Hi,

Anyone who look sup previous posts by me can see that I'm not very good at board exams...but I have been perusing the forum, and it seems that people who report similar Qbank scores to mine - about 65-70% - rock these exams. I keep reading posts about people who get high sixties on qbank and then like a 250 on the real thing. Is this for real? And where are the lousy scores? It seems like everyone who posts here has either failed an exam and needs help (who, me?!), or reports an astronomically high score...where are the 190s???

Just thought I'd ask.

i think 65 to 70% of USMLE World's step 2 qBank would give you a Very Good score, i hear Kaplan's qBank is Much easier, and 65-70% on their's doesn't mean a 250

It does seem a bit odd that most of the people posting here tend to be those who just failed step 2 or those who just scored above 250. But I think it actually makes sense. Only the people who really care about step 2 are going to post here. The people who just need to pass it are going to study a bit on their own, take the exam and score 200-220, while never even looking at this forum. The people who just failed the exam suddenly care a lot about it - and are thus going to come here. And the people who have a personal desire to rock step 2 (like me) are going to come here for advice - and will later report their score, which is likely to be very high, since they are the people who actually care about getting a high score.

That's my theory, anyway.

Also, as the above poster mentioned, the 65% leading to 250 is usually in reference to USMLE World, not Kaplan. If you want 250 you want to be scoring a bit higher in Kaplan's Qbank.

This is an anonymous forum, so you should take what anyone posts here as percentages or scores with a grain of salt. They may be true but then again they may not be. It would be better to take more seriously scores from people that you actually know, like class mates or friends than this forum. But other advice given on various topics (that don't involve potential grade inflation or deflation) can be viewed with a less jaundiced eye.
My 2 cents
