I am applying to both MD and DO schools. I graduated this spring, majoring in Kinesiology, and with this background was leaning towards applying to mostly DO, with a handful of MD. I live in Iowa and will be applying to both DMU and Iowa for sure. What are some other schools (DO and MD) that you guys would recommend? Below are some stats, feel free to ask if I missed anything!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cumulative GPA - Around 3.55 (with upward trend)
sGPA - Around 3.50
MCAT - 507 (just got my score back today)
EC's - Worked as a scribe for 1.5 years in the ED and will continue to do so during my gap year
-2 years volunteering in an kinesiology epidemiology lab as a senior research assistant
-ugTA of human anatomy lab
-Volunteer work as a youth mentor, project linus (making blankets for children), and an organization to help encourage high school age people of color to pursue degrees in science
-Shadowed PCP, pediatrics, general surgery
-Part of two university clubs including a minor leadership position in one of these
I feel my PS is strong, and have LOR from 2 professors, a letter from the lab coordinator in the lab I have been an assistant in, and 2 letters from doctors I work with (1MD and 1DO) I think all these letters will be fairly strong as they know me well.
I would love to hear everyone's input as far as what school they recommend I apply to. Was planning on applying to around 25. Will still buy the MSAR, but have not yet.
