I dunno. We're not paying Barrett 12-13 million like we are Zambrano. Barrett's come through for us offensively, as well. I say keep him, Zambrano needs to get his groove back.

Barrett is hitting .241 right now AND he is only playing for his offense. I like Blanco's defense 100x better anyway.

i've just submitted myself to fate and let myself live on. At this point, I'm just assuming it's a rejection. I need to find a job. Even in that realm I get rejected all the time too.

No one loves me.... 🙁

Have you thought about applying to SGU? The average stats there are a 3.4 GPA and a 26 MCAT. It's non-US but it's an allopathic school with osteopathic stats so it's easier to get into.

i still havent received the "im on a nonranked waitlist" email or anything for that matter (i dont even know if a decision on my app has been made or not made). when i called they told me i would receive an email soon--that was about a week ago. and seeing that you kids have received yours and i havent received mine is making me very uneasy. not that i wasnt already uneasy.

rejected maybe?

Maybe your acceptance letter is on the way:luck:

Same here, Samosas. And I'd really like to hear something soon, so that if I'm offered a job, I can take it in good conscience.

I actually have. I'm really good at covering my bases. 🙂

Hey guys, I've been gone practically all weekend (minus sunday).

DVN, I respect you not drinking. If you wanna get a coke, that's fine.

Anyways, I'm off to bed. I have to wake up EARLY to play for church. Ugh. Too early.

G'night Heston.

I am trying to cut pop from diet as well  I want to eventually become one of those people who always has a water bottle on them. As of now, I only like flavored water though...

You might NEED to call or email them to ask if you are on the WL. It might be an informal WL.

been tryin but i cant get thru and if i do get thru, i get the same thing: u should get an email.

morgandi shall be getting a barrage of emails/phonecalls from me. is Ross still the dean of CMS?

also... whats up with 50 million new threads due to the beginning of 08 cycle. it reminds me of me like 12 months ago. sigh.

I know what you mean, we can send in a NEW AMCAS this Tuesday and AACOMAS this Monday. I wil be applying to osteopathic schools this year, what about you?

Also, Ross is still the dean. Usually, Ms. Lashley is pretty quick about emailing back, I wonder what is up?

I hate Sundays now.

I ran into a friend who is on a non-profit board that I served on whose wife is a graduate of CMS this morning.

He said that his wife got in during her first application cycle, and that she was one of the youngest people in her class. He also said that almost everyone took a year or two after undergrad to work or do research. So I'm not despairing too much right now - it's my first application cycle. I figure that I'll work for a couple of years, build my application, maybe take a few more undergraduate courses to pad my GPA a little bit, and then I'll reapply. At this point, I just want to know one way or another, so that I can move on with my life. I'm trying to keep this all in a very healthy perspective.

Besides, it was a big week - I had a job interview on Thursday for a lab at Wash U, and I scheduled three more for this coming week, and maybe one more is coming. Things will work out the way they're supposed to. </zen>

so anyone starting the new app?

Just reading my previous AMCAS through and adding in new activities. Fall 2008 here we come...

On a side note, I have all my stuff ready for my AACOMAS, hopefully one DO school says yes...

do schools are super-receptive to non-trads. with a masters under your belt, 30 mcat, and 4.0 during the grad classes; i see absolutely nothing but love in your future 😍 I say this through experience. I applied to only 3 do schools and was able to interview at all 3. submitted by aacomas not until oct verified in nov. When you do apply do i wouldn't suggest applying very broadly; just to the schools you KNOW that you would want to go.
the only one thing you may want to be ready for is when/if they ask if you applied before, if you say yes, they are going to ask you; no d.o. in the past 😕

If anyone cares to entertain this question....

I'm curious to know with all the re-applicants or people planning to re-apply did any of you guys apply to d.o. schools as well? Or wish that you had? Or maybe are planning to next cycle?

I entertain the thought of reapplying every so often, but not for more than a few seconds. I couldn't go through the mcat and applications all over again. Just kinda curious about your thoughts and how you approach the situation.

Thanks for the comments bigdog.

I plan on applying to: COMP, DMU, CCOM, PCOM, and NYCOM. I might add UMDNJ, KCUMB, KCOM, and MSU (even though tuition is ridiculous). I would happily go to any of those schools.

I am really worried about them asking about previous application cycles. I was going to tell them that I gained a true appreciation for osteopathic medicine after earning an MPH (preventive medicine and communication measures)....what do you think?

I know that was meant for Bigdog, but you explain that with a couple of experiences and it sounds like a sincere and a very much deserving applicant.

With that preventitive medicine in there...nice! Just tell them why you think prev. med. is so important. Every single school asked me why d.o.?
Also, if you want, you can say that the first time around applying you didn't even know about d.o. schools; or were just very unfamiliar with them. Then during the mph you learned quite a bit about them, researched them, and now its the thing for you!

