Serving in Americorps and state residency, please help me

Hi,

My daughter just graduated a college in MA and will join in Americorps in Texas early July.
She is an American citizen but has no state residency because her parents (i.e. me^^) are not American citizen nor reside in USA.

My question is; after serving one year in Americorps, is she able to declare a Texas resident for Texas medical school application?
I have read Texas medical school residency regulations but still confusing.(http://www.utsystem.edu/tmdsas/medical/residency.html)
Is Americorps considered to be a job as defined in residency regulations, or a just a volunteering?

Another AmeriCorps here! SMART move picking the best state for residency status. I know California rules better, but generally getting a drivers license, registering to vote and filing taxes in Texas will help dispel any doubts. Best! of luck to her

She called TMDSAS today and heard the same thing regarding the residency
Now she will happily join in Americorps!

AmeriCorps has been an amazing, frustrating, uplifting experience. I'm so glad I did it. She's gonna do great.
