I just got flat-out rejected by Arizona. Post-Interview. I wasn't even put on the waiting-list. I interviewed in early Sept too. I wasn't that surprised since I didn't do too well on the interview, plus the other applicants at the interview all had better stats or were WICHE. The interview counts for alot at AZ.

This is my first rejection of probably many more to come. Funny thing is that I'm not depressed or panicking at all. I kinda of expected this - like someone on death-row about to get the lethal injection. Although I am pissed off for wasting all that time and money.

I don't think its a waste of money. The more interviews you go to the more experience you get and learn from them. So in the interviews to come you will have more confidence and know how to handle yourself differently well thats if you learned from the mistakes that you probably thought you made. So i wouldn't call it a loss.

Case and UNLV so far. Yes, I got the infamous UNLV email with the subject title, 'REJECTION.'

UOP says "re-review in Decem.," which most likely means a reject. letter in late Dec./January.

Colorado emailed me with this:

Dear Applicant:
We have received your application to the University Of Colorado School Of Dentistry.
Initial review of your application indicates you may not be competitive for this application cycle. If we are able to give your application serious consideration for an available position in the 2006 entering class, we will request an application processing fee along with supplemental information.
We will be in contact with you regarding your status as the admission cycle progresses sometime after the first of the year. If you have questions or need assistance, please feel free to write or call our office at 303-724-7122.
Again, we appreciate your interest in the University Of Colorado School Of Dentistry.

This, I take it, equals REJECTION.

I applied to an additional 13 schools on top of the schools listed above, while eliminating myself from two of those schools. This means 11 rejection letters to look forward to. Looks like a third DAT retake and additional classes are in the foreseeable future. I'm so stupid. 👍

I got the exact same thing when I got back home after my interview at Oklahoma. I would still go if (big if) they decide to accept me for an interview then.

And the shaft from Arizona arrived today. I really don't think I could have done much to improve my numbers. I think it was all the interview. I didn't enjoy that experiece and I guess they didn't either. Oh well, it was very high up on my list, but I'll get over it. There, I'm over it.

I really don't understand it... I have very competitive qualifications: I lived abroad for 4 years, speak 2 languages, work as a dental assistant etc.. It feels like such a slap in the face, really. I can understand being rejected post-interview/post Dec. 1st but to be cut without ever having been given a chance feels awful.

OH well, not much to do now except forget about it and keep moving forward, I guess.

Got a rejection "form letter" with no real info from Case within a week of them receiving my application. Guess I didn't make the "numbers cut", although I have made it at Pitt, BU and Columbia!

I don't think there is anything logical about this process, at least from our end. Every school has their own batch of priorities and rules....just keep moving forward!

I think they probably consider other aspects of your application also, besides your stats, which are pretty good esp. your dat scores

WICHE represents a number of states without dental schools. While Utah and Idaho don't have schools, they have a deal with Creighton that works out well.

Well, if anything, getting "the letter" helps you be humble. Getting a shaft (sideways and un-lubed) helps bring you down to earth. Now we'll appreciate those schools that appreciate us even more.

Hey, guys....Don't be too discouraged. Don't lose your hope.
I was in a similar situation with UNC, not with UOP.
I called UNC during the mid-Sep asking them whether I was invited for an interview. The lady told me that "Your application has been reviewed, but you are not invited for an October 1st interview date. Your file is back to the pool and you will be re-considered for a November interview date." When I heard this I thought either there's something wrong with UNC or it's the end of my world. However, I received a call from UNC during the mid-Oct and informed that I was invited for a November 5th interview date.
I hope that my story encourages you guys~~!!!!

You being cut, is depressing me. How the hell am I even close to being competitive if you're cut?! I think I should go up into the mountains and become a monk.

OK, so I'm in the exact same boat as Raj, Oldboy, docminster, and mochafreak. Its nice to no other guys are in the same spot. Oh wait, no its not. We're all pretty much skrewed on this one, I think. Who the hell ARE they interviewing, anyway?

How does that old frase go again? Oh yeah, "Its not about what you know, but who you know." I always forget to kiss a$$. That's my problem.

I have a 22/22/22 too with couple of 25's and 24's everything above 20. I called them and they said I have a good chance, but nothing received so far.

Here's one for youse guys to laugh at--I received a rejection letter in the mail from Case in September (they didn't have my DAT yet)...

Called them in October, after taking the DAT, and asked them why I was denied admission without the scores.


Punchline: they mixed my file with somebody else's (someone with the same last name--chances of that in US are 1 in 300000000!).


Anyway, I got an interview invite from them a few weeks ago!

Should I go? Would you?

not much of a reason. My scores are decent. I guess there are just to many excillent applicants out there.

The funny thing, in the rejection letter they said, "We wish you the best of luck in your future career decisions"...
Kind of like " Well, you're not good enough to be a dentist so good luck with whatever you decide to do..." Oh well, I'm sure it's for the best.

Anyone get rejection from Arizona without getting an interview. I haven't heard one way or the other and my secondary was in 6 weeks ago.

My mom just told me I got rejected from UPENN. She said the letter came on Saturday, but she knew I was going to NY for the weekend and didn't want to tell me. She also added, "you're not smart enough to go to an Ivy League." Ouch.
