Dr. JT, I thought your story was awesome! I think, unfortunately, that many of us would consider ourselves lucky if we got just one decent offer- but thank you for reminding us that it ain't over til it's over!
For those of you posting about the programs with spaces still in them after April 15th, here is a little clarification. These are graduate school openings in non-clinical programs:
"...'Graduate School Opening List.' This document contains a list of the programs in psychology that still have openings for students in the fall. Although there are no clinical or counseling doctoral programs and only a few nonclinical doctoral programs on the list, you may find other programs of interest to you." (Insider's Guide to Graduate Programs to Clinical and Counseling Psychology 2006/2007 Edition, p. 106).
A professor of mine suggested an experimental master's after I didn't get in last year because I don't have any research that's been published or presented. There are applicants on another thread talking about applying for research assistant positions at universities or medical schools in the interim of applying again, which could be a good move for some. Hope this helps!
Thank you for the clarification! I had never really looked at it previously, just been advised of the list's existence so wasn't positive about what it encompassed. I thought it odd that a clinical/counseling program would not have positions filled with someone, but who knows! Thanks, again--Good information to know.
