying that my app was incomplete. I called them, and they realized it was a mistake, which they fixed, but I was very upset because all that time I was waiting knowing that they're reviewing it. So, it actually took me longer than their time frame to receive a decision. I'm glad it turned out well though, and my app was in before the priority deadline.

Since you received a confirmation email, I assume they have everything. So, maybe give them a little more time.

Has anyone heard from GW's health policy program yet? I recieved an email on 1/24 saying my GRE scores weren't recieved (even though ETS confirmed they were sent...) and I emailed GW twice with no response 🙁( did anyone received a 'completed application' email from them first before an admissions email?? I'm pretty nervous since I did think I was a good candidate for the program and school, hope the delay doesn't mean anything..

Hey - I received a confirmation email from them on 1/28. Still no word on a decision. Did you resend your GRE scores? I know it's a pain, and more money spent, but may be your safest bet. Good luck!

I attend UCF as an undergrad and the master's program is a very strong program. The program is also accredited through CHAME which is great! Orlando is great and I love the campus! 🙂

I think you have to send your GRE scores directly to GW.

I applied to the GW Health Policy program. My SOPHAS was mailed on 1/16, I received and confirmation from GW on 1/17, and I was accepted on 1/30.

I would double check the code you sent your scores to against 5268, the GW SPH code (ETS has a log of score recipients).

Realized it was sent to the generic GWU code not the specific PH one, thanks!! Hopefully this hasn't delayed my application too much 🙁

Anyone else hear from HSPH about financial aid? I got an email asking me to fix an error in my financial aid application. Seems like we should be hearing soon. As far as UCB, I know they go through PhD applicants first which explains why no one has heard yet. This is nail-biting anxiety. Congrats to those who have heard back.

Accepted to Brown's MPH program today! I'm very excited since this is my first acceptance letter! They said that I'll be receiving financial assistance from the program. But I won't know the exact amount until they send me another letter. To those of you who also applied to Brown, hope you all get some good news soon!
