The CiB does not rank them by tuition but does give all of the most current information, including tuition for the schools. You could rank them yourself with a little elbow grease.

The CIB is free. Otherwise you can go to each website, but that will take a lot longer than going over the CIB.

You should be looking at COA, not tuition. COA rankings may be totally different than tuition rankings.

I have my own ranking system ... it starts with horrible, and goes to slightly less horrible, then it stops.

I wouldn't worry though, Obama said earlier tonight that all we need to do is pay off small increments of our debt, and then 20 years later ... poof, it vanishes!

Even at most cheap schools, it is pretty high. If you can get instate tuition at one of the few state DO schools, then you will be relatively low in the debt department. Some schools have almost laughably high tuition that makes you wonder what they are offering relative to a school a few hours away that charges 10k+ less.

Below is a chart showing 2006-2007 tuition and fee rates at the schools. It is obviously out of date but you can get some idea of the range of charges.

On another topic, I read recently that Karen Pletz, former president of KCUMB received over $1 million year as salary. If this is true, it gives me some concern as to what "non-profit" is. I would love to know how salaries at COCA-approved schools compare to LCME-approved schools.

Only 10 years if we go into public service. Which I think medicine should count as. I would be ok with Obama picking up my loans, praticularly if reimbursement is lower when we start.

Admittedly I don't know what the cost of living is near LECOM-B but I would guess it's significantly higher than LECOM-E. Which is why (as mentioned earlier), you should be looking at COA.

Only certain programs count as public service. Not all of health care is public service unfortunately.

I would also be OK with Obama picking up my loans...if he wasn't going to be using my, and other tax-paying citizen's money. How can anyone think this is a good idea or that it is even possible for the government to just magically absolve you from your debt haha. Sorry for the tangent, I just can't handle the propoganda any longer. Bottom line is that every school is very expensive. Like jagger said, they vary from ridiculously expensive to slightly less ridiculous. But the good news is that you can specialize and make $300,000+/yr and not worry about your debt for very long, or you can go primary care and hopefully get into a debt repayment program. Remember, you're not becoming a doctor for the money, you're doing to give yourself to others, and as long as you always remember that, you're accumulating debt won't haunt you quite as much.

I agree with this all as well. If I am to go into a primary care I will probably look into some of the reimbursement programs that are out there. I was just noting that apparently the plan is to absolve us or anyone pursuing higher education of any of the debt that they might accumulate, which is nice in theory, but no mention of where the money is coming from to do this.

I personally think that this loan repayment thing is possibly of the most absurd ideas i've heard in a while. I am going to education...and you my frien...are going to pay for it. WHAT UP!🙄
