I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys-I really hope you guys get acceptances soon.

On a side note, I was accepted back in December with a 31 on the MCAT so you do not need to have a 33 or higher...

Hey Morriske, how are you? Everything settled in Chicago?

I have an MCAT of 36, overall GPA of 3.69, and BCPM GPA of 3.53. No acceptance yet. I hope this doesn't mean I did poorly on the interview. =(
I thought I applied to RFU because the UCs were too competitive... wow...

Seriously, nice MCATs guys...

😱Where else did you interview/apply? Seems shocking for someone of your caliber waiting on RFU?

Hey Morriske, how are you? Everything settled in Chicago?

I'm doing well-I'll be moving to Chicago at the end of July. I'm trying to figure out what parking is like at the Ravenswood Metra Station. Do you have any idea?

I was thinking, since there are a lot more people applying this year, wouldn't that mean there's going to be a lot of people reapplying next year? If so, won't that make, it more difficult to apply next year? Granted, there are going to be a lot of people turned away from the idea of medical school because the sheer numbers. Basically, I'm wondering when we'll see an equilibrium. Because, once that moment hits, I'm wondering if it would be in my best interest to apply THEN.

I am thinking about applying not this coming cycle, but the next. It gives me more time to take the MCAT, instead of rushing it now and applying late once again, and give me an overall fresh start.

What are your thoughts? The more time I spend out of school, the harder I believe it will be for me. That's why I applied to BMS (didn't apply to any other SMP's).

No email yet....

if people with 36 MCAT are not getting in, then my chances are low.

Applying early is a very important factor. Also, you definitely do not want to rush the MCAT. Make sure you take it when your comfortable with the material your test taking abilities.

Don't apply based on trends on applicants, apply on the basis of your confidence and application package. Heston, from everything I have seen, you have a solid application EXCEPT the MCAT score...just study for that and also hope that you get into the BMS program.

BTW-I didn't apply to the BMS program.

Word. I am going to apply for the manager position at KFC. I love their mashed potatoes.

Ok, that made me laugh.....A LOT.

well said...i don't think the upward trend of applicants is going to change anytime soon and if it does i don't think it is going to go down that much too quickly.

So, would you study for the MCAT if you got into BMS?

If the BMS program starts around August 8th, you could potentially take the exam a week or 2 after the start date. I had a few friends in the old BMS program (AP program) who did that.

So, I checked my email and it said 1 unread message. so i got excited and scared thinking it was RFU....to my surprise its junk mail! 😡😡😡

Same here, I think I should go mow the lawn..even though we just had it mowed yesterday...

My email from RFU:

"As of today, there hasn't been any action taken on your file in terms of an acceptance or rejection. Your file has been placed on a non-ranked waitlist. If you are accepted between now and orientation (August 8th), you will receive a phone call and an acceptance letter from the admissions office. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thank you,"

The waitlist exists!!!

when did this email come?

I usually go to the kitchen and see all the food I have to divert my attention.

I used to do that, but I gained to much weight lol.

NOW, I am running in the morning and working out a night to compensate for that extra baggage. Plus, I have a wedding to go to soon!

what is your MCAT score right now?

Well, I haven't taken any practice tests of late. Just studying. My last MCAT score, which was the actual test, was 10P, 10B, 7R, R writing.

Same boat man, same boat. I'm trying to be more active now, though. Playing basketball, softball, whatever to keep me from being overweight.

How many applicants are there this year, compared to last?
According to the New Year's Letter from the Dean of CMS, there were 9,197 applications for the class of 2011, a 27.8% increase from the year before.

I interviewed Dec. 5 and am STILL waiting for a response from them.

Damn, I don't feel so bad. Don't forget to add yourself to the list we have going on.

But my question is, is it NECESSARY to take the test. Let's say I do exceptionally well in the classes....

That might mean it is more difficult to get an interview, but not necessarily that post-interview chances are lower. Maybe the number of interviewees didn't change that much.

It's quite possible. With that in mind, I can atleast feel better about myself for getting an interview.

I am not too sure about that since this year they interviewed till beggining of May.. till much later in the cycle.. doesnt that translate to greater number of ppl interviewed and therefore more choice for them to choose from.. and making it a lil more difficult for us..

Hey guys,

I called for a status check yesterday and they told me an email will be sent in the next two days. Today I got the following:

You should be receiving a letter regarding your status in the mail soon. The letter was mailed to your "preferred address." If you do not receive a letter from us by next week, please call us and we will resend it.

Thank you,

CMS Admissions

I really do not know what it entails. My mcat score is not high as some of yours, I am very non-traditional, and my interview was in may. I expect a rejection but will keep you all posted. I know how crazy this process has been.

good luck to you all

Wow! I really think you got accepted! Good luck:luck:

they stole you from us! RFU stole you from MSU =)

I think I'd choose RFU anyday over the cost of MSU out of state. CONGRATS!

I didn't feel as exalted this year tho...maybe I have to be a reapplicant to feel that for my first acceptance.

:laugh::laugh: Thanks. I still kinda can't believe it.

But my question is, is it NECESSARY to take the test. Let's say I do exceptionally well in the classes....

I doubt it. If you rock the classes, i mean 3.5 GPA+, I would think you would be ok. But, doing well is easier said than done.

It sounds to me that a letter in the mail is a good thing...so far, I've only read of one person on sdn getting a rejection post-interview (via a letter), and all of the acceptances have come through the mail. How often are you guys calling for status updates? The last time I called was about two weeks ago, so I guess I'll call them again soon.

I know people hate it when we do this, but what are your stats?
