Hey guys, I would really appreciate some advice on my situation. My test is a week from now and I just took the nbme 12 and was sad to see that I only scored a 224. I have gone through first aid twice and have just under 25% of uworld left. I'm really hoping to get above a 240 on this exam and was wondering if it would be a good idea to delay my third year and get an extra month of studying. How much do you think this could affect my score?

How long have you been studying? How did you do in your classes?

I've been in my dedicated study period for 5.5 weeks now and I did above average on all my classes. My uworld average is around a 70%. I just really want to get above a 240 on this exam and am wondering how attainable that may be given my nbme 12 score and also the fact that me exam is a week away.

For those of you who took nbme 12, did you guys find it to be more challenging? I definitely felt those questions were harder than uworld...

Oh my...I'm sorry! I thought you scored a 244 on nbme 12. In that case, I agree with hokie. If you are capable of rescheduling and have the motivation to study another few weeks or a month, I think it would be a good idea.

I've been contemplating delaying 3rd year as well, and my exam is less than a week away. The down side is, you'll going to need a Leave of Absence for that. LOA on transcript don't look good though...unless it's a medical LOA.

Data seems to show that there is no advantage to delaying your test. It might make you feel better, but after 4-5 weeks of studying, there is only so much studying one can do.

DON"T DO IT! Based on the studying you listed in your original post you have done everything necessary to score well. An extra month of studying isn't going to change that. If there was one thing that struck me more than anything else during my test it was that no matter how much more I had studied the ones I didn't know, I never would have known.

So, go in there, feel confident, and you will score what you are meant to score.

25% of UWorld is a fair amount of content still remaining, work towards completing this with enough days to still review FA before your exam. Good Luck !
