Scroll Approval?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It's a list of folks waiting to be approved for commission by Congress. At least, that's my understanding of it.

Commissions in the Armed Forces are Presidential appointments that must be confirmed by the Senate. It used to be that the 3 star in charge of personnel could make these appointments and send it to the Senate for its approval. A couple of years ago, it was determined that approval could not be delegated below the level of the Secretary of Defense. Sooooooo, the scroll(the name probably is historical in nature) list must routed up to SecDef. By the instruction, this process takes 12 weeks. If everything is clicking, it can be as short as 4 weeks, and if not longer than 12 weeks. Plan for 12 weeks from the time your name is actually submitted.

This is consistent with the information I have received from Navy Personnel Command.

Oh my God don't get me started on this proccess. Scroll approval is supposed to have streamlined everything. Yeah right. It will happen when it happens, and there is NOTHING you can do to speed it up.

Hi everyone, looks like I'm the one to bring this thread back from the dead.

I was just wondering if I was the only one pending (Air Force) Scroll Approval, or if anyone else has been experiencing a really long delay.

Coming from someone who just finished the whole process and is just now waiting to get paid, whatever length of time you are told to expect something to be done multiply that by three. I began applying in January and just got my appointment order last week.

I was told by the Army liaison that the scroll has been approved and I had to complete and return the appointment paperwork in order to request the appointment and get orders. Does anyone know about how long it takes to get the appointment granted?