Remember, DO's have high nonrefundable deposits. That's what kept me from attending COMP, my only acceptance and now a withdrawal.

i applied to DO schools this app but not that many so maybe that was my problem but i applied to MD schools broadly. next cycle- no idea.

Finally got some love from an SMP--most likely will be headed to MUOs Medical Science Program this fall. Still waiting on Tulane though...

okay we are now in June... with the way things are going and I havent heard anything back from CMS I am thinking its a rejection.. actually I think by now I am sure it is.. oh well...although I would really appreciate if I could any form of corespondence from them.. anyhows guys I wish you guys good luck for all those who have WL and to those who have gotten in...

I wouldn't count yourself out just yet. Did you ask for a status update? Most people are getting the WL AFTER they ask, so hopefully all hope is not lost.

Yes I had last week (Tuesday) and I havent heard anything back yet... am pretty sure if there was anyhting they would have gotten back to me by now..

Hmm. I dunno, those offices get so hectic this time of year. It might be an oversight. Has anyone been rejected Post-Inteview yet?

you'd think that they would inform all applicants once they have been placed on WL rather than wait until they call.

You would also think that adcoms would be honest and kind to us 🙄

But yeah, seems like kind of an odd way to inform people of thier WL status. Hopefully in the coming weeks we will have more information...

hopefully, there aren't a lot of people on the WL and more and more people withdraw.

I hope so too, a lot of people who were initially accepted most likely will get pulled off a WL for another school. I think I am going to call next week and ask how many people are on the WL--that is a fair question to ask right?

it is a fair question...the question is will you get a straight answer?

I hope you are right about the accepted people being pulled off a WL for other schools. as of right now, the WL movement thread tells me that WL movement is slow right now.

Good thing is that it is still early and that SDN represents a small population. Typically, RFU accepts a lot of Californians, so hopefully we see some of these Cali ppl get into a UC or another private school that they rather go to.

I have this gut wrenching feeling that RFU accepts high-number caliber applicants initially, then they end up balancing it out once the WL moves...

We need to find out when the next adcom meeting is..

Does anyone know anything about the criminal background check policy, once you're accepted?

I also called about my status last week , and was told that I'd get an e-mail. I got an e-mail update about my BMS application last Friday, but nothing about my M.D. application. The e-mail said that their office would be closed today (June 4) for graduation. So I don't know if anyone will be getting updates today.

Hey, those of you that applied to SGU, did you get a packet of information in the mail? I think that's the first time a school has done that for me.....

No news on the BMS program....

That could vary quite a bit based on the randomness of opening spots. Do you think that as soon as a spot opens, they meet, or do you think that they'll meet a given time and discuss the hopefully pile of open spots that have accumulated since the last time they met?

SGU will send you a huge information packet. IIRC, Albany and Univ. of Pitt do something similar (if you applied there).

If I remember your stats correctly, you shouldn't have a problem getting accepted to SGU - you had a 29 MCAT and ~3.5-3.6 GPA, right?

However, don't apply to August since it's full. If you're going to apply, apply to January 2008 or August 2008. Assuming you're a strong applicant, you should have an interview and admission decision (acceptance) within two months.

More like a 27, but I'm ridiculously motivated to work overseas. Hopefully they'll like that. I did apply to the January 08 term. How does that work out? Do they have three different sets of classes?

I don't think they care about overseas work. The real, unstated purpose of SGU is to accept and educate those that just barely missed out on getting into US schools. That's why their stats and attrition rate are so much better than all the other Caribbean med schools.

They have two classes - August and January. The big advantage to the January class is that you'll have your Step 1 done in time for transfer applications to US schools. Typically, 5% - 7% transfer to a US school. However, this is a big change from about 15 years ago where up to 25% of SGU students were transferring into US schools.

SGU has two different classes. August and Jan. If you attend the Jan session, you will have a month or two longer for your boards, can't remember. Also, as of now, you can STILL apply for the winter class, so hopefully they will contact you soon. You should give them a call, they are really nice.

I was going to apply to SGU, but decided to take my chances with Osteopathic schools, if I don't get in there, then I will apply to Ross and SGU...

I have a feeling they will just meet at the end of the month and make a ranked WL or meet about the open spots. It is sooo unpredictable..

Hey guys, I was out-of-town at the Milwakee Mile Indy car race. So I got back yesturday to a ton of mail, but NO DICE. Still no word.
JV gives me hope since we have the same exact MCAT breakdown so maybe that means i have a chance. Well good luck to all.

It is a more than fair question to ask. Unfortunately with this unranked business we won't even know if we are on the top or bottom or what. At MCW i know that i'm on the bottom half of the waitlist; so basically I'm not going there. Wish I knew something about RFU.

I would think that the adcom is busy and just meets on scheduled dates.
My guess is that they will meet sometime in June, and rank X number of people; about however many spots they expect to open up. And then as spots open up offers will be given. Its just too bad they don't even inform an applicant of where they sad. Actually, i think its bs.
