Hi,

My daughter just graduated a college in MA and will join in Americorps in Texas early July.
She is an American citizen but has no state residency because her parents (i.e. me^^) are not American citizen nor reside in USA.

My question is; after serving one year in Americorps, is she able to declare a Texas resident for Texas medical school application?
I have read Texas medical school residency regulations but still confusing.(http://www.utsystem.edu/tmdsas/medical/residency.html)
Is Americorps considered to be a job as defined in residency regulations, or a just a volunteering?

Another AmeriCorps here! SMART move picking the best state for residency status. I know California rules better, but generally getting a drivers license, registering to vote and filing taxes in Texas will help dispel any doubts. Best! of luck to her :luck:

Thanks, DOCBERT and Mirimonster.

She called TMDSAS today and heard the same thing regarding the residency
Now she will happily join in Americorps!
