About how much can and HPSP'er expect to make (for simplicity sake let's say w/o the housing and food benefits) as a resident assuming no prior service?

Why would you ask this question excluding the housing and food allowances, these are the biggest perks.

you'd be a commissioned O-3 < 2 years of service. The base pay of which (currently) is $3540.30. the housing allowance (BAH) depends on where you live/rank, and whether you have dependents. For instance, BAH in San Diego w/o dependents for an O-3 is $2085 (not taxable). The food allowance is fixed at $223.04 (not taxable).

So assuming you lose ~20% of your base pay to taxes, SSN, etc, your take home pay is:

12*(0.80*$3540 + $2085 + $223.04)= $61,680 / yr

For comparison, that's equivalent to a $77K / year civilian salary (.80*77K = $61K).

Check the following site in few days as this site helped me few years ago as well: https://onestop.army.mil/ This site offers much more pay info.than BAH and will give you annual salary info based on input of your data.
