Since were all pretty much in the same boat I was wondering if you guys have started filling out FAFSA forms even though we havent gotten in yet...I just started mine in hopes of getting in but I was lucky enough to get into the pharm masters program at Tulane so that kickstarted it more than anything. Hope Im not too late filing for financial aid.

I did the same. I was going to go to Tulane Pharm, but withdrew. Hopefully RFU just accepts us out of pity 😉

Please....Accept Me....

I am gonna give it another two three weeks before I start that stuff.

I have been following this thread since it started. I interviewed the first week of January. I thought for sure I would be accepted immediately b/c my interview went extremely well. Or so I thought...Not a word from CMS. I called for a status check in March--"no decision has been made..." End of April I sent a LOI, certified to Dean Ross, cc to everyone in the admissions office(Lolita, Morgandi, Victor) I wanted to make sure someone read it. A couple days later I received an email from Dean Ross thanking me for the letter. He also said I was a competetive candidate and that the adcom would continue to review my file.

I received my acceptance May 29th(i would have posted sooner but I was without internet) dated May 21st, postmarked May 24th.
I had already finished my AMCAS for next cycle, ordered the MSAR almost given up hope for this year. I applied to 13 schools-- only 1 interview. Just like everyone says that's all you need.

Good luck to everyone waiting. I hope you all get in.

Dean Ross, get ready for 20 certified LOI's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

also congrats lolliepop. thats awesome.

I'm just worried about how 'good' my LOI was. is it good/compelling enough to send to the dean? it seems that it would be a hit or miss. love it, you're in. hate it, you're f*d. he doesn't care about it, you're "unranked" lol
Well I did fax it to him... if that works or not who knows. I get so tired thinking about these things *sigh*

I might just write a new one. (With a picture of me begging).

What does it mean to be certified to Dean Ross? I sent my LOI to Dean Ross. It said: Dr. Dean Ross, RFU..blah blah blah on the front of the envelope.

Should I send another one? What should I do guys?

She/He sent it via Certified Mail, the way the big dogs roll. He may or may have not gotten it. You never know with mail going to schools. The secretary may have read the first few lines and forwarded it to the admissions, or maybe he just never had a chance to reply to you, which is the case most often. Who knows what the deal is :scared:

I've tried my best. I've done all that I can think of....except maybe requesting an audience. I just gotta learn to sit back, relax, and figure out my life.

Piece of advice: Do your FAFSA even if you are on a WL.

Any word from the BMS program? Tulane Pharm is still accepting applications till the 8th I think. You can call them and ask for an extension if need be.

now....RFU is my only hope.

I did a search for last year RFU's thread and found some information which should give hope to all of us...last year they had movement at the end of June and late July. So, if things happen in a similar way this year, then we should hear some good news at the end of this month which is far far away.

I third that. Heston, did you call SGU back? I am almost ready to sumbit my AMCAS...feels kind of wierd knowing that this is for the 2008 cycle..

I emailed my admissions counselor. Should I call too? She said that she'll get back to me at the end of the week.

I've decided I'm not applying this cycle. Next cycle I'll reapply. I need to bolster the app. :scared:

Did anyone just get the staus email from RFU, looks like the official WL is out...

Dear Applicant;

The Admissions Committee has reviewed your application favorably, however the entering class of 2007 is currently full. Your application has been placed on a non-rank ordered wait list. As positions become available in the entering class of 2007, your application will be re-evaluated by the committee. In past years, approximately 15% of applicants in the wait list matriculated.

You will be notified via phone if your status changes. Please be aware that applicants on the wait list may receive notice of status changes through the first day of orientation (August 8, 2007).

Please notify the Admissions Office if you wish to remove your application from consideration. Thank you for your patience throughout this admissions process.

Sincerely,

The CMS Admissions Office

Yep, got the same thing. Favorably and 15 % there is still hope!!!! :luck:

Damn, 15% is pretty small or its a huge WL. I guess they are sending rejections today as well.

I got the email as well. Hopefully it's a good thing for us!

15 % seems like a lot--but depends on the size. 400 person WL--60 ppl seems kinda sketchy. 200 person WL--30 ppl moving off...

DAMN I JUST SCARED MY SELF!!!!!!!

got the same email!

you scared me...as soon as I saw these last few posts....i quickly checked my email to make sure i got the email as well..

Does anyone think that they rejected anybody or do you think they just changed the name of the "no action list" to the "nonrank waitlist"?

Im not sure, the Favorably review sort of excites me, but I don't know...

Remember too that the letter says that 15% matriculated, at this point a lot of wait list offers could be turned down due to other acceptances that people lazily don't withdraw from other waitlists. The actual number of acceptances offered off the waitlist could be signifigantly higher.

throw me on the favorably waitlist as well...hopefully we all get off....More waiting! YES!!!!!

ahhhhh..... 15% god I hope... What does ordered but not ranked mean...

He has a point!

My guess it means that we're ordered up into sectons: top, middle, and bottom....into thirds. But, within each category, we're not ranked.

However, that actually makes me wonder. Wouldn't they HAVE to get through the top third in order to get to the other categories?

Nice catch. By now many people are where they want to be or know where there are going to be. If they get in by June, are they going to change all the housing and all that jazz....? We all love RFU, or at least really want to go there, but for many other people its not their #1 choice (or only choice).
So I would anticipate that a significant amount of people actually turn down the offer...
please note- I am an optimistic person

Yes! I was wondering what it could mean; and that's exactly it. Or at least it has to be. It is ordered, so into thirds or fourths. Or even groups of 20 for all we know. But not ranked, each 'group' is simply a group not in any type of order. Thats how it is at MCW and DMU.
Now I want to know, why can't they just tell us where we stand; so we don't have to ponder it all summer?
MCW and DMU both gave dates by which we would know the decision, and both told me where i stand/stood on the waitlist.

Yea they would. Ex- at MCW I'm on the bottom half of the waitlist, so basically they would have to go through alottt of kids in unprescedented numbers before I get called.
But its alot better knowing where you stand than waiting all summer long.

Ok, so now that we're on an ordered nonranked list, there would be no sense in trying to convince them I'm their man except for me to get picked from the particular category I'm in. There's no way for me, provided that it's they way we think it is, to move between categories......unless i guess I discovered the cure for cancer.

I'm working on cures for cancer right now.

I got the email today, too. I also got a really sweet research job, which is nice, because I will have health insurance soon!:hardy:

Good for you! Where'd you get it and are they still hiring?

Kansas University School of Medicine. I don't know if this lab is still hiring, but they just built a beautiful new biomedical research facility, so I'm sure there are PIs looking for new techs and lab assistants. The research looks incredible - I'm really, really excited.
